What if I booked my flight with Virgin Atlantic and the flight is operated by Delta?  For our cruise in June, we booked via Virgin Atlantic, but the flight is operated by Delta flying from New York to Barcelona.

Glad to see that Virgin re-evaluated.  It also goes to show that there wasn't a legitimate reason to skip this port to cruisers who had already paid and were beyond the point of a refund.

To be fair...they never said there was a legitimate reason to act in bad faith. I look forward to my first VV cruise and potentially future cruises (their quick resolve outweighs the hasty boneheaded decision in my book..(I'm sure there's an intern to blame lol))

So in the end, there were some characters in this thread who showed their over-the-top loyalty in this litmus test sort of situation and I am glad to know who's advice to take with less than a grain of salt moving forward. Imagine the audacity of suggesting that if a cruise line turned their entire itinerary to sea days, we should be happy with it...because...we signed up for that possibility.

Cheers to everyone who is now getting what the product that was advertised, in good faith

Totally agree!!  If I had to hear about that stupid contract one more time.....  This was a very bad decision on Virgins part, and glad they realized their mistake.  This is one of the reasons I am not a cruiser!  But looking forward to my June 30th cruise!

There is no audacity on anyone's part. Itinerary changes are normal in cruising. It's in the contract. Those of us who have been cruising for 20 years know exactly how all of this works. Anyone who books through a travel agent knows that your itinerary is NEVER guaranteed on a cruise ship. If Toulon is the most important thing in the world to you, fly there. Don't take a cruise.

That holds true of any cruise destination on any cruise line from the cheapest to the most expensive luxury cruise. If your vacation is going to be RUINED because the ship won't stop at XYZ port, don't take a cruise. Fly there.

It's not audacious to understand itinerary changes. It's understanding the cruise contract and understanding that itineraries can and will be changed.

When a cruise ship markets a itinerary and then drops it 90 days prior, that is a bad decision on their part.  Hence, why did they re-instate it?   This was a business decision that went bad!  Apparently they read the concerns of their customerson here and most likely got their lines flooded with calls about cancellations.  I would get it if the destination was cancelled due to weather or unrest in that country.  But this was a bad call.  If they want to take Sailors advice, make that change on a new cruise. Not one that you have already started selling!!

  4. This is why I am not an avid Cruiser!!   My wife and I picked this cruise for its Itinerary.  The boat was our easy transportation to those destinations.  I get that a cruise ship can cancel a port due to weather or other mitigating circumstances, but 60 days ahead?  If it is an issue in France, then say it.  Don't use the comment of recent sailor feedback.  Why not just cruise the sea and not stop anywhere then??  False advertising.

    Signed, Pissed off Sailor!

  5. Just got the email today for the June 30th cruise.  I am a bit pissed about this.   My wife and I had just booked an excursion to St. Tropez!  We were both looking forward to that.  Had we known this prior, we would have not booked the cruise!  We loved the itinerary.   Spent even more money to fly to Barcelona.    Virgin should give us more than the port taxes back for this!  This is a huge disappointment!

  6. I can't believe that it took me this long to get them done, but...here they are! Hope you enjoy looking at them.

Wow those pictures were awesome!! That is some good underwater camera. What camera is that? Now I have the bug to get back to St. John. We are doing a cruise out of New Orleans this year to Cozumel, Belize, Roatan, and Costa Maya. Next year may be a house on St. John!!!

  7. I'll second the previous opinion (which was really well thought out and written, in my opinion).

If you're a laid back type person, then taking the time to go to St. John will likely be worth it to you. If you do go, make an effort to enjoy the whole thing - you know - make the journey, not just the destination, enjoyable.

If you or someone in your party are prone to being frustrated and impatient when things aren't moving at the speed that you think they should be, then it may not be for you.

Not everyone likes St. John (though few don't find it to be beautiful), and the pace and way things are done there isn't for everyone. The decision that my wife and I made to take a fellow passenger's advice to check out St. John has been a life changer for us. From the moment we stepped off of the ferry in Cruz Bay, we just felt a vibe that we both loved, and promised to come back for a longer stay.

It took about 10 years to fulfill that promise, with two or three cruise ship visits in the intervening years, but now we've made three trips to St. John, with two more booked for this year!

I agree. We took the trip to St. John and fell in love with that Island. Trunk Bay was amazing. So quiet and serene with some good snorkeling too. The trip to and from St.Thomas was a breeze also. We enjoyed the people on St. John. So many people that moved from the states live there now. I plan to make a trip just to St. John to spend a solid week soaking up what that Island has to offer. I think it worth the taxi/ferry rides!!!

  8. Hi everyone...has anyone used to NCL discount yet when not actually on NCL? Also what are thoughts on the middle package vs the royal swim? Middle package for 2 with 25% off is $50 less than royal swim, and I'm not sure if it's worth that to be able to have the pull and standing ride. (Royal swim also doesn't get the belly ride). So seems like it's just a net of 1 additional thing.

I booked the Royal Swim and I am on NCL Spirit. They asked me for my reservation number. They also mentioned we may need to show our Cruise card when checking in as well.

    Just an FYI.
