  1. I tried to search the forums but couldn't find the answer, so I thought I would ask. My mother in law just mentioned that she had heard you can NO longer bring your own soda on board to consume during your cruise. We always bring a case in our extra bag that we use for souvenirs on the way home. We have cruised more recently than she has, so I am not sure where she is getting her info about this. We head off in a couple months to Hawaii and would like to be sure. Thanks for your help

  2. Yes, Jacuzzi tubs and a separate standing square glass enclosed shower! Plus the use of the Thermal Suite in the Spa, Breakfast to order in Sabatini's, free laundry service, and what we used most of all: ordering off the regular dining room menus for room service! We did the Med. cruise 12 day (Rome to Venice) and loved coming back to the ship and having room service deliver our dinner to our balcony! You WILL get spoiled, sorry to say. Congratulations!

  3. You can't book specialty restaurants in advance. Once on board you can call the dine line, DINE, on you cabin phone.

There will also be a "$1,000 Treasure Hunt" on embarkation day. You need to collect 8 stamps on a card for a drawing for prizes. One of the stamps is at Sabatini's. While you are there you can make reservations for both Sabatini's and the Crown Grill and the Ultimate Balcony Dinner if you wish. They might have copies of the dining room menus for your cruise. They should have the schedule for formal nights. The formal night schedule will also be on page 2 of your embarkation day Patter.

I forgot about the treasure hunt. We usually go to the spa open house. They have a drawing for various spa services. Winner must be present. We have entered a few times and won only because the drawing is generally at a time people are at early seating for dinner. We have won a hot stone massage on one cruise and a $100 gift certificate on another.

  4. Yes, the book club will meet early in the cruise on a sea day. At that time, the book will be distributed. Then there will be a meeting to talk about the book towards the end of the cruise. Both meeting will be announced in the Princess Patter.

On my cruise, they just had the book at the library and you picked it up.

  5. My husband and I always purchase the photo that has the itinerary on it. A few cruises ago we took an awful picture for that background. We asked about it and were told that you can put any photo with any background as long as the orientation of your photograph was correct for the template they were using. (There was an additional charge if you wanted a formal night picture used.) This was nice to know. We have taken advantage of this a few times.

I also have a Nikon camera and my battery charger burnt out right before we got on board. The photography dept was nice enough to charge my battery for me everyday.

  6. I have booked Nikos tour for our upcoming tripto Athens. I was wondering since the drivers won't ge the tickets for us, were the ticket window lines and entrance lines eve an issue?

At the Acropolis, you can buy a single ticket for all the archeological sites. There really was not that much of a line, but our guide/driver had us there when it first opened.

  7. We used http://www.privategreecetours.com/.

The tour that we did was this one: http://www.privategreecetours.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=39:full-day-athens-tour-shore-excursion&catid=15:athens-region&Itemid=96

We were quite pleased with them. We went to the Acropolis where we listened to the Rick Steve's Itunes walk. We needed more time, so we just called down to our driver and he waited for us. We should have timed things better because the sites were on winter hours, and the Ancient Agora was closed by the time we got there around three. Otherwise we saw everything listed. I do think there is a law that prohibits the driver from acting as a guide at the actual site, so whichever driver you get will give you back ground before the enter site.

  8. I did not enjoy the market. The sellers were very pushy, often shoving their wares in your face. It was interesting to walk through, but not my cup of tea. We were able to get 3 lacquer boxes for $9, so cheap souveniers can be haggled for.

  9. Hi Dubrovniktravelady,

Thanks so much for all of this information. My husband and I are trying to pick an excursion for Dubrovnik on the Ocean Princess. We have it narrowed down between two. The main difference is one goes to Rector's palace and to Cavat, with lunch, while the other does not. The shared itineraries include the Franciscan Monestary and pharmacy, cathedral and treasury, and Pile gate with old town. The difference in price is about $90 per person. Was wondering if the excluded two items were worth going to see with the increased price? I know it's hard to tell with a ship excursion how much time is actually spent at a particular site. Thanks!
