  1. @AndyB Yes, the 21 Day fix is the Beachbody program. I never paid for the program, just figured out how to do it on my own. The Shakes are so expensive so I don't use them. I bought the food containers at Walmart.com. The colors are different but that didn't matter. I've attached a chart I made to keep track of the food containers, and a chart with the kind of foods you can eat if you want. I do whatever exercises I want to. 21 Day fix.xlsx 21-Day-Fix-Food-List-Reference-Guide.pdf
  2. Thanks. I do the 21 day fix, but I kind of cheated. I bought the containers at Walmart on the As Seen on TV section. They are different colors than the Fix, but still work. And then I went around the internet and found all the charts and info I needed for it. No way I'm going to put out the kind of money that they want. And then I do my own exercises. I love Jillian Michaels! (Sorry about those extra quotes, not sure where they came from and I can't get rid of them.)
  3. I don't think it's about being smart. It's more like that darn flab just won't let go no matter how hard we work. Guess it's gotten attached to us. 😄
  4. I'm new here. I figured out some of the things I was doing wrong on my 21 day fix diet and fixed them, so I've been on it seriously for a week. I've done it before a few years ago and it worked well then. I lost 2 lbs this week, but normally I lose the most the first week of the 21 day fix, then less after that. I'll take it. I have almost three months till my cruise in November, and I want to lose at least 7 more lbs by then. I've been trying to walk at least 9,000 steps a day, and preferably over 10,000. I've started walking the 8 flights up to my office once a day. I'm going to the gym at least 4 times a week, but I only stay for 30-40 minutes and either use the treadmill or the weight machines on alternating days. I'm 62 and want to keep my muscles in shape. But I tell you, the older you get, the harder it is. If I'd worked this hard when I was younger, I'd have been too thin. And now I'm struggling to lose the flab and it's going way too slowly.
  5. I managed not to gain weight last cruise somehow. I ate no bread at all. I figured it was just wasted calories and I didn't really need it. I was as careful as I could be on my meals but I did eat some desserts. I only had one pina colada the whole cruise and I had water or sugar free drinks the rest of the time. I went to the gym, and we also walked and walked and walked. I love when the ship has a wrap around deck to walk on.
  6. That's my downfall. Then once I get home and I've been eating at fast food places, and on the cruise, I have a hard time getting back to my healthy lifestyle. Actually, last time I cruised I used the gym and we walked around the promenade deck all the time, I did well. But then my unhealthy lifestyle creeped back in and I gained after I got home. This is a pattern that I need to break.
  7. Thanks everyone. Even though I'm doing the 21 day fix, which normally works for me, I started counting my calories on MyFitnessPal. And I was surprised at how many I had. So I'm tweaking things a bit, and I'm managing to cut down the calories. I don't think that I was following it the exact way I was supposed to this time. We'll see how this goes. I do like the 21 day fix because it's a healthy way of eating and getting the correct portion size. I just started a journey to grow out my gray hair, and I want to be fit and healthy so I don't feel old. I'll join you next Thursday to see if the changes helped. I need to only weigh myself once a week.
  8. I'm the opposite, I have to have silence. I bring earplugs. My husband brings a small sound machine with him.
  9. Thanks. I'm more interested in being healthy than being an exact weight. I obviously am not going to weigh what I did when I was younger. Why does cruise food have to be so good? lol And I can be doing great in eliminating the sugar and eating healthy, and then I go on the cruise, and once I get off I cannot get back to my healthy habits again. But I cannot stop cruising, not going to happen.
  10. Hi, my name is Kathy and I'm a cruisaholic. And everytime I cruise I, of course, gain weight even though we walk a lot on the ship. I need some accountability. Our next cruise is in November on the MSC Meraviglia and I want to lose about 15 lbs. before then. I started the 21 day fix a week ago. I like it because it's a common sense plan that I can stick to. And I'm trying to go to the gym about 3-4 times a week, but I only work out for about half an hour either on the weight machines 30 minute loop, or the treadmill. I also walk as much as possible during my work day, so I normally get in at least 10,000 steps. But I'm 61 and it's getting harder and harder to keep the weight off. What have you done that works?
  11. I agree and hope people listen. Not everyone wants to be woken up all night long by slamming doors. A little courtesy goes a long way!
  12. Thanks. Good idea on the wipes. Didn't think of that. And it seems like we should wear old clothes. I saw on one of the YouTube videos where a parrot put a hole in a man's shirt.
  13. We booked with Daniel Johnson's tour directly. I'm reading about how the monkeys take everything and not to take anything into the cage with you. Can you take your phone/camera in, or should I take pictures from outside the cage?
  14. Not this time. We're doing a more southern Caribbean itinerary.
