Nice shot of Mr. Rainier Dileep.
Here's a shot of one of the weird winter weather we have here. Wet snow and freezing rain in the morning, windy and beautiful clouds formation in the afternoon just in time for the sunset.
-
Went out yesterday afternoon to try my luck despite the crappy weather (freezing rain/wet snow). Saw some buffleheads and long-tailed ducks but they were too far away to get a decent shot. All I got are the tundra swans.

Nice pic Larry.
One thing to watch out if you did this with hdr/exposure blending is the introduction of halos. This usually occur where the dark and bright background meet as you can see in the trees and sky and along the horizon in your photo.
Cheers

Rav, Beautiful!!
It has been a wonderful winter so far hasn't it? We have had our first real snow just today and the lake is frozen just to the breakwater but I wouldn't risk walking on it!
Thank you. Normally, there should have been a slab of ice forming near the lake shore at this time of year. Grass is still green and winter will be over soon :)

My first sunrise photo for 2012. It's been a mild winter so far on our side. No frozen part of the lake can be seen.

Nice airshow pics MDSue. It's been 2 years since I've been to one. There's one coming this weekend in a neighboring city. Hopefully I can go there.

Zack! The NEX-5 is NOT micro 4/3!
It takes such fine pictures because it has an APS-C sensor that has 1.6x the area of a 4/3 sensor! Bigger sensor in a smaller camera...yay Sony!
Keep the fine images coming!
Dave
I noticed it too when Zack mentioned it but I was thinking maybe what he is using is a lens from a 4/3 system on a NEX body using an adapter. I have the same camera and it's an APS-C.

Beautiful shots of the bird. Is that a crane? Lucky to have been able to capture him with your lens like that. :)
Thanks Debathome. It's a great egret.

Just got lucky the other day. Found him in a small river looking for dinner. Unfortunately, he did not catch any fish during the time I was there. This is the first time I've got this bird really up close. Really close such that I have to move back amidst bushes and trees as he is filling up the full frame of my camera:)

We've done only 1 cruise so every pictures I took is best for me:D
Costa Maya
From the same beach above in Costa Maya
Port of Costa Maya. The panorama features of the Sony NEX really comes handy.
Radiance of the Seas behind the Seven Seas Navigator. Shot from Costa Maya port.

Excellent pics Zack with you Nex. Really like the waterfalls shots. I owned one as well and it's perfect for travel and hiking.
Wonderful zoo pics Sherilyn. It's with the user not the equipment. A good photographer can take a good photos with any camera. Cheers

Some photos of the Carnival Pride in Grand Turk:
Great composition and exposure perfect. Well done.

A few of mine taken on a very rainy day in Astoria last week. I have only a nice little point and shoot which suits me fine but I love all of the photos and effects that you guys achieve with your skill and camera.
Excellent pics Debathome. I like the B&W processing you did on all the pics and the 3rd is my favorite of the 3. Unless you are taking a fast action scenes, any point & shoot camera can rival images taken with a DSLR. It's all in the operator not the equipment.:)

My family went for a dinner last weekend at the 360 Restaurant located at the top of the CN Tower in downtown Toronto to celebrate my son's 1st communion. Everyone really enjoyed the food.
Oven Roasted Boneless Half Chicken "Piri Piri"
Pan Seared Fillet of Apple Wood Smoked Atlantic Salmon
Maple Walnut Roulade with Candied Walnut Meringue
After we came home, my wife and I are talking how we really missed to have a dinner like this every night on our 1st cruise last month aboard the Radiance of the Seas :).
Cheers,
Conrad

Great catch there MDSue. I'm still waiting for an opportunity to get a good photos of this bird. Cheers

Beautiful photo. Do you mind sharing your focal length and settings? Thanks!
Hi Cindy, I'm glad you like it. This was shot in aperture priority (AV) mode, f6.3. Used ISO400 and this gives me a shutter speed of 1/400s. I usually do not go below 1/800s speed to avoid any camera shake since I am using a 400mm f5.6 lens but I had a tripod with me at that time. Although not set-up, I just rested my palm on the ballhead for stability and took this shot.

Thanks Bruce. I was lucky he allowed me to get closer to take a good portrait of him.
I visited your gallery, awesome pics you have on those trip.

@taffy12: Congratulations on your new camera. You can find all the photography resources on the web but nothing beats by going out as often as you can and take photos. This is the best and fun way to learn.
Went out last night to take some sunset photos. Winter is almost over, the smell of spring is in the air.
Cheers,
Conrad
