I did a tour to Egypt including the Nile River cruise but not with Viking. I can comment though on the areas where the ships dock. The areas felt safe to me when I was at the ports during the day. However, Egyptians do not run along a street. You will really stand out as an oddity. Also, some areas were crowded and not sure how you could navigate around everyone enjoying their day along the River as well as vendors.
You out didn't mention if you are male or female. Running attire for ladies definitely NOT appropriate in Egypt, even touristy places like Luxor and Aswan.
All the men I remember seeing wear slacks and shirts, no atheletic wear.
Hope this helps!

Got off the Equinox 3 weeks ago. No music on the lawn at all. I was disappointed.

My search button has disappeared....How can a 2 level suite be handicapped accessible with living area downstairs and bedroom upstairs?

There is no Iced Coffee. You can get hot coffee poured over ice but will be a very weak drink. Iced latte is a option as well

The Indy Doesn't have any iced coffee. I had to get an iced latte. The size was similar to Starbucks tall. Have mocha, vanilla and SF vanilla syrup if you like flavorings

Sounds like a great trip.
May I ask who you cruised with?
Keith
I worked with an tour company called My Odessey Tours.
I picked the itinerary and they put everything together. Was nice having private tour guides at all the sites so we went at our pace. We never felt unsafe anyway. Guides had great knowledge, spoke English well and hotels were 5 star in great locations. There was a flight change and the company rebooked us, notified the guides and didn't miss a step!

Did you have to pay a departure fee when you left Egypt?
I did not pay a fee when leaving Egypt either for Jordan or back to the States

Sounds like you had a wonderful trip. How was the weather? Did you find a big difference in temps between Cairo and Aswan?
Did you have any problems getting your visa in Jordan? Did you get it ahead of time or at the airport? We plan on just getting ours upon arrival at the airport.
Weather was in the 70s during the day; cooler in the morning and evening. Aswan was a bit warmer, maybe Just a 5 degree difference.
We got the visa at the airport. Our guide walked us to an area for Jordan residents only and worked it out. I did see an area for visas with a short line after leaving the gate and getting to the "main area". Very well labeled.

Just returned from 2 weeks in Egypt and Jordan;what a wonderful trip! I did the arranging with a travel agent, not with a set tour group. Private guides in Cairo,Aswan and 3 night Nile cruise. Flew to Jordan for 4 days to see Petra, Wadi Rum and a few other sites.
I never felt unsafe at all. People seemed happy that "Americans are here". Security checks at all hotels and sites with random checks along the roads.
Everything I have read about tipping just about everyone is correct! Had to always make sure to have small bills. Kind of annoying but....
Happy to answer any questions!

OK..one more time  The ship hair dryers do not SUCK (classy word) if your hair is not terribly thick or long. My hair is fine, short and not terribly thick and the ship dryers work just fine for me. I wish our friend CB would realize that not everyone lives in her box!
My hair is on the fine side and shoulder length...I bring my own. Haven't had any luck with the ships blow dryer

I would lay the gown down on the bed. Then put folded up shirts On the middle of the dress. Then fold the bodice, sleeves (if any) and the bottom of the dress. This will minimize wrinkles..will look like a "package".
But plan to have the ship do a pressing if necessary.
