  1. Carnival has not banned smokers from cruising. Smokers just have to walk to get to a designated smoking area which might cause them to try to use lung capacity they don't have. I had nothing to do with a campaign against smoking on the balconies but am glad they are.

Reread my analogy. Do you truly not understand that my right to not be made physically ill by your smoke wafting my way trumps your right to light up wherever you please. You cannot reason with the unreasonable. Have a good day. :)

    I could not agree more.

Of course the fact that about 9 out of 10 of your customers are non-smokers might have something to do with the change.

    It's nothing personal, just business.:D

  2. Im a smoker , and if i want to smoke on the balcony i will still do it , I will just pay the $250.

I do like the idea of having one side of the ship smoking and one not

I do understand how non smokers dont like smokers , but its legal and we have the right to smoke

    my 2 cents

But I'll bet you will still gripe about dress/chair hog rules.

I think they probably will end up tossing you off the ship so be careful.

  3. People should be wary of what they wish for....

Non smokers will now have fresh air on their balconies but the deck with the casino and cigar bar will be two to three times as smoke filled and crowded as they are now, especially when it's raining outside.

As far as I'm concerned it'll save me money. The less I smoke = the less I drink = the less I gamble = the less I spend money. The only thing I'll do more now is eat.

Sounds like you got it made.:D

You will be healthy and richer.

On my next cruise I'll have a couple of extra drinks to make up for the loss of business.

  4. Already looking at NCL until they too change their policy.

It is a very sad day for this loyal Platinum Carnival cruiser:(.

After seeing the mulitple letters that are posted on FB with confirmation, I informed my group and we will strongly be considering another alternative that best fits us.

And I'm a "loyal Platinum Carnival cruiser:D" who is very happy with the new smoking rules.

Plan to book cruise 24 on Carnival later today.

Thanks Carnival for keeping us "loyal Platinum Carnival cruisers:)" happy.

  5. FTTF (faster to the fun) is sold to 15 cabins. Does it really irritate you that much you have to post about it?

    Great post.

We are Platinum and FTTF does not bother us at all.

While we are happy to receive the Platinum perks we do NOT cruise because of the perks.

  6. Unfortnately I do. Greatly reduced appetizer and desert choices. All the local dishes served in ports are for the most part low cost food items. Don't see the option of pasta dishes served as an appetizer. Anything you take away in terms of choices reduces the cost of food service. These choice reductions combined with what I think is a definate hit to the ambiance (no table cloths, pour your own water, family style dining etc) are going to make the MDR a much less "special" experience while reducing the cost of this area for Carnival. I know many on here don't care. With that said I know the other three couples we often travel with who without exception are disappointed in these changes. While we are all Platinum I envision far less support from our group as Carnival continues to reduce the level of entertainment and food quality. yes I know there are people who will disagree with our assessment they obviously have that right.

Sorry to hear you will no longer be cruising with Carnival.

I guess you will be leaving the Carnival boards as well.

    Sorry to see you go.:D

  7. NEED TO UNDERSTAND THAT CARNIVAL CRUISELINES DOES NOT HAVE A NORMAL BUDGET FOR "MEET & GREETS" LIKE OTHER LINES. WHEN SOMEONE ASK FOR A ROOM RESERVE 'REGARDLESS OF NUMBER OF GUEST' CARNIVAL WILL PROVIDE TWO(2) SHIP ON A STICK & TWO(2) BOTTLES OF CHAMPAGNE. NO CD OR OFFICER CAN VISIT NOR CAN THEY STOP IN (UNLESS YOU KNOW THAT CAPTAIN PERSONALLY) SO DON'T COME SCREAMING TO THE SENIOR CD OR BLAST CARNIVAL FACEBOOK PAGE FOR WHAT THEY DID NOT DO FOR AQ CC MEMBER. I HAVE GOTTEN SICK AND TIRED OF READING RANTS BY CC MEMBERS SAYING A CRUISELINE DOES NOT CARE. NOT EVERYTHING IN LIFE (or Cruising) IS FREE. IF YOU WANT TO ENTERTAIN YOU M&G GUEST TRY DOING IT ON YOUR DIME AS WELL. AND IMAGING IT BEING DONE 24 TIMES A WEEK FOR 52 WEEKS.

AND YES THE OPEN BAR WILL COST YOU. IT IS NOT FREE.

FYI IF I COULD TYPE IN BOLD LETTER I WOULD BE SCREAMING THIS AT ALL THOSE WHO WHAT A M&G TO COME WITH FREE DRINKS AND FOOD. GET IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. NOTHING IS FREE ON A CRUISE BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO HAVE HAD PAID FOR IT IN ONE WAY OR ANOTHER.

What you seem to want is special treatment because your a Cruise Critic group.

Sorry but a Cruise Critic group should get the same treatment as all the other groups that are sailing.

If other lines are giving you a better deal then cruise with them.

  8. Ok,

Yeah, I know this will not be easy.....

I realize everyone cruises for different reasons and probably not too many choose based on the bands or music,

But after a horendous lack on my first RCL experience...back to Carnival..

Looking to sail on a Carnival, 7 day, in late Aug. or in Sept. 2012.

We've decided to do our best, to book at last minute, as we change our initial booking-hoping to gain new and accurate insight on "what band is where".

With pitifully little help from Carnival in the past, I'm hoping Cruise Critic will come to my aid:) as we keep resurrecting this thread, an accurate list may be developed.

It would be good to share how we could communicate with specific bands via: websites, e- mails, etc. and find out about their contracts, ending date and if they are re-upping and/or changing ships.

    Any other helpful ideas appreciated!

Some of the bands as examples:

    Blood Power,

    Music Society,

    Music Highlights,

    Music Manila,

    Music Unlimited (has name changed?)

    Music Boardwalk,

    Music Asia,

    Please add others:

    Thanks for the help!

    Mike

Revolver on the Paradise by a wide margin.

    They have a Facebook page.

  9. Anything is possible, just because you didn't see it happen on your cruise doesn't mean it has never happened before.

Out of 18 cruises I've never seen or heard of spoiled or rotten food on any of the cruises I've been on.

But that still doesn't mean it didn't happen to someone else.

But how come they always bring it to Cruise Critic.

The boards have become nothing but the complaint department.
