  1. Unique Area—Central Park & Boardwalk 9/10

    Centrak Park/Boardwalk... Typo/Leftover from Oasis review? [emoji1]

Just a quick recall of scores:

    Oasis of the Seas 89%

    Disney Dream 89%

    Allure of the Seas 86%

    Norwegian Escape 85%

    Carnival Breeze 83%

    NCL Breakaway 78%

    Celebrity Silhouette 77%

    Carnival Victory 74%

    MSC Divina 70%

    NCL Sky 62%

OCD kicking in.. [emoji4] .. but you differentiate brand between Breakaway/Sky and Escape.

  2. Thanks -- I'm not a CIBC customer and I didn't know about this service, but it sounds pretty neat. Though when I look at the site's FAQ, the United States is not listed as a country you can send money to...in fact, none of them list USD as a currency you can use to send.

    How about ZenBanx?

Manage Multiple Currencies From One Account

Your Zenbanx account allows you to hold and exchange multiple currencies.... No more time consuming bank visits. Access your currencies any time, day or night. Your money is ready for you when you need it.

Access Your Money from ATMs Worldwide

As a Zenbanx customer you receive a debit card to access your money from ATMs worldwide, or to purchase goods from stores worldwide. Best of all, it even lets you access different currencies from your account when traveling abroad. Now that's convenience.

It would require figuring out how to move your RBC USD over (maybe they can help), but then you get USD access for free.

I have a $10 bonus referral code if you are interested. https://zbc.zenbanx.ca/#raf/jhowey-1

  3. You don't need to have finished up your OBC. Any remaining OBC will be refunded in US $ to the credit card that you put on file. ( as long as you have used up all non refundable OBC)

Ok that's good, but pragmatically I am guessing USD Cash would be preferred instead of trusting the conversion back to their CAD Credit Cards. :)

  4. I think what you have in mind is a good plan. Once you have no further need to withdraw cash, then changing the account back to a credit card makes for more convenince.

What Clarea said is key - make sure you've finished your OBC first and keep in mind Casino allows max $500 withdrawals also, so you need to plan your week.

  5. We're cruising for the first time with RCCL in January. I've called twice in the past month putting about $450 on my account each time. I called tonight to add money one last time. Another $450. I was told that this would put me over my $1000 maximum allowed. If I want to add any more, I certainly can but must fax my ID even if only adding a couple of hundred dollars. I asked when this changed and he said "last week." Has anyone else run into this new policy?

Just call again and act dumb if they repeat the same :)

  6. After your cash account reaches $500 owing, they block your sea pass card so you can't make any more purchases until you make a payment on your account.

Can you make a 1-time payment with Credit Card while keeping it a Cash Account?

It just means many, many trips to Guest services.

  7. Worked fine on Liberty. Casino Cashiers knew that a Cash account == no fees. FYI - I also tried at Guest Services once and had no luck (they claimed it was a OBC Refund).

One question - what is preventing anyone (even normal USD paid accounts) from setting up a Cash Account, withdrawing say $3500 from Cashiers ($500 x 7 days) and then paying it off with Credit Card that gives Points/Miles? :p;)

  8. Yes, if both folios are linked, the the OBC will apply to charges in both folios.

What really happens is that if you are the primary guest and your wife's folio is linked to yours, then every charge your wife makes gets swept into your folio automatically. So all you will see in your wife's onboard account is a series of debits followed by immediate credits. Her folio will always have a zero balance.

Thanks! I remember seeing it, just couldn't remember if it was Royal :)

  9. I got 2 balconies for around &1000 after taxes but flying to TX is killing me $400. I think I will drop this reservation and keep the Allure as planned since it's almost the same price and Fort Lauderdale is less than 46 mins drive

Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app

Price out both IAH and HOU (closer to Galveston) airports. Big Airlines + SouthWest / AirTran / JetBlue / etc.. If you don't mind a drive, AUS is sometimes cheaper too.

  10. Hi, you mention a minimum of 4 hours, so that means if you go with the ship excursion, once they transport you there, the first option to go back is not until 4 hours later? That could be too long if there is no water sport activities on the beach. Is there shade? I wonder if you can book any alternative transportation from the Falmouth cruise port compound to take you there instead of going through the ship? Thanks.

They did announce they could find alternative transportation for those who couldn't last until 2:15. I think you would have a hard time telling a cab where to pick you up - the beach is off of some unmarked dirt road with lots of trees; it felt like we were driving into the forest.

There was lots of shade and you can ask the attendants to put your loungers wherever you like.

  11. Hi! We're leaving tomorrow, and are thinking about doing chukka beach. You say the buses back started at the 4 hour mark, so what time was that? What is the first excursion time? If you go on a later excursion, do you still have to stay at least 4 hours?

2:15pm is when the first bus was made available. Our excursion was officially listed as 8:30 start, but by the time we waited for everyone and the drive it was more like 9:00 - 9:30. ... so I guess that's more than 4 hours before first bus.

RCCL only lists 1 excursion time, but there were other ships in port hence what I meant by "first excursion time" -- make sure you beat those other ships in :-)
