  1. After a cruise, are there quite a few transport at the pier, or would it be best to arrange ahead of time? Super shuttle or Primetime is cheaper than Princess, so can one get on board once you disembark? Just trying to figure out the best way. Thanks again for your assistance :)

  2. the other thing to look at is perhaps your credit card. The type of credit card I have, gives me cancellation insurance, medical insurance if I booked the vacation with my credit card. And since I collect points, I do everything with my credit card. Through my husbands work, also has out of country medical, so between the two, I don't worry about it. And I work in insurance - but property insurance :)

  3. I faxed in my order, but in 2 weeks they never processed it. I finally just called them and put the order in over the phone. Received confirmation within minutes. The customer service rep. told me that they are not allowed to write down Visa number, it gets typed into the computer right away. That makes me feel more secure as I know there isn't a slip of paper around with my number on it.

  4. Just wondering for those that have faxed in order. I faxed my order in last Tuesday but nothing has showed up on my visa. I know it doesn't show in personalizer, but it seems a long time. I don't want to phone in order in case I get double, as I don't need two coffee cards:)

  5. If you fax your order form, do you get an email confirmation of your order? One of the items I ordered, was prepaying gratuity, does this show in my personalizer? I've also ordered the coffee and soda card, so I like to be sure it gets there. I like to prepare as much as possible before and pay so it is out of the way. Thanks everyone

  6. On the CB this June I pre-paid for my daughter. She too had her cup waiting for her, her card had the sticker. The surprise was her cabin mate, a family friend, also had a sticker on her card. Nice.

However, the difficulty I had getting my pre-paid coffee card was such that we won't be doing that again!

What was the problem you had with pre-paying for your coffee card? I was thinking of preordering mine just so that is done, and paid for before I go.

    Thanks!

  7. What I find fascinating about this idea, is let me get it straight, 1) for most people, to get to a cruise ship are either flying, or driving 2) we are taking a holiday, where despite good intentions, a lot of food goes to waste, we've all seen some of those dishes filled to overflowing at the buffet 3) when we get to a port, we are upsetting the natural balance, amt of people in the water, the amt of tour buses, all the people affecting the ecosystem. It seems to me, that cruise ships do a lot of recycling, and isn't the grey water filtered to be reused?

My point is, if one is that worried about cruise lines using solar power because of the environment, then perhaps staycations is a better use of your down time:rolleyes:

  8. Maybe they should install parking meters on the chairs :p 25 cents for 15 minutes with strict enforcement by meter maids. Use the meters that max out at 15 minutes.

    Shhh, they may see that:eek:

  9. that just seems wrong. On Carnival, they had a sign out and it appears to have been respected. I never heard anyone complain, but then, I didn't pay that much attention. If I was in the pool, or left for a few minutes and there was a sticky on my chair, I would just remove it, not a big deal. It just seems to be a shame when some people only think about themselves. Personally, I don't want to get up at 6:30, just to put a towel on a chair that I may not use for several hours, I'm on holidays, and I can barely roust myself to get a cup of coffee :p

  10. I am reading on several threads about people complaining about chair hogs. We took a Panama cruise last year with Carnival, and though I had other issues with Carnival, I have to say they were very diligent about marking vacant chairs. Someone was always coming around and putting stickies on chairs where people left their stuff but no where around. So why isn't Princess doing this:confused:

  11. Taking a 4 day Pacific Coastal cruise in October with 2 friends. Bored at work, so I thought I would check prices, and it came down over $300 for our mini suite. It meant that each of us a $124 drop in fare, plus 2 of us got a $25 OBC, our 3rd friend didn't as she is 3rd. Sucks to be her :) I was quite surprised as it is so far out, I didn't think it would come down, so remember folks, keep checking!

  12. I know that there are other threads about the shipboard accounts, and that the recommendation is to let your bank do the conversation. But under the shipboard account on the Princess site reads:

Why is Preferred Currency a benefit for you?

    • We use a fair market based currency exchange rate, but you will be refunded if our rate results in a higher charge to your card. *Please see detailed terms for refund conditions.
    • You will know exactly what is charged to your card in your home currency before you leave (it is printed on your final folio).
    • When you get your card statement from your bank there will be no surprises or other fees and costs for currency conversion as the amount on your final folio will be the same as on your card statement.

So when they say they use a "fair market" based currency rate, that it is higher than what your bank rate would be? But then it says that if their rate is a higher charge, then you can get a refund. So is this a change in their policy, or just another way for us to be charged higher? I had it into using their rates, but now not too sure. Have several months, but just checking it out now. Would be nice if the canadian $ gets a surge, but I can't see that happening :)

    thanks!

  13. I bring a nice set of avon rings, and have left mine at home. It is not always about the worry about theft, it is the worry if I was to go swimming and lose them. I don't like to take the chance, and I am really big into the sentimental aspect. When we were in St. Thomas, I had a jeweller that kept saying I should switch my diamond in my engagement ring to a larger one. 1 - my diamond is a canadian diamond & 2 - if I had a bigger diamond, in my mind it is no longer my engagement ring. I would much rather risk losing a $20 set of rings, then my set.

And Pam, I like the summer diamonds comment, good one

  14. Hi there, was wondering if there was any public transportation from San Pedro to Long Beach? There doesn't appear to be much in San Pedro, shopping, beaches restaurants are in Long Beach. Thought about renting a car for the day, but Enterprise in SP is not opened on Sunday, and not sure what time we will be in on Saturday, but I am sure the office is closed. I can't seem to find any other car rentals in SP. It seems a taxi is about $25-$30 to go from SP - Long Beach. It still might be cheaper to rent from Enterprise in Long Beach and drop the car off at SP, but they charge a $40 drop off fee. So just trying to find all my options. Thanks in advance for any advice.
