  1. apologies, yes I should have put that detail in. I have nothing against music.. just would like to be able to sleep around 10ish after a long day with some minor noise like a muffled TV with the door closed.

I dont think I could put up with death metal wub wub pounding in the cabin at 1 am. Its my understanding the side I picked ( opposite elevators and open? centrum) that it may be better.

just looking for anyone who happened to be in this cabin in any Radiance ship and their opinion on the noise.

  2. After much research on these boards and followed concern regarding centrum noise with music until late... was a mistake made by booking this cabin?

I have heard this cabin (9576) is quite a catch and from what I have read and discovered, it seems a perfect fit..that said, from anyone with experience from this cabin recently, how has the noise level been? Is it worth the trade-off for the location or is it a major issue?

Thanks for any input and opinion in advance ! It will be specifically on the Jewel but I think the layouts on the sister ships are the same

  3. thanks for all the kind words !!! From the Splendor, to the Legend, to the Grand Princess, to the Oosterdam, to the Nieuw Amsterdam, to the Imagination.... The Pride was hands down my favorite cruise.. The ship, the staff, the cabin the ports and of course..the company :) made this a trip to never forget. This beautiful ship was as much a part of such a cherished memory as each evenings canvas was painted in orange sunset perfection.

7301 or cabins like it are an amazing bang for the buck and be warned... you will not be able to go back to a regular balcony room after this :)

to cruisenewbie1, I was in Saranac Lake NY which was the closest place I could find to work and live and still be within driving distance to Annie for the last 2 years ( 6 hour roundtrip every weekend ) and well worth it !

  4. I was looking for my soapbox but found a good sturdy deckchair someone threw down here...that works.

Besides the misleading title the OP placed, it's posts like this that really show how much expectations have eclipsed reality. How entitlement has become merely a tantrum by those that should have supposedly grown out of that stage.

From the fact the OP has not returned to defend/clarify themselves, it seems to re-enforce the tantrum of the eye-straining original post.

The mere number of people, logistics and countless pieces that must fit perfectly to make cruises even possible seems to have been lost on some. Not all cruises are perfect, but I for one am grateful for what the cruise industry provides us as a way to unplug from the chaotic beehive of our daily lives to perhaps take a step back on purpose and enjoy what really matters... the beauty of the world around us and seeing that cozy room after a turndown service that reminds you of something you normally only see in your dreams.

Cruises and life are what you make of it and I consider myself to be lucky to partake in both.

  5. That is the strangest thing. I have never experienced that restriction of Lido buffet closed during main dining room service. I too would like to know if it was every night. If so, that would mean EVERYONE would be forced to dress formal if they wanted diner at least one night. I liked being able to not pack extra formal wear and just hit the buffet during whatever evening in more casual fashion.

Should this be true, I guess it would explain the lackluster service in Normandie since everyone is forced to go there every night for dinner.

....holding out hope this is not the case and still looking forward to my January long needed get away. Thanks for taking the time to do the review!

  6. After a TON of research and seeing raving reviews of 7301 from the fine folks here... I grabbed it for my upcoming Pride cruise in Jan 2015. none of these pics are mine, that said it was a lot of digging around to find them and it sold me 150%. enjoy.. btw there are cabins above and below so no noise and even though it looks like its right behind an elevator, there have been no complaints of sound from it to date that I could find. one last note, the bathroom has the same marble tile finish as the suites just no tub. cheers !

  7. Normally I do not post here. I like to read reviews of others and enjoy the pictures. This particular review caught my attention more than any others in the almost 10 years I have been a cruiser.

That said, I do not wish to discount or talk down any other person here that puts effort into reviews and takes the time to share their experiences with others.

Carnival.... I'm looking at you here !! You have your next potential John Heald in front of you. Wrigley80's ability to convey through concise and reader friendly commentary along with some of the most complete and insatiable photography make for a perfect storm of promotability for your cruise lines without the deluge of fake empty marketing we as vacation hungry people are quite tired of.

My first cruise was a reluctant choice between a Grand Canyon trip vs. a Carnival caribbean week. I was totally lost in regards to choices and planning for the trip. Lets just say I learned a great deal and was hooked by the end of that week.

Our lives for the most part are consumed by things that need to be done by yesterday and go by so fast you would think there is only an hour in every day. A cruise has a wonderful ability to slow things down. A cruise has a way to help convince you that its ok to relax. Regardless of the naysayers of cruises.. the ability to be on the water, listen to the waves at night, see the stars without the light polution from a city, that all meals are included, you stop in different locations.... i could go on but bang for the buck..cruises are it for me.

To some, planning a vacation/cruise can be more stressful than why the vacation was needed to begin with. There are so many variables to consider: itenerary, cruise line, cabin, cabin placement, ammenities and so on. Some people thrive on that. With seven cruises, I am happy to say planning for a cruise is a particular favorite thing to do. But what of those that dont have that prior experience/desire to do that? This is where Wrigley80 comes in.

I understand that some would like to maintain the mystery of what is onboard when they cruise. From what I have seen, the great people on this board like to see the tidbits and see things they will be looking forward to sharing... so no spoiler alerts needed. Give it to us Wrigley!

Forget the "Quest for Platinum" endeavour. Carnival should place you (and your dad ) on every ship in the fleet! You have a gift of relating to the lay person just as well as the technical inclined every detail and thoughtful insight on just about every question our giddy inner child would have for any cruise. Just as I would have a question about what something looks like in your review...POOF there is the picture. Your reviews are broken up into managable pieces and flow in a way that simply makes you want more. I have not been on the two ships you have been on but you sold me where any corporate attempt would have either caused an eyeroll or bored me to death.

Wrigley80 ( you better still be listening Carnival ), your review is like falling off a cliff of stress and landing in a pile of Christmas!

Wrigley80 you do a great service to this board and to those whose lives you touch. You are kind, patient, generous, thoughtful and an avid cruise nut we can't get enough of. Keep up the wonderful reviews and may they continue to inspire and help those looking for an escape or for just a way to slow down for a while.

Carnival, give this girl a contract!

btw, even though my name here is TAPNKEGS, I have never had a drink in my life...the irony made the name stick :)
