  1. Hello,

Now that Herod isn't doing tours, what do you suggest?  Looking for a comprehensive tour of the island, similar to Herod's... We'd like to do the mud bath, taste some food, etc...

    Heading out in December.

    Thanks.

  2. Hi.

We're cruising out of NOLA just before Fat Tuesday.... a dream of mine (I'm an adult) but I'm taking my impressionable young kids with me (5, 7) and my parents (mid-70s, get around but definitely showing their age).  We want to see the town, eat in great restaurants, stay in nice/convenient places, but I need to stay in my lane as a mom and as a doting daughter. (My kids are super sheltered, but very well behaved and do very well in public situations/fancy restaurants/learning opportunities).

Best place to stay?  Best place to eat?  Things to do?

Beignets are a must.  Fun activities for kids is preferred...

Flying in, do we need to rent a car?  Staying 2 days before we cruise out... We'll also have nearly a full day after we disembark.

A big please and a huge thanks for your help!

  3. Hi...

Looking for recommendations for a "private-feeling" helicopter tour in Skagway.  We'll be there mid-August.  6 people, ages 5-75.  We want an experience where we're the only ones on the chopper, and we land on a hunk of ice, and the pilot/guide lets us run around, and then points out the various natural features we're seeing.  Maybe a 20 minute ride to the glacier, 20 to walk, 20 to ride back.  Bonus if they pick us up from the cruise port.

We don't want to add in dog-sledding stuff, btw.

    What you got? lol!

    Thank you!!

  4. Hello,

I need recommendations please for combo excursions...

We want to do the following:

    Whale Watching

Glacier Walk (where we're the only ones around -- not busy Mendenhall)

Bear Observation (preferred at a salmon spawning ladder)

    White Pass Train

Berring Sea Crab Fishing (Deadliest Catch)

    Our ports:

    Skagway

    Juneau

    Ketchikan

How do we fit all 5 activities in at these 3 ports?

    Thank you!!

  5. HI.

I'm looking for recommendations for a glacier walk excursion (booking directly)...

    Required:

    Kids allowed (ages 5+)

Entire party of 6 fit in one chopper

No other people join us in the chopper (pilot ok, of course)

Takes us to a glacier where we are basically the only ones -- we don't want a really busy glacier walk experience

    Preferred:

    Departs from Skagway port

    Thanks so much!

  6. Hello,

Can you recommend a tour operator/charter to get us from the cruise port (Disney) to The Baths? We can't book through the ship because they only take 5+.

Not looking to spend a fortune, but want something reliable and easy.

    Thank you!

  7. I need some help... We don't have tolls where I live...

Traveling in a rental car from MCO to Port Canaveral.

Can someone walk me through how the tolls work? Are they marked? Do I stop at each one? How many are there? How much do they cost?

Feel free to talk to me like I'm a child -- I want to be well prepared!

  8. Hi.

I'm looking for a place for dinner, the night before our cruise... Grandparents, parents and littles. We have a rental car, so we can travel to the right spot. Obviously looking for someplace kid-friendly, but the kids are very well behaved and used to acting appropriately in restaurants. They are also well fed, and don't need chicken fingers/burgers. Not looking to spend a fortune. Prefer something that feels local (no chains)... Right now our lead contenders are Grills and Fishlips, but they seem so touristy and we want good food at good prices with good service -- the kind of place you go if you live there and have family in town.

So, tall order, I know... What you got? LOL!

  9. Hello,

We are trying to decide between Calico Jacks and Hilton. They are both along 7 Mile Beach, right?

We will have 2 preschoolers with us.

Which beach do you prefer? Why? And would you mind giving me step by step directions on how to get there...

    Thanks in advance!

  10. Thinking about doing this...

    * Anyone do it recently?

    * Anyone know of any coupon codes?

    * Anyone know how they could have 1500 positive reviews on TripAdvisor and only 1 terrible? That seems crazy -- is it really that good??

    * Anyone know which sites/historical spots they stop in?

    * I'd like to wrap in the staircase too -- can I get there on my own?

    Thanks in advance...

  11. For those of you who have done the Sea Trek excursion, how difficult is it to do? I'm not asking about the breathing... I'd like to know if someone in their 70s, who isn't very fit, would be able to get into the water and get going? He can do stairs, he can walk, etc... But ladders, etc are a bit of a challenge... Thoughts?

  12. We are staying at the Hampton Inn on TG Lee Blvd the night before. I have booked a one way rental car from MCO to the Port Canaveral drop off with Budget. We usually like to head over to the port early plus it also allows us to stop by the grocery store for wine and any last minute items. Then we are using Cortrans Shuttle for transportation from the port back to the airport. They are $20pp.

    Hope this helps!

The Cortrans shuttle for $20/p -- Does that include all taxes, fees, tolls? Does it include the tip? Thank you!

  13. There is really no reason to bring boxed wine (unless that is your preferred kind) but stick to the quantities that they allow. Keep in mind that with Disney, you can bring beer/wine back on the ship at each port. So, bring your good bottles day one, and then buy more in port and bring it back to the boat. :)

To clarify, if you bring back wine/beer from the port, you are allowed to keep it and consume it in your stateroom.... But if you bring hard liquor back from port, they take that and lock it up until desembarkment. Is that right?

  14. But if you are thinking the Hampton because its closer to Brickell, there is no need to pick it for that reason, Brickell is a 10min walk, 5min Uber or 10min free metromover ride away.

Is it safe to walk around the area of IC and all the way to the Brickell area? I've seen some warnings on here about how dangerous Miami can be.

Obviously, we'll take usual precautions, but we certainly don't want to go asking for trouble...

  15. Which ship? Depending on the ship, Cagney's either has its own bar (often shared with Moderno), or they use a nearby bar for drink orders. In either case, you can go to that bar even if you're not eating at Cagney's, and I assume they'll serve you a Speakeasy Martini under the UBP (but I haven't tried this personally).

    We'll be on the Getaway...

  16. Hi.

How does it work with the UBP in regards to specialty restaurants? If we aren't eating in one, is there a way to get the specialty drinks they serve at the restaurant bars?

For example, I've heard great things about the Speakeasytini at Cagney's, but we weren't planning to eat there. Is there an actual bar in the restaurant I can just walk up to and order from?

Any advice on doing so? For example, is it necessary to avoid dinner rush hour or any time is fine?

    Thanks!

  17. So the price difference (with the fees) is more like $100...

And we don't land until 7p...

But in the morning, we'll need breakfast and we were hoping to see a bit of Miami or something "cool" before we get on the ship (we're not "first in line" people).

    Does that change anything??
