We enjoy this as well, while at the same time try to be conscious about not wasting food.
Since we usually travel with others I find that I can usually find someone to eat what I don't if worst comes to worst. There have only been a couple of times that I just couldn't finish something. (Escargot comes to mind)

You can order as many sides and appetizers as you want. Additional entree is I believe $15 now.
And yes- it is great!
Thanks for the reply. I doubt that I would order 2 of these but one thing I enjoy about cruising is trying some new things and if I really don't like them then I can just order something that I know I like but as far as the bacon dish, it is a no brainer to me.

I had the bacon appetizer at a Capital Grille no long ago and found it to be fantastic. Hope this is still at the PG when we sail next year. One question for a person who has not sailed on HAL before, what are the chances of ordering 2 appetizers or are you only allowed one for the price?

To clean the TV remote, just fill the bathroom sink up with really hot water and soak the remote for an hour.
Works every time😁
HamOp I really feel that your profile attachment should be outlawed. I tried about 3 times to kill the but that landed on my computer screen.

We also keep our cabin tidy (make bed, hang up towels, put towels we want replaced in a pile on the counter, wipe down sink) every time we leave the room. The cabin stewards have enough to do.

I really like the site https://www.cruisedeckplans.com/DP/deckplans/index.php You can actually drag your deck over the decks above and below you or any other deck to see the relationship of your cabin to other areas of the ship. It has helped me choose my cabins.

Thanks for the updates. Sail on her next year and hoping that they do upgrade the interiors some. The pictures of the cabins I have seen look a little dated. Not bad by any means but just dated. Will be my first time on HAL so really won't have anything to compare to but sure am looking forward to the cruise.

Has anyone heard what upgrades the Noordam will receive during her dry dock this fall? All I can find is that she is supposed to be in the dry dock from late September until the middle of October. Just not sure what they are going to be doing. Thanks.

Following. Really enjoying your narrative. Wish I had the talent to story tell like you.

Crab Feast
in Alaska
8 hours ago, Eileen G said:Are you talking about the George Inlet crab feast in Ketchikan. We were there last week and they had chicken as an alternative.
I guess I was just asking in general. I have seen so many to choose from and we haven't tried to tie any excursions down yet since we still have over a year to go, but just trying to narrow them down so when we meet with our friends who we travel with later this summer we can start the real process. Thank you very much for your information.

Crab Feast
in Alaska
Do the excursions that feature a crab feast offer another items other than crab for those of us who do not eat shellfish. I am going to be the only person in our party who doesn't and don't want to keep the others from going to something like these but also just don't want to sit there with nothing to eat.

I booked a connecting cabin on our upcoming cruise because it was one of the last cove cabins left that was not under the galley but did change it when another came open. Would prefer a non-connecting cabin if possible but not going to not choose it if it is the only one left in a location I want.

That will be fine if you are an early riser.
That I am but not so much the wife but we should both be up and out by 10 at the latest.
-
Thanks for the information. Probably morning will be best.

I am one who is fine with the once a day room service but am wondering if anyone can tell me what time each service starts? If it starts to early I would like afternoon service but if the evening service would be when we are getting ready for dinner then I just don't know. Thanks for any help.

I am hoping that someone who just came off this route on the Magic on Sunday will do a review so and include the fun times and menus in the review.

Would love to see them and also the menus if possible. Hopefully someone from the last cruise will post soon.
-
Yes they do have a limited breakfast room service menu. You can do a search for room service menu and come up with some post that show the menu.

I always tip in cash to the bartender or waitstaff that serves us. That way it goes directly to them and not into a pool. They will remember you if you do tip extra.

We were on the June 3 sailing. I don't have menus, but I do have my Fun Times. Is there something in particular you are looking for? I haven't taken photos of them, but I can.

I believe that the formal nights would be Sunday and Thursday but just would like to know for sure please. Trying to plan for what nights to do the steakhouse and Italian.

Just bringing this one back to the front to see if anyone does have copies of the funtimes and menus.:)

Our vote goes to the Cove. Love being so close to the water and the privacy and shade that the cove offeres. Just make sure you try and find one mid-ship and under the atrium area. We try and get one under the excurision desk if possible. Very quite.

We always stop at Buc-ee's (a local gas station chain) at some point during the drive down and pick up a bag of Beaver Nuggets (which do not contain any beaver whatsoever LOL) to take onboard with us. :)
In-laws are from Tx and when we go there if we get a chance we love to go to Buc-ee's and I love the Beaver Nuggets. Can go thru a whole bag in no time.
Holland America " Meet me on Board" luggage Alaska
in Holland America Line
Posted
I am not sure if this is in another post but I am trying to find out if you have a land portion tour in Alaska before your cruise. when and where do you leave bags that you do not want to take with you on the land portion. I have read about the program but cannot find where you actually leave the luggage. We are flying in a day early and could not get a room at the Westmark where Holland America has us booked for the actual day of the tour so I am not sure if it is done at the airport or if we have to hold onto the luggage until the Westmark. Any help would be appreciated.
