  1. We did a private ATV tour of the island and had a freaking BLAST! We were the only ones on the tour and the owners son was our guide. Spent four hours out and got to see so many things, including a stop at the Aloe farm. So much cheaper than the ship excursions and so much more fun. They dropped us off, at our request, down in the shopping area so we could eat and shop and walk leisurely back to the ship. We would do it all over again!!

  2. Here's another question for ya'll!

We booked through a TA for our Anthem cruise in September. Part of the "deal" that we got included the Royal Replenish packages for each of us. Those will be "loaded" to our account the day of the cruise from what I understand.

My question is if we want the Premium beverage package, which is on sale right now, say $39 a day. Should we purchase that package now and will Royal adjust our account for the difference with the other package?

    I hope I made sense.

  3. There are cabins above you on deck 13 - the Windjammer is on deck 14 - don't think you should hear any noise.

    Pat

Goodnight! I am a DORK! I looked at something wrong, yet again. Thanks so much!! I feel better now! On our honeymoon we were on Carnival Magic and our room was after under the Lido Deck. All we heard that week was desk chairs being moved!

  4. I just realized that on our Sept 8th cruise on Anthem, we are directly under the Windjammer, 12300. Does anyone know if there is any issues with Noise? etc. Just curious as I don't think we can switch rooms, but wanted to be prepared on the noise.

Ugh. I really thought I had avoided this type of scenario.

    Thanks in advance Ya'll.

  5. The hair dryers onboard are not the same as what most people have at home but they work just fine. It may take you a bit longer to dry your hair but you are on vacation what's the rush. My only suggestion is to bring a rubber band as most have the button you need to hold down while using the dryer. Put the rubber band over the button and no need to hold it. Leave it on the dryer for the next person in the cabin when done. Had someone else do this a few cruises ago and thought it was a wonderful idea. Try to pass it on.

EXCELLENT idea!! I will have to remember that little trick!!

  6. SweetThang use your sweetness and ask nicely and politely to talk about the flight. Say that you have concerns now that the time was changed and security has tightened for both ships and planes and you know the world is such a mess right now and --- well you get the idea. Perhaps you will be fortunate and get a "nice" and helpful person! Yes there are still some. And for $400 if the first one don't work just say -- well now I need to take a break and think about this for a minute or too. I'll call you right back. Hang up and hope the next one is better. I have had this work. The hard part is being a SweetThang after all that hold music. Good Luck. Pulling for you. Go a day early if at all possible. A necessity in current travel climate NOT a luxury. Let the hubby find another way to shave a few dollars.

BowieMeMe, I made the call and got them to change it to the day before! I just told them that by changing my flight by 30 mins broke the time frame for us to be able to make our cruise and that they made the change without letting us know. The original flight was for 7:15 am and they changed it to 7:40 am. She tried to put us on the 6 am flight that same day but I said no way I was going to get up at 3 am to fly out for their convenience. :) Which is true. This chick is not getting up that early! LOL

So we arrive a day earlier at the same time and now will get to spend a little time in NYC. Hubby's never been so it will be an abbreviated trip into town.

  7. Thanks everyone for all the advice. We never did get a notice that the departure time changed, so once my hubby gets home from work and I am going to approach him about going out a day early. Once I get that, then I am on the phone with United.

Normally we travel out the day before, but who knows were my mind was when I was setting up the trip. I must have gotten so excited that I just got it all jumbled up in my mind!

  8. Well I have an issue/question.

We are sailing on Anthem in September. I booked our flights out of Houston to Newark on a nonstop flight leaving early morning and arriving in Newark at 12:20 pm. Now I am starting to think that maybe we are cutting that too close as the departure time from United has changed once already.

Cancelling the tickets or trying to change them will cost me $400 total for the two of us. Which when you are married to a Cab (Cheap A$$ Ba$tard - he calls himself that), then you try everything possible to make changes that won't cost an arm and a leg.

My thoughts were maybe not using the flight going from Houston to Newark and just using our Air miles for one way and then using the already booked return for the 17th, which we know we won't have an issue making. (Unless there's an act of God or something).

My question is, does anyone know that if we don't use our first leg of the roundtrip that we bought, does it cancel all other tickets or will we be able to use the return tickets?

Thought I would ask here first before getting on the phone with United and listen to the awful hold music.

Any other suggestions we might use?

We will be getting Trip insurance here soon, so will that help should we miss the ship? etc if we can't find an alternative to the flights?

  9. sailing on AOS and we have reservations at the Hyatt Place in the San Juan City Center...has anyone stayed there and any feed back on this site would be greatly appreciated...only staying there 1 night for a our pre-night...thanks in advance...

We stayed there the night before our Cruise in November. LOVELY hotel!!! Beautiful rooms, great staff and wonderful morning of breakfast. We could the the pier from our room and watched the ships pull out and come in that night and next morning!

We ended up walking into town to have dinner at a place called Casita Miramar and it was FABULOUS and very reasonable. https://www.facebook.com/casitamiramarpr/

HIGHLY recommend it. You will have to take a Taxi from the Hotel to the Airport but see if you can share it with someone else. We happen to run into a couple that was boarding with us and so we shared the cost. Think it was something like $18 or so .
