  1. Yes, my husband "discovered" them on our last Freedom cruise and will use the showers there all next week!

Said they are one of the best-kept secrets ;)

Thanks, that's exactly what I was hoping to be able to do too. With two other women in the cabin, getting ready for dinner will be challenging . Thanks again.

  2. Funny.

Speaking of funny. I have a pair of side to side S2S cruises in February. First 7 days I am on the Oasis, there is still nothing on the RCI site to book dining. The week after we are on the Liberty both sailing from FLL. MTD is available to book for the Liberty cruise. I suspect that when I can book dining on the Oasis it will be Dynamic Dining.

I am guessing I will experience DD prior to my 2016 Anthem cruise.

    jc

Not true for us. We sail on Feb 8 out of PC on the FOS and as of 5 min ago we could not book MTD reservations. So I called TA and he said they don't open any reservations for MTD until 90 days b4 cruise. (Nov 8)

  3. Ok, I have been reading these posts and I don't understand why everyone is having such a hissy fit. So he canceled and booked on the Regal Princess. What is the big deal??? I, like him enjoy the dining room experience. The ambience, the crew singing and having a good time while getting the passengers involved. But this Dynamic Dining they're supposedly going to do, will not give anyone the dining room experience. But bottom line is this....Why does RCI have to be so hush hush about it? Are they afraid that more people won't like the new idea and do the same and cancel? As far as myself and the OP, we can't be the only ones who would rather have the dining experience over the dynamic dining.

Count me among your ranks. We are booked on FOS Feb 8 sailing so we may have DD. I think it's very rude of RCL not being more transparent and letting people know one way or the other. I hate us having to be one of the early birds having to work out all the kinks of DD. I can see it being a diaster but crossing my fingers it won't be!

  4. There is no comparison between a 2-6 hour flight to your destination and a 4-8 day vacation. . . .

The idea that a cruiseship will impose a fine is interesting. . .

How will they collect this money? Unless they have a signed receipt accepting the penalty and agreeing to pay the fine or video feed of the offense, how exactly does Carnival plan to collect the aforementioned fine???? Once off the ship, the smoker can just dispute the charge by saying, "it wasn't me. they have me confused with someone else" and Carnival then has to fight the credit card company. . . . Carnival is not going to do that. If they demand payment while on the cruise, that is just $250 less the person has to spend on the ship. Lose - lose for ole Carnival (or NCL as the case may be). Will they threaten to put the person off the ship if they don't pay upfront? If so, I believe the United States penal code views that as extortion. . . Again, if paid by credit card, not

    enforceable or collectable.

And, if a person repeatedly smokes in their room will they be put off the ship on some distant shore?? If so, when that smoker meets up with unfortunate misadventure while stranded, who is liable for any loss or injury?? Carnival would be foolish to go into court and explain that they left anyone on some island without proper resources simply because "they repeated smoked cigarettes on their balcony." Now that I type this, perhaps there was a more direct reason for Carnival ditching that No Smoking ship back in the day. . . . Any misfortune that befalls someone put off the ship who was not either clearly breaking a serious law or a danger to the other passengers would fall right in the pockets of Carnival. . . contract be darned. . . .

Sounds good in theory but just how far and how much risk is Carnival willing to substain over a 5 minute cigarette. . . . I am not anti the new policy. I am just wondering thru typing how much smoke and mirrors (excuse the pun) is involved in this "new" policy.

And CCL does not have very good track record enforcing their own rules. I wonder if this rule will be the same way?

  5. Out of curiosity, I did some analysis of this thread so far, assigning a rating to each posting -- negative, comment/question (so, neutral), and positive. After a while, I had to add another category -- attack/apologist in which the responder chastises the poster for his/her opinion and blames them for the problems they reported with Pied Piper.

Clearly, some people on some cruises are quite happy with PP. The number of positive responses was more than twice the number of negative ones. I would point out, however, that the negatives were extremely negative.

I was also curious if the positives were concentrated among certain posters, which they are not. The most positive postings by one individual is three; in most cases, the positive is a single post from an individual. Again, some are very happy with PP.

One other observation -- the negative comments seem to be later in the thread. Perhaps there is a downward trend?

Here's the raw numbers as of today (April 26, 2014):

    Positive: 30

    Neutral: 85

    Negative: 13

    Attack/Apologist: 5

(I know for a fact that the last category would have been higher a few weeks ago, as one of the attack/apologist postings was directed at me. Based on moderator comments, I'm assuming that specific posting was either hidden or deleted, hence it is not included here. And thank you to the moderator for constructive comments.)

My husband and I were looking to book the post thanksgiving cruise 2015 until we read this entire thread. Too many negative comments as far as we are concerned. Who needs the drama that PP seems to conjure.

  6. I can confirm that Freedom of the Seas was separate.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Separate as stated and most guys came in with towels but hung nude after a bit. One guy came in with swimsuit on but didn't last long because of all the stares I guess.

  7. One of the reasons I will not cruise the Caribbean on ships with mostly USA passengers. I like to be comfortable but shorts and often baseball caps during the evening - NO.

Good, stay with your own kind, we don't want you close to any USA passengers!!

  8. Actually, there is an area where you can relax on Divina that is co ed. But there aren't steam and sauna areas in the locker rooms. You have to go through a hall way to get to them.

The steam rooms and sauna are separate for men and women. That is, each sex has their own.

Do men go nude in the men only steam room?

  9. Yes. there are fireworks - I believe it's the port side - it's whichever is the right side of the ship - I've never been able to remember the correct names - anyhow, I know it's the right side. However, it gets really crowded, so if you have kids with you take them to the deck directly above the Vibe area - it's deck 17 I believe and you will have a clear view of the entire show. Go about 30-45 minutes early though, because people start setting up for their positions that early! The fireworks were on either Tuesday or Wednesday (I think it was Wednesday) - if you look back at the review, I have the specific day mentioned. Your kids will love the ship. There's a lot for them to do. The kids pool is great, miniature golf, Nick characters, etc.

Port side is the left side of the ship. (Left is four letter word, so is port, easy way to remember). Starboard is the right side of the ship. "Right" is the longer word between the words "port" and "starboard" . That may help you to remember the correct sides of any boat or ship.

  10. Nothing personal. It's not about fashion, it's about respecting those (other than at your table) who come to dinner in the MDR for elegant and fine dining. There is always room in the buffet for casual dining.

"Elegant and fine dining" , your kidding, right? The Titanic sailed long ago!! You should of sailed her!!

  11. I'm on the Glory and I love the way that the tables look! No tablecloths? NO PROBLEM!

    Yup, looks just like Applebee's!!

  12. I do not like chain restaurants in general (Like Red Dumpster or the Olive Pit) and they all serve Pre Frozen food. I also live in Florida the restaurants for the most part are not good at all and way over priced there are some decent steak houses here in the Tampa Sarasota areas but $$$. That is what I miss the most from cities like Detroit, Boston, New York, Dallas and so on they have some great food good mom and pop places and the quality is good or they close. Florida can get away with bland or frozen food to sell to the snow birds yuck. Carnival food is way better than what we get here.

    Good, go back north.
