  1. For a private tour the provider in Cozumel asked us in which pier the Freedom of the Seas will dock that day.

There are three piers: Puerta Maya, Punta Langosta or TMM International Pier - does somebody know which one it’s going to be?

    Many thanks... :)

  2. We're addicted to geocaching since 2008 and addicted to cruising since 2011. :D

This autumn it will be our first time in the US and in the Caribbean since starting geocaching. Any tips for geocaching in Florida and in the Western (Labadee, Falmouth, Georgetown, Cozumel) and Eastern (Coco Cay, Charlotte Amalie, Philipsburg) Caribbean would be nice. I really appreciate that! :)

  3. We've been to Marseille last summer on the Legend OTS.

After leaving the ship you can grab a city map for free in the cruise terminal. Staff told us that buses were on strike quite often, it happened during our visit. So it was not possible to take bus line #35 to city center. There is taxi service in front of the cruise terminal, cabs arrived every minute, no long waiting time. We shared a cab with another couple and the cost was 17 EUR in total for the 4 of us, to Vieux Port. This is a nice spot for starting Marseille DIY.

There was no ship shuttle service at that day.

  4. That sounds great. It would be so nice to book this excursion with a return to the ship at the end of it.
Was it worth it? How long was the excursion and did you have enough time at KSC? Did you go through immigration with your excursion group or how does it work?
I'm thinking about writing an enquiry via email to RCI.
  5. Thank you very much. So we have to rethink our plans for turnover day. We're sailing out on the day the first cruise is over, it's a B2B on the Freedom OTS sailing out of Port Canaveral. What can we do on this day? Staying on ship? Heading out to...?! Do you have any ideas?

Thanks for the link to the laundry service. Because there'll be no time for KSC that day, we can maybe do some laundry. ;-) The ships laundry service isn't very cheap, we never used it.
  6. Cachecruiser, DW and I will be on FOS in eary June. I was wondering when you are sailing. I was thinking it would be fun to set up an event cache on one of the piers.
We're sailing in November. Too pity, because set up an event together sounds funny.

We hope to find at least one cache in each port. But this seems to be difficult in some of the ports, for example in Falmouth. There is no cache in the port area, and we still have no plans what to do the day, so maybe an event could help?! There are many ships in port that day, that will increase the chance any geocachers will attend. ;)

  7. Anyway, when we do get to Copenhagen on the b2b turnaround day, many if us are hoping we can go to the center city to visit/tour for a few hours. I do hope we'll get that chance.
Turnaround day in Copenhagen is so easy, we did it in 2012 on the Brilliance OTS. We got our new seapass cards at the last day of the first cruise at guest relation. We went off the ship on turnover day on ourselves, a gathering with other consecutive cruisers wasn't necessary. There is no immigration, so it is very easy and comfortable walking off the ship such as in a normal port of call. Depending on where the ship will dock, you can leave the terminal area by foot or by shuttle bus. There is a train station nearby, just around a corner and the way is marked on the street (colored lines on the pavement). From there, the train takes about 5-10 minutes to main station. You can get tickets either at a (single) ticket machine at the station or at a kiosk (7eleven). From there it is easy to walk through the city by yourself.

Alternatively you can get tickets for the Ho-Ho right outside the terminal. There are 2 companies and you can take a seat directly at the terminal. Very easy and comfortable if you do not want to get to city centre by yourself.

Hope this will help you. Enjoy your trip and have a nice day in Copenhagen and the Norwegian Fjords. It is wonderful. :)

  8. Hello,

we'll stay a day in Port Canaveral during our B2B cruises and I have some questions about the changing day between both cruises.

Is there enough time on that day for heading to Kennedy Space Center? I don't know how much time we have to count in for the process of checking out and checking in, getting new seapass cards etc. How much time does it take driving from the ship to KSC? I think all onboard will be at 3 or 4 p.m., so I don't know if a tour to KSC will be stressful or not that day?!

Is there a laundry service at the port area to hand in and pick up some laundry?

Thank you very much in advance. :)
  9. We're interested in the islands of Western and Eastern Caribbean itinerary. And Florida of course. Second time in the US, but first time as geocachers. :)

We have a Oregon 300, which is none of the newest gps from Garmin, but we're happy with it. Before traveling we make pocket queries from the area we are going to and upload them to the gps. So it is very easy to look if there is a container nearby.

Because there are not so many geocaches in every single port we're thinking about planning short events for the ports. This guarantees to find a geocache in every country we are cruising. It's all about numbers. :D

  10. Hello,

we're geocachers, going for the treasure hunt wherever we're traveling, of course during our cruises in the past.

Now it will be our first time in the Caribbean on the FOS. While I began looking for geocaches in the ports of call, I was thinking about other geocachers in the cruise critic forums. I'm sure there are a lot of geocachers here.

Any recommendation for geocaches in the Caribbean would be nice. I'm very interested in your stories. :)

    Thank you in advance.

    Happy Hunting! :D

  11. Hello,

has anybody rented a car or a vespa/scooter in Falmouth? Is it possible respectively is there a car rental station at the port in Falmouth? Any recommendation?

I'm doing a lot of research but the nearest car rental station I've found is located in Montego Bay.

    Thanks in advance. :)

  12. Hello,

we will cruise on the Freedom of the Seas in November, 7 Night Western Caribbean (Labadee, Falmouth, George Town, Cozumel) and 7 Night Eastern Caribbean (CocoCay, Charlotte Amalie, Philipsburg) as a B2B, departing from Port Canaveral.

We would like to book private excursions and are not sure if we have to consider different times (ship time vs. local time) in the ports. Because there are different time zones during the cruises, does the Freedom change time or not? If not, which ports of call have different times than the ship?

    Many thanks in advance.
