We are leaving on Jan 24. So we will be getting off the boat on the day you are getting on it. There is an older New Orleans singer sailing on our cruise. The guy with the spiked up hair. He will be celebrating with his crew.
The singer is Vince Vance & he is wonderful, not to be missed!

I live in a port city and years ago you could get fantastic deals 4-5 days before a cruise but those days are long long gone.
Not necessarily. We got an LA residents rate 6 days out on the Elation for Thanksgiving last year & ended up paying $140 each for a 5 day cruise ocean view cabin. So you just never know when they need to fill cabins at the last minute.

We bring a couple of the battery operated tea lights. The plug in the bathroom will NOT work a night light.

I'd take the interior on the lido anyday. Its nice to be close to all the action.

We've had no problem taking apart our scooter & putting it into our interior cabin in pieces. We stuck it under the vanity. No big deal. If your friend won't pay for an upgrade you can try this. Also contact the special needs dept at Carnival to alert them.

I've never seen door decorations on sale in the shops. I don't think it would be a good idea if they did. If everyone's door looked the same, it would defeat the purpose of decorating your door for easy recognition.
.
I've never seen them either.

My only complaint about the Dream:( Though, love the ship!!
I second that!

The person who received the voucher when booking onboard needs to send in the voucher with your booking number. You have the process backwards. Say I received the voucher when I booked onboard. I need to send in the paper voucher with YOUR booking number & then you can receive the on board credit. I have done this twice & it has worked for my new friends.

Carnival does not do much for Mardi Gras. On some sailings out of New Orleans they throw a little party with a few beads but it's not too much & not too memorable. A group of us did our own Mardi Gras parade & had a great time on our Halloween cruise.

We did a "funny sunglasses" meet up on our last sea day at one of the bars on the lido deck to discuss our next years traveling/cruising plans. It was really fun!

We love the Elation and agree about having the best staff. Hoping to cruise her again 1/1/15 if the price drops!

On the Dream I was able to access my folio on the TV using the remote control. You can check the daily dining room menu too. Unsure if you can book the restaurant or anything else as I didn't try. However, I just checked someone else review with pictures, & it looks like you can order movies too.

We stayed in a lido interior on the Dream in Oct & it was great. I was surprised at how quiet it was especially for how close it was to all the action on the lido deck. We rebooked same cabin for next year and will always try for cabin on the lido deck now.

If you are on the Dream try the Lanai area deck 5 (outside martini bar). You can then walk away from any crowds.

It is true. One can be as gluttonous as they want.

I've heard there's a strong sewer smell on the Dream. Is that true, Bookbug? Happy sailing! :D
We just returned from a week on the Dream & we NEVER smelled any sewer smells.

If it's like our on-board credit that we are receiving by redeeming the points, it won't show up in the documents but WILL show up once you are on-board. I believe you will receive notice in your cabin. That is how the on-board credit happens (and it also shows up on the S&S account).
Correct. This was our recent experience on the Dream also.

Mine never appeared in my booking documents so I printed out my confirmations. When we boarded, I checked my sign & sail account & they were credited to my account.

Is the Serenity area nice? and the aft pool, since it isn't adults only, is it crowded all the time? happy cruising...
The Serenity area is nice but can be very windy while at sea. The aft pool is crowded but not as bad as the main pool on lido deck. Its not quite as hectic & the Tandori grill is back there.

We just returned from Halloween on the Dream. Everything functioned well, lines not bad at buffett, no sewer smell anywhere & the air conditioner worked fine! I had it down to a cool 66 degrees in my cabin! We enjoyed it so much that we rebooked onboard for next years Halloween cruise on the Dream (Oct 25, 2015)

If you are going to fret for the next 6 months over what your cabin temperature might be, then cancel the trip now and save your money.
ditto. Maybe you can start to worry about the weather that week too.

I too, have received every early saver obc that I have submitted. I will only book early saver. You MUST match the exact cat. Its easy once you know your category. Never had any problems so read the rules before you book this way.

I've been on the Dream 3x and have never smelled a sewer smell ever.
