  1. Hi all!

Recently booked the July 9th Alaska cruise on the Volendam...SO excited! This is a celebration cruise for Mom's remission - Yay! Mom (85) has definite mobility issues (legally handicapped, though no wheelchair). I mentioned this to our HAL TA couple of days ago, she just wrote to say she moved us up to the handicapped cabin B6228 (from a BC Guarantee). I'm SO relieved that Mom will have a walk-in shower rather than a tub, as I was imagining having to be in the bathroom every time she entered and exited the tub/shower. That said, a couple of questions for you more experienced cruisers:

    A. Guilt?

    1. Even though having a walk-in shower for Mom is a huge relief, I'm feeling a tad guilty in case someone else might need the cabin more. Thoughts?

    B. Cabin and location

    2. Impressions of B6228? Noise from the door to the stern deck? Size of balcony? Distance to elevators? Any photos?

Any and all input gladly welcome!

    Thanks,

    Sparklplenty

  2. Hi Joanie,

Thank you! The pics and your encouragement have me bouncing up and down with excitement!!!

BTW, last year my Mom and I cruised on the Rotterdam. It was a special celebration for her complete remission of lymphoma, so we were in S7039. What a divine stateroom that was! I've got pictures if you'd like them.

    Thanks again!

  3. Hi Joanie,

First of all, thank you SO much for all the work and love you've put into creating and maintaining this thread! You are amazing:D

In less than two weeks my husband and I are sailing on the Oosterdam (Yippee!!!), with a bunch of family members (also yippee!). The in-laws are graciously footing the bill. Initially, they had us all 4 to a room after their TA told them they could get 210sqft DD cabins for us. As near as I could tell, no such critter exists. Rather than be rude and say that though, I spoke with HAL and searched online and found us all great deals for H guarantees with just 2 people per room at a slight cost increase. Well today, our cabins were assigned and DH and I have GG4073...which I am quite happy with. My question (finally!) is do all the H, GG, and G cabins have those lovely full-length windows?

    Thanks!
