  1. Embarkation

While sitting there, one of the bar staff told me that the cruise before was chartered and was a EDM music cruise and that they had a really rough time getting people off the ship that morning.

Hi, do you mind telling us your sail date, as we are looking for an EDM cruise for next year :') so we can google what event it was

We agree, food in Europe is so much better than in the States. Especially salads.

    Loving the review so far...

  2. We approach this from a different angle.

We use Euro’s, and on board cash is in dollars. So if the rate drops, we will top up our account with $100. We will do that a few times before the cruise.

Our next cruise depart from Vancouver.

So we will fly over from Dublin, spend a few days in Vancouver, than get on the ship.

Once we get on the ship, everything will be prepaid. Tips,Cheers, Internet, and say $300 of On Board cash.

And once the cruise is over should anything be left on board the last night, we will either go to the casino, and cash out ( yes i know we will lose 5%) or the wife will get another handbag, or perfume. ( other cruise lines will refund you the OBC that you paid for)

and, although it never happened, if we were to lose our bankcards, well, everything is covered.

And, we started doing this after like the 3rd cruise... it feels so much better after an amazing holiday, on the last night to get a refund from the cruise, than having to pay off a larger balance.

  3. There is no easy way to say this… but on all American cruise lines... the amount of huge overweight people…

If you are too fat to walk, you do not have a disability,,, you are just fat…

I met people complaining the toilets are too small… no,toilets are normal, you are just huge….

But, in this day and age, being overweight is normal, and everything else..... well, you need help, not them…

  4. Thanks.

Due to our late departure flight, 11:35pm, we will probably just get taxis.

Taxi from ship to Airport – Drop off Luggage at the storage facility there.( as port baggage storage closes at 6 or 7pm)

Taxi from Airport to Pearl Harbour

Taxi/shuttle/bus from Pearl Harbour to Waikikki

Than, Taxi/shuttle/bus back to the airport.

  5. Hi All

When we get off the ship, ( 22 September 2017, Friday ) in Honolulu we will have 15 hours till our flight departs.

Ideally we would like to do only 2 things, anything else is a bonus. Visit Pearl Harbour, and swim at Waikiki beach, and meet Mr Duke Kahanamoku.

So we will have 2 options:

Take a tour, that pick us up at the cruise port, that includes Pearl Harbour and Waikiki beach, get off at Waikiki, leave our luggage at some hotel, spend a few hours there, than go back to the airport.

    Tour is with Roberts Hawaii.

    Or Taxi.

Taxi from ship to Airport – Drop off Luggage at the storage facility there.

    Taxi to Pearl Harbour

Taxi/shuttle/bus from Pearl Harbour to Waikikki

Than, Taxi/shuttle/bus back to the airport.

We are leaning towards the Taxi route, as it is much less hassle. And will be easier as no waiting, etc.

We just wanted to see, what do any locals think of our idea?

We do not mind taking local busses if available.

    Thanks.

  6. This happened to us on a different line. After a week or so, we got charged $30 something. We called, and they said it was mini bar charges, and that was it.

We were rally mad, as, we had the package, and on the last night, they always lock the fridge, and we never take something from the mini fridge.

In our last 12 cruises, we always just use cash. We pre pay for everything, alcohol package and tips, than we will put whatever the min us down. and we just top it up if needs be.

this is much easier, as we also never overspend...

  7. Hi, it have been a while since our last Carnival cruise, and hope you can help.

We are planning on paying off our September Cruise in 2 weeks. But, we might want to do a paid upgrade, to a better balcony cabin.

Will they allow us to do this after we made the final payment?

    Thanks

  8. Hi, you will love it.

Just remember, it is an Italian cruise line, and, Italians might do things a little differently.

We have been on MSC a few times, and will be back again.

if you drink, buy the drinks package before you leave. Coffee is include with this, and, for the small cost, you will get drink your money back very quickly.

  9. This is not about the people, who leave there chairs and go to the pool, get back, and go to the bar, and move around a lot. it is about those people, who put their stuff down, and do not return at all, for hours at end. And, since I am on Vacation, so what ifi want to be front row, centre.

I do not care what any of you get up to on your vacation, but, if you leave your stuff on a chair, and do not return for a few hours, i will remove it,only if somebody else would like to use the chair, and I know 100% that those chairs have been reserved and not used.

If you do not like that, than do not leave your stuff unattended on a chair for hours on end - simple.

if you do not understand this concept, I will draw you a picture.

