Could be web page problems:eek:
Another reliable website also shows all categories sold out.

I found the article to be quite interesting. However, the author should've mentioned that the lowest prices are for Inside Cabins. Also the author did not really state that passengers can leave the ship owing anywhere from $0 to $thousands depending on the choices they make. We all have our budgets and plan accordingly.
But, for the most part, isn't this exactly what the cruise lines and their agents do. I receive numerous e-mails from these folks, including Cruise Critic, advertising low priced cruises "from" $$$. Additionally, if I read the article correctly, the authors were talking about the price of admission, not all the add on such as tours, booze, etc.

Thank you for those links DocJohnB. The second one has some fabulous pics.
I know its crazy.
She insisted the balconies had the same area, although we all know they certainly do not!
I am curious to know why you wouldnt have changed?
This is just my own personal opinion, but I prefer the size of the balcony. It can provide some sun (depending on the time of day), but mostly shade. Sometimes on the smaller balconies the sun can be a bit unbearable and . . . . you either put up with it or move inside. I am not really a 'sun' person.
Secondly, your point regarding the ability to have a view both fore and aft is quite true, but to me it would not be an important factor as if I want, I can still see forward, just not straight ahead. (does that make sense). Just don't feel as though I would miss out on a lot (view).
Not to worry though, you still have made a good choice on an excellent cabin on a great ship.

Thank you mayfieldlodge, I did find the video.
The cabin and balcony look wonderful. The balcony looks a fair bit smaller, although Celebrity told me it was exactly the same size.
I am on the 15/09/13 Adriatic cruise from Venice.
Cant wait!
Have a fabulous cruise!
Did they say the balconies were the same size? As you noted in your OP they are not.
Below are two links from cruise critic. The first provides a description of the cabin 2104. The 2nd provides some pretty good pictures of the cabin/balcony. (It is for the Reflection, but it is the same).
I, personally, would not have made the change.

Super review.
Funny how some folks can always make lemonade out of lemons. You not only do that but your positive attitude sweetens it and makes it even more palatable. Some folks would have had fantastic weather and crabbed because they got sun burned.
I see you are headed out in a couple of months for an Eastern Mediterranean cruise. I know you will enjoy it. Of your stops, I have only been to Santorini, Athens and Rome. Having read your review I KNOW you will enjoy all of these immensely. I hope you plan on a few days pre or post cruise to explore Rome. It is my favorite European city. My wife and I spent a land vacation in Greece - you will be absolutely awed by the sights of Santorini and the history that is Athens.
You and your husband are members of my second favorite profession and I feel that your positive attitude comes across to your students. BTW, which level do the two of you teach at. (My guess is either middle school).
BTW, he does wear some funny looking shorts (bermudas). :D :D

[Gambee,
What a great review! It is quite addictive. I am glad there are times that you have to deal with your other life and cannot post . . . it gives me time to rest up for the next reading. :p :p
Your detail is almost obsessive (and I mean that in a positive way). I just finished up my 5th S class cruise in February . . . . and am discovering things through your review that I overlooked or missed. Now I will have to probably book another just to see what you are talking about.

Hi
I just want to thank you for compiling the S cabin spreadsheet. We looked up our room(9292) for our upcoming cruise.
Tom:):)
Tom,
IMO, you will truly enjoy 9292. I sailed in this cabin, but on the Equinox. Pretty much the cabins (not suites) are all the same (size, equipment, etc.) and differ only in layout (bed near closet vs near veranda). What makes 9292 so enjoyable is the size of the veranda.
-
And, the thanks is a bit overdue.
I starting reading this thread in the busy week leading up to my cruise on the Equinox (2/1). I saw the above photo and thought what a brilliant idea. I was to share the cabin with my brother and having been on 3 of the Solstice class ships knew of the storage situation. However, because it was the busy week leading up to the cruise I promptly put this in the back of my mind and almost forgot about it.
Got down to FLL and we were picking some last minute items, when these popped back into my brain. We were at Target and were able to find some. These are great . . . . although we each had two of the size shown, we also picked up a pair of the next smaller size and used it for sock storage.
Of course, once I was able to get online, I couldn't for the life of me figure out just who had posted the pic and just ran across it again today when I went back to finish up your whole thread.
Again, thanks.

Super cool!! Loved your opening video. BUT, I was disappointed on your second posting that you didn't have a video. Like a druggie, I was hooked and wanting more. And, more!!
Yeah, know what you mean Ohio, she drags us in with a super video on the first post, then nada on the second.
Just kidding, of course. I have bookmarked this thread, so that I can surreptitiously go on your cruise, Jo. Enjoyed the sailaway. Can't wait to see where I am tomorrow. :D

Is the balcony for 9298 larger?
It is bigger than the standard veranda . . . probably double. The width is the same, but the veranda is deeper.

Georgene,
In order to submit this to Independent Traveler, I did some editing. This was originally a blog/journal, I kept during the trip. But your memory is fully intact, in the blog I did mention that guy and his unpleasantness.
-
And, have posted a very long (hopefully not boring) travelogue on the independenttraveler.com site below. Although the trip was 5 years ago, most of the information is relevant today.

As CaptainMcD said one has to enjoy being at sea. I would add that being flexible is absolutely necessary. You may be scheduled for a 12 - 18 hours in a port only to find out that instead of docking in the morning, you dock and are cleared at 10 p.m. and the inport period has been reduced to 8 hours.
Another REALLY important thing to understand is (as GHarkness points out) that it is a working ship . . . the crew is there to work and not entertain you . . . entertainment is strictly what you make of it. My ship had an extensive video collection (and surprisingly a well stocked library . . . left by previous passengers). You may take your meals with the officers, or as in the case of my trip with other passengers.
You make your own bed and tend to the cleanliness of your stateroom. The steward (serves as both cabin and dining steward), will come in once a week and change linens, etc., but his main job is to tend to the officer's needs.
Would I do it again. Oh you betcha . . . . although I would like to try one of the bulk freighters mentioned by CaptainMcD.
Did I enjoy it . . . read the travelogue and you will see just how much.
Captain McD . . . . nice web site.

On our transatlantic cruise last year on Celebrity's Century our tablemate hit it big on the last night to the tune of $5,000+.

Mike,
Thanks for a fantastic and thorough review. Almost felt like I was peeking over you shoulder the entire cruise.
Have a question though.
you don’t need pants in TasteReally? :D:D:D:D
Course now, I have been on cruises where some guys were accused of having no taste in pants . . . . . just saying. :p

Michael Bailey Celebrity CEO
in Celebrity Cruises
Posted
For what it's worth. Michael Bailey is not the President/CEO of Celebrity Cruises.
However, Michael Bayley is the President and CEO of Celebrity Cruises.
Surely, having run a sizable successful business, you realize the importance of getting such details correct.
Also, having run a sizable successful business, why in the world would you attempt multiple phone calls to get a problem resolved/looked into when you must know that a well written letter and/or e-mail would probably garner some manner of response.
By the way, I recently sent an e-mail to Mr. Bayley outlining a problem I had with one of the departments of his company. I set forth the problem as I saw it in a calm, undemanding way. Two days later, I received a phone call from a lady in Mr. Bayley's office. My problems/concerns were addressed and a satisfactory response was given to me.
While I had hoped for some form of response, I wasn't expecting the personal touch of a phone call.
