It's not just about sharing. It's also a way to get moderate drinkers mixed in with heavy drinkers to share the cost of the program.

1. Unnecessary extra work for staff at the end of the cruise.
2. Unnecessary calls fielded by guest services "someone stole/removed/damaged my door decorations."
I don't blame the cruise lines for wanting them banned.

If you have cheers and ordered a shake and said "please give me 2 straws as I intend to share this with my kid, charge me if you must", my guess is that 9 times out of 10 you will not be charged. They are really more concerned with sharing alcohol.

go to guest services when you get on board. They can include the girls parents with those permitted to leave the ship with her.

No smoking in carnival cabins at all..
I believe smoking was allowed in cabins in 2008, when this thread was born.

Once on board and logged in, you can purchase shore excursions as well

I have an 8 year old. I know sharing isn't allowed but how big a deal is it to slip my kid a milkshake?
Based on my experience, If the bartender knows you and that you are on the cheers program, more often than not he wont charge you for a non-alcoholic drink even if you tell him it is for your kid.

You don't even really have to coordinate to pick the exact same time. Each of you simply choose the earliest time possible, and then board together with whoever's time is latest

Sailed on the Conquest out of San Juan in 2013. Purchased Cheers and was able to get most bartenders to serve unopened beers. ( actually all but one, and was eventually able to change his mind).
Going on Fascination in November and wondering if this will still be the case. Any recent experience with this, particularly on Fascination?

You can always have them slap a luggage tag on it and check it for you

Really, if the only empty chair I can find has towel on it, I move the towel and sit in it. If someone were to come back and claim that it was their chair and towel ( hasn't happened yet), I would politely give up the chair and find another and do the same. There are literally dozens to choose from.
-
My steward on the Pride did offer the towel book to me after I commented on how much my grandson an I enjoyed the critters he left in our room. I believe he said he would benefit from the sale, but I don't remember how. I did buy the book.

Today is my 90 days out, but I haven't gotten around to doing the online check in. Am I correct in assuming that since I have a suite, I don't need to be concerned with my check in time.

For those of you who stalk the website 20 times a day everyday for months to finally get the privilege of shelling out $90, have you ever compared the time that you spent trying to get this with the actual amount of time you saved on board?
-
well if they're not going to enforce the rule that says you can't save a chair for more than 30 minutes, then why would you expect them to enforce a rule that allows you to save a chair for up to 30 minutes. If there isn't a butt in the chair, sit in it.
-
When I want to “lounge” on deck, I am usually alone and I am never in the chair for much more than an hour at a time. If I can’t find an un-spoken for lounger, I will look for groups of un-occupied chairs being “saved” with towels. I will choose one and move the towel to the adjacent chair. On the rare occasion that someone calls me on it, I simply tell them that if their whole party shows up and they need all of the chairs they saved while I am using it, I will happily vacate the chair, but until then I will stay put. Never an argument, And I have never had to give up the chair before I was ready.

We have taken 9:30-10:00am flights before out of FLL before, rush, rush, rush.
But, if the ship is delayed beware. The flights can sometimes be packed with people being re-scheduled.
We now book a room after debarkation, then take the next morning early flights. Less stress, more $$ yes, but a lot more pleasurable.... No stress.... or rush.:) IMHO, worth the extra $$.
I do the same. I usually find the flights to be cheaper on the day after debarkation. This offsets the cost of the room. For my upcoming San Juan thanksgiving week cruse, the airfare savings is mor than twice the cost of the hotel room.

Too bad it's not transferable. If you got one you could sell it to the highest bidder.

Because they are adults. Seriously, the only reason they have structured activities for CHILDREN is to occupy them so their parents are free to spend $ on booze and gambling. 18-20yo don't need baby sitters. And since they don't spend money on alchahol, i dont think the cruise line really cares what they do.

Suite guests also board before everyone else (after weddings, P&D).
Are "Junior" suites also entitled to priority boarding?
-
Look at this from the cruise lines perspective. Without debating whether one thinks it is right or wrong the fact is that the drinking age for most of their passengers 21, why would you take a bunch of kids who are not legally allowed to drink in their everyday life. And allow them that privilege for the first time on your cruise ship. I wouldn't want to risk it, it seems like it would just cause more problems then would be worth it.

OMG. WHY are they not changing more for this?
Free booze!
