How was the snorkeling on Brewer's?  Did you have any trouble finding transportation back to the port?

Snorkeling was great!  We were with people who had been to Trunk Bay the day before and they said the snorkeling was better.  It's great because it's not crowded.

We had arranged with our Taxi driver to pick us up at a pre arranged time.

  2. Was in Tortola on 9/4 and went to Brewers Bay Beach.  Taxi was $8 pp each way.  We had a great driver who didn't drive to fast over the hills or around the curves.  We paid the driver once there and arranged for him to come back at a predetermined time.  We were the first cruise ship passengers there that day. We stayed about 3 1/2 hour and there were no more than 20 people on the whole entire beach.  We rented lounge chairs at $5 a piece.  The snorkeling was great.  Passengers who had been at Trunk Bay the day before said they saw more fish in the first 15 minutes in the water at Brewers Bay than their time at Trunk.  I saw two eels, lots of trumpet fish and tons of other fish that I usually see snorkeling.  The one time I don't take my camera and there is a lot to see.

We didn't order food from the restaurant but we did get beer and soda.  The water was relatively clear but you could see the leaves and garbage that had blown into the water from Dorian.

Don't judge a book by it's cover.  These people got out of the taxi as we were leaving and were ready to get right back in.   Taxi driver convinced them to stay.  Hope they enjoyed it. Don't hesitate to go.  You'll have a peaceful day and if snorkeling is your thing you'll enjoy it.

  3. We were just there last week.  Lounges were $5 each.  We were only there a couple of hours and snorkeled so I didn't ask about umbrellas.  Bar and Restaurant were open.  No more than 20 people on the beach.

We went to the galley tour and was told that the ship usually has three weeks of supplies on it at one time. They replenish what they use and the ports they can. They have a main supplier and use them solely, except for emergencies. I didn’t see any unloading in Tortola and it would be a nightmare as you actually dock at one protruding out in the water.

Besides, after leaving Tortola, we were told we were going to Nassau. We didn’t know about the change until late morning today.

We took on a small truckload of water in Tortola.  They were waiting to load it on the ship when we got back from excursion.

Oh yes there were complainers who were so upset about this. Made me sick listening to them. I just walked away. Celebrity even refunded the guests 1 days cruise fare to everyone. Not that I expected that to happen. We were given the opportunity to donate that money to the relief fund. And that’s exactly what we did. This is the least that we could do to help.

David this makes me sad that there were complainers.  I talked with a lady last night after dinner who was in the dining room all day helping make boxed meals.  I wish I had known.  Would have loved to help.

    Hey Everyone.

We are wanting to book a private catamaran tour in St. Thomas for September 3rd. The Equinox docks at 8am, do you think it is possible to make it to the close by docks by 8:45 am for a 9am departure?

    Thanks for any insight!

Do you have any room on your catamaran tour?  If you are booking with a company that might have room can you share.  We are on the same sailing and really haven't planned anything.

    Thank you

    Marie

  7. We've been to Roatan twice.  Used Roatan Eco Tours the first time :http://roatanecotour.com/

Had a fantastic day snorkeling.  Because there were only 4 of us on the tour he gave us the option to snorkel another spot versus beach time.    I would not hesitate to use them again.

The second time went with Radical Adventures Catamaran:  http://www.svfreeradical.com/  We had a fantastic day as well.  We went to a completely different part of the island and it included tons of food as well as booze and non alcoholic drinks.  This was more expensive but you got much more.  I would not hesitate to use them again.

Both included transportation to and from the ship.  I found both here on the ports of call.

Can you share some of the major differences between the 2.  We had looked at Radical Adventures but they were almost double the cost of the other companies.

    Major differences are:

Roatan Eco Tours is a pontoon boat, you just get a snack and beer, water, and possibly soda (my memory is failing today).  You get beach time.  The snorkel site is on the north side of the island so the water is not flat calm but calm with a little bit of waves.  Ride to dock is not too long (maybe 20 minutes max - seemed shorter coming back to ship)  There were only a couple boats where we snorkled.

Radical Adventures is a catamaran, you get breakfast snacks, snacks full lunch, beer, soda, water, liquor.  No beach time.  The Snorkel site is on the south side of island.  Water was flat calm, not even a ripple in both sites we snorkeled.  I felt the snorkel site was much better than the blue channel and the spot off west bay beach.  The ride was about 40 -45 minutes going and again seemed shorter coming back.  We were the only boat in the first snorkel stop and a dive boat came and went outside the reef the second stop.  You do need a minimum of 6 for this trip but shouldn't be a problem if posted on roll call and fb pages.  We were able to get the required minimum right away and I only booked cruise 3 weeks before sailing.

Both crews were great!  If you have never snorkeled or been to the beach in Roatan - Roatan Eco Tours offers both in one trip.

Like I said I wouldn't hesitate to do either again.  We will be in Roatan in October and I am letting our friends decide which one they want to do.

  9. We just went on the Allure and on average each day I had

    fresh squeezed oj each morning

1 or two cosmos at afternoon trivia ($13 each)

1 drink with dinner (no less than $10 it was either a wine or a cosmo)

a shot of baileys with my coffee

a drink or two after dinner either at a show, in the pub, or the champagne bar.

I also grabbed bottle water at night to take back to the room.

My husband had specialty coffee with his breakfast and an espresso after dinner each night and usually one or two drinks more in the evening.

We did drink during the day but it was probably 3 drinks on a sea day.

  10. We've been to Roatan twice and both times snorkeled.  We went with different companies both times as each offered two completely different experiences.

First time we went we used Roatan Ecotours   http://roatanecotour.com/the-tour/   We had a fantastic tour.  We actually snorkeled 3 stops versus stopping at the beach.  There were only 4 of us on the boat.  Allesandro and Javi are great guides.  Javi even took my camera and dived down to get better pictures for me.  We had a great time and would not hesitate to go with them again.  Roatan is beautiful and lush but it's true beauty is under the water.

The second time we went we went with Radical Adventures  http://www.svfreeradical.com/  We went to the east/south side of the island where the road ends and boarded a catamaran.  We had two snorkel stops, tons of food and drink and a relaxing day.  The snorkel stops were better than the ones we went to on the west end and west bay.  The first stop we were the only boat and the second another boat came along but were outside the reef because they were diving.

I would not hesitate to do either again.  Both were well worth the money.

  11. Our friend who is sailing with you is now in a hospital in Cozumel!! He and his wife had to leave the ship this morning and he does not know how many days he may be there. He is an otherwise healthy guy with no other medical conditions.

Although I remember you stating the Captain himself had mentioned Noro earlier in the week, the medical staff onboard is still denying it saying he probably ate some bad cole slaw on Labadee!!

Just a precaution to please be sure and wash your hands and take all precautions to keep safe!

We are on the next sailing and got an email to day to not show up to the port until 12 due to enhanced sanitation measures. We just stocked up on lysol wipes, hand soap and hand sanitizer.

  12. I recently met a cruiser off the Anthem while in Bealls Outlet and he told me they paid $15 per person (I think each way) through the ship for a shuttle to the Ron Jons area. There is a beach there, some shopping, and the Cocoa Beach pier is within walking distance. There are restaurants in that general area but check yelp or tripadvisor.

If you are set on going to the port for lunch I do not recommend Fishlips. For seafood go to Seafood Atlantic. Some of the freshest seafood in the port. My other go to places are Grills, Milikens and Baja Chowder.

  13. No it is not.

Last time we were there when we got off the ship there was a little square there with vendors set up selling local made wares.
