Thanks very much for that. I presume that means personally visiting an Indian High Commission office?
How far in advance can you apply in this way?
-
We have been looking at applying for an e-visa for India (from the UK). The online form asks you to insert AIRPORT of entry and offers you a number of options, but no options for arriving by sea. Has anyone applied for a visa this way? Any advice gratefully accepted!
-
No they take them off you at the end of each flight

Postcards are a great idea!
We also have done Cosol tours and Rosie & Jims, both good but I think Cosol had the edge

My wife days that you are better taking your own
Temperature at night not bad even with air con, but temp in "Liberties" can be cool. The temp each day was 29/30degrees so air con a blessing
We walked around safely on any island that we felt like doing so. Just be as savvy as you would be at home

Just got back from this 2 week cruise, and had a fantastic time.
Regarding your questions:
1. Yes there are water dispensers on board the main ones being near the Lido buffet restaurant
2. You can take alcohol onboard and consume it, although the bottles of booze for sale in the on board duty free shops are very cheap (cheaper than on the plane)
3. In the on board laundries the detergent is pre-loaded free of charge, but no conditioner
4. The only excursion that we purchased from Thomson was "Turtle encounter" in Bardabos on the middle Sunday. This was great fun swimming and snorkelling with turtles followed by plenty of rum punches!!
On other islands we used local taxis costing about $20 U.S. Per person (much cheaper than Thomson) for about a 3/4 hour trip. They will take you wherever you want to go

access to the VIP is included in the premium seat price
The nearest changing rooms are in the spa/gym area I think
-
I e- mailed Thomson about this and when you do baggage drop they give you the pass for the no. 1 lounge and fast track security
-
It's usually cheaper to buy alcohol from the duty free shop on board. If you bring alcohol on board or buy it from the shop on board you are allowed to drink it in your cabin

Correction, there are FOUR self service laundries!!
-
There are two self service laundries on Celebration, one on deck 7 one on deck 3
They are free but you provide your own powder

In Athens (Pireaus) we took the hop on hop off bus, great value. When you get off the ship turn left and you will see the busses parked on the left ( 10 minute walk at most)
-
We have done the Carrribean twice with Thomson and have always done a mix of local trips via taxi and mini-bus and Thomson excursions, all without any problems. At most ports local mini-bus drivers will arrange for a full bus as you leave the ship.
We have a great trip via "Cosol" on st Lucis, you can find them on the Internet
On Dominica you can walk from the ship to the botanical gardens (about 20 mins) and whilst there there is a great walk up through the rain forest. Look for the signpost on your right hand side

Yes it's sea water, it is quite cool but I found it ok especially when the weather is hot

We were on Majesty about a month ago. About 50% dressed formally on formal night, for the other nights what you usually wear abroad is about right in the main dining room, although I think most people wore shoes not sandles

Yes, on Celebration-7thFeb. .we went last January also and had a brilliant cruise
-
We have had similar e-mails a out our Caribbean cruise next Feb. I asked about the cost about upgrading to premier seats but did not get a reply, any idea of the cost.
Also gave been unable to log in to "my Thomson" or api log in is this because it is more than 6 moths away?
-
We were on Celebration in the Caribbean this January. We did a mix of Thomson excursions and local ones. There are always taxis and mini buse at the port entrances and you can get good deals particularly if you can team up with a other couple
We did a trip in St. Lucia with Cosol tours (just GOOGLE IT) we booked on line.
It included a speed boat trip to a beach between the Pitons where the snorkelling was excellent. The whole trip was great!
If you need any more info just ask here

-
On Celebration for 2 weeks in the Caribbean on 25th Jan next year

I think that it is a one-off. We are on Majesty the week before and I have just checked the Venice cruise terminal log list and we are scheduled to be in Venice on the 8th. Majesty is also logged in for the 22nd but no ships are logged in for the week in-between
-
We are on Adriatic Explorer on 5th Sept, does anyone know if it is possible/convenient to swim and snorkel at any of the stops?
Thanks

I can't find that cheap price, where did you see it please
Dress code on the Spirit
in Marella Cruises (formerly Thomson)
Posted
Smart casual usually means trousers for men with a shirt or polo shirt and a dress or "trouser suit"type trousers for women. But we have found that the dress code is fairly flexible and that smart jeans are ok, but no shorts
