  1. Looking at the Princess tours for the Great Barrier Reef. Looking at both the Great Barrier Reef Experience in Arlie Beach and the Best of Port Douglas: The Great Barrier Reef in Port Douglas. Has anyone done these? Trying to decide if one is better than the other. They look similiar and I don't think we need to do both.Any suggestions?

  2. Thanks to those that responded. We are going in the fall on a separate non cruise related tour.  Because we will be limited to a suitcase each I know we will have to really pack smart...probably 1 suitcase for the 10 day tour and the other with cruising attire.  Interesting that jeans were worn, as I was wondering if that was appropriate. Curious if you did some laundry in your room so as not to take too many socks, etc? Always thankful for advice from seasoned travelers!

  3. I'm a bit confused on the process. From reading it looks like you get off the ship and can exchange your currency right there. How is there enough time for you to get to your tours if the entire ship disembarks at the same time and everyone is standing in line for currency?

  4. Cruise leaves Brooklyn Cruise Terminal, Pier 12, Redhook, 72 Bowne St, Brooklyn.

Coming in night before and looking at spending night at Comfort Inn, Brooklyn Red Hook, 17 Seabring St. This looks like it is only 1-2 miles from the port.

The 3 airports vary from 10-17 miles to the hotel. Thinking of taking taxi for convenience. Any idea on cost? More than $75?

Those that are familiar with this area, am I correct in my approximate distances?

    Thanks in advance!

  5. I guess I really started a firestorm! LOL! We've decided to each take 3 bottles in our carryon, have all 3 boarding passes handy......and just in case things don't go in our direction, make sure that we each take the 2 most expensive wines with us! Either way, we're on vacation and ready for a great trip!:)

  6. We are going in a couple weeks on 26 day British Isles cruise. Because we booked this as one cruise as compared to 2 back to backs....do we just get our sail and sign charges at the end of the 26 days? We are trying to pre-plan our credit card payments prior to leaving so we pay enough ahead to avoid any interest charges. Thanks!

  7. We are US citizens, have passports (which have been recently renewed) and received this today from Princess on our upcoming British Isles trip. A bit confused. The first sentence makes me think because we are US citizens we have nothing else we have to do, but when I read the second, I am now confused and wondering. Are we off the hook on this? We are taking the 26 day cruise, staying in London a week and then bringing the Queen Mary back. What do you think?

"As a reminder, you will be visiting countries which are member of the Schengen Agreement.Schengen Agreement countries require passport holders from various countries to obtain a visa in advance. This requirement does not apply to Australian, Canadian, New Zealand, UK, or U.S. passport holders. A multiple entry visa will be required if a non-Schengen country is visited between visits to Schengen countries (Example;depart from Italy, visit Turkey, arrive in Greece.)Schengen Agreementy countries include: Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estronia, Finland,France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Malta, Norway, Netherlands, Poland,Portugal,Slovakia, Slobenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switerland.

    Thanks!

  8. Enjoyed reading comments. We'll be taking a 28 day cruise in the spring and will be doing some hand washing. Beware of sending out your delicates! We still laugh at the time we sent my bras to be cleaned and they all came back with the hooks closed and fused shut! My husband had to use something to pry them open for me to finish out the cruise. Unfortunately they were not worth a darn and had to be pitched when we returned home. Lesson learned!:)

  9. I agree. I had to call earlier this week to cancel a cruise and rebook a different one about 2 weeks earlier in January. I was impressed that they could handle it so politely and that she was able to transfer my earlier deposit to the new booking ( with a bit more additional money due). I was expecting to put a new deposit down and wait several weeks for the refund. I was pleasantly surprised. My Princess TA is wonderful!:)