  10. It is ALSO wrong to move items that do not belong to you.

You are right, going forward, i will just flip over the chair, drop the stuff on the ground, and use the chair. This way, i am not actually touching the stuff.

Now I understand why when you buy a cup of coffee in the States, you get the following warnig on the cup..

    Coffee may be hot.

I mean, really, i would have never guessed...

  11. .

We are morning people, and will be at the pool fairly early. We will be there, and, see these people come, drop off their stuff, and leave.

Then, few hours later, when it gets busier, and more and more people are looking for chairs, we will tell them, they can sit there, ( on the chairhogs chair) and I will remove the flipflop and towel that was left on a chair, and take it to the towel stand / hut.

I have been doing this for the past 15 cruises, and, I will continue to do it for the next 15 cruises.

If you see me as the person I then wrong here, than, why, no tonce before, on NCL or Carnival, did a single employee told me I should stop doing it? I did not do it like 100 time a cruise, maybe 2 or 3 times.

And, no, I do not sit there with a stop watch, and time it to the second, so, did I potentially remove something in less than an hour, yes, but, if the owner did not come back till 2 hours later, does it matter.

And, there is a difference between a flip flop, that a passenger intentionally leave unattended for a few hours, vs, an Iphone, car, etc, so please do not even go there.

Again, I just think, the people who defend the chair hogs, must be the chair hogs.

Why else would you defend them?

Also, if I were to walk on the ship, and a IPhone or Wallet is laying on the floor? What do I do,? Just leave it, as I should not touch another person’s stuff without his/her express consent, written in both English /Spanish in triplicate? Or, so I pick it up, and take it to Reception?

Maybe that person is just reserving that spot for later, and he is keeping a place on the deck for the party later that night, as, this is the way some of you make it sounds like…

  12. I do not want to stir the pot, but, to me it sounds lot like those who say you should never touch another persons stuff, might well be the people who leave their stuff on the chairs. ( i am only talking about chair hogs here)

yes, the daily does mention a staff member will remove it,..if left unattended for 61 min... it does not say, as a passenger, i can not do it?

so, if you do not listen to the rules, and leave your stuff for longer than an hour, then, please tell me where it says I am not allowed to remove it?

please, show me the rules that is written down, and, not your opinion?

why does this only work one way?

  13. If you put down $300 it will run till it runs out; that is from one cruise to the other.

In general they will only refund $50 in cash and send anything more than that by cheque. You could point out that as you paid by cash they should pay out by cash; that may work.

    That is not 100% correct.

On our last NCL cruise, we paid off everything before we departed. - tips, UBP, etc.

when we checked in ,we just told them we will put cash down.

When we got onboard, we started to drink. and our cards worked. By the 3rd day, we wanted to buy something small in the gift shop, and we did, but, as soon as we bought it, they first let us buy it, then our card were locked, and we had to go down to reception and put cash down.

At the end of the cruise, we got a full refund that was due to us.

  14. Hello - I am an experienced cruiser but with RCCL and Celebrity. I have been asked to plan a girls cruise for Feb 2018..we will range in ages 58-68. All have cruised before but mostly with RCCL. I am thinking it is time to give another cruise line a shot and have been looking at NCL.

Reading reviews it appears that Getaway is more popular and has better ratings. Escape is not too far behind in ratings and is bigger and newer.

Why I think we'll like NCL - no formal nights and no set dinner times/restaurants...and it will be all new to us :).

Why I'm worried we won't like NCL - well to me there is no such thing as a bad cruise but I am sort of picking it for the group of us so that gives me concern to make the right choice.

So if you have some feedback, I'd love to hear it...I am leaning to Getaway from what I've read but can't really say why. I understand both ships are like the Oasis class with RCCL where you have to book shows ahead of time but you don't book restaurants? Please correct me if I'm wrong about that as I've just started doing research on these two ships. Any thoughts and/or info will be helpful. Thank you!!!

Hi, you did not mention where you are cruising from, but, if Miami, have a look at the MSC Divina.

It have a more European flavour to it, including the food, i will get flamed for saying this, but it is more upscale than NCL, but still a great fun ship.

We done a back to back, on The Divina, than on the Escape. both were great ships, and i will sail on both again without hesitation.

You will 100% love NCL. and you might not like MSC, because it is more European, but, if yo are looking for something different, look into it.
