There is a tour that takes people out from the port to the lighthouse and Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. It is the only way to get out to this steel lighthouse. Those of you that are lighthouse buffs, bring your lighthouse passport (or buy one there:)) and get an extremely rare stamp. You also see the original launch pads from the Mercury flights and the launch pad where they lost the crew of Apollo 1. Admission to the Expedition Tower and a space museum is included. The tour only goes out on Friday and Saturday morning and must be booked in advance because you need to be cleared to enter the base. Full disclosure, I do not work for the tour company, but have taken it. Since I am a local, I started to volunteer at the lighthouse after my tour. http://canaverallight.org/?page_id=858
She's right, it's a great tour. I'm also a volunteer out there and it's always fun chatting with the people who come on the tour. Book it online before your cruise and come see us after the cruise, or book it for the day before you board if you're coming in before your cruise. We'd love to see you!
Visit our website for info on the tour
Or visit the tour company site and then sign up at http://www.canaverallighthouse.com/store/p1/Lighthouse_Tour_ticket.html

The port area of Costa Maya is def. walkable- you will need to take a short cab ride to Mahuhual though as that is too far to walk in the heat! :)
Great, thanks. First time there and really looking forward to it.

I just posted about this super port in my blog- please check it out!
http://thecheerfulcruiser.blogspot.com/2016/06/cool-costa-maya-ideas-and-excursions.html
Thanks for all the info. How big a place is Costa Maya and Mahuhual? Is it walkable? We just want to poke around a little, but not stay in the port area itself. We'd love to see real life, not just tourist spots.

We did not have to arrange ahead of time, just followed the signs for the taxi stand and they were in the same area. You do have to cross the street to get there, once you reach where the parking garage is.

Thanks!!! I'm going to copy this for the people traveling with me. Sounds like a great option for us.

Ship to curb in 20 minutes, add in a little time waiting for the shuttle to fill up with people, and we were dropping people off at Newark airport by 11:15 give or take 5-10 minutes. Was $25/person for the shuttle. Follow the signs for the taxi stand, the shuttles leave from the same spot.
That's great to know, we plan to walk off too and are in no hurry since our flight is at 2:25pm. Did you have to arrange for the $25 shuttle beforehand, or just walk up to it and get on?

I'm new to MSC, and have an Aurea Suite booked on Seaside in Feb 2018. After reading some of the comments here, I have to ask - do the Aurea people have a separate pool? Or were you all just talking about the Yacht Club areas? Any info is appreciated since we've never sailed MSC and don't know the ins and outs of the suite levels.

Ship : Infinity
Cabin #: 8111
Deck #: 8
Class: Concierge C2
Area: Mid ship
Bed near: Bath
Quiet?: Yes
Balcony view: Good. Balcony is completely covered by the overhang of Deck 10.
Balcony size: standard
Wind: No
Soot: No
Cabin is in a very convenient location on Deck 8, near the glass elevators and aft stairs. When sitting on the balcony, we could faintly hear music from (I assume) the pool deck but it wasn't loud, just in the background and I enjoyed it. Just down the hall from the library which was nice, we always use the library.
Panama Canal cruise - balcony was nice for watching the progress as we went through the locks when we weren't up on deck.

We LOVED Mojo's, that Tiki Hut bar and wings place in this photo. They have the coolest swings at the bar, instead of stools. Thanks for the memory!

Here I'd one of my dads excuses.
"I like to be in control of my own holiday and not be told what to do"
Ummmm whom here has had the captain come to their cabin and tell them that they are to get their butts to line dancing in the atrium as they are 2 minutes late?
That really made me laugh! Most of my friends just say they don't want to be trapped on a ship. How can I convince them it's fun to be trapped??

Are you asking about Jersey Gardens Mall (http://m.simon.com/default.aspx?id=1374) or the outlets in Secaucus? For Jersey Gardens Mall you want to stay on Glimcher Realty Way at Country Inns, Elizabeth Courtyard, Embassy Suites, or Residence Inn. All these hotels have an airport shuttle. Secaucus is another story and requires a taxi or car service. http://www.secaucus.org/shopping.html
I remember the Glimcher Realty name from someone else's post somewhere in CC so Jersey Gardens must be the one. Good that they all have shuttles. Thanks.

Sailing on Anthem May 2016, flying into Newark 5/13. Three of us are looking for a hotel very close to the Outlet Mall so we can shop that afternoon. Would be nice if they had a shuttle pickup at EWR. Any suggestions?

I only saw a few of the silver/white fish. But the water was a godsend!
What a great shot! You are very clever with all of your selfies.

Gorgeous ship. I wonder why they docked it on the cruise ship side? I've never seen yachts on that side, they're always over on the other side. But you got a great view of her since she was docked on the inside.

Then we decided to head to the aft pool for some water fun. How ironic, as kids we were always getting yelled at for going in the water too soon after eating. If I recall correctly, it was said that you could get cramps and drown from it. I could never verify such a thing, all I know is that now as an adult, not I only jump in the water immediately after eating, but I also eat in the water. Yet I am still here :D.
This is what I love about your reviews, the funny little personal things you add to the conversation. It's not just "here is the pool, here is the dining room", it's more like you are chatting with us as you go along. Very entertaining.

Love the reflection on that picture! LOVE MY GOPRO! Keep in mind the colors are manipulated a little. I more than happy to share my Lightroom presets for those interested
I love that picture too, with the reflection. Great shot of all the happy cruisers and the Miami skyline all in one! Having fun following along.

We have just finished a cruise in 8111 on Infinity which I think is next door. You could hear them but we didn't have any problems.
This might be too late for a response but Johan, if you see this, I'd love to know how Cabin 8111 on Infinity was, did you have an obstructed view?

I'll be on board in September I was just on board in May and the cd was Esperanza and the captains club host was Alexandra th.eyll be there in September but I'll ask them.

When are you boarding the Infinity?
November 20th for the eastbound Panama Canal cruise

Didn't see any Infinity info although I only searched a few pages back. Is there a page number or post number where Infinity info could be found? First time on Celebrity, was curious about the staff and officers.

St. Kitts has many beautiful churches
Did you get to go inside? We happened upon one of the teachers from the school and she let us in and told us about the church. It's gorgeous inside.

Good morning friends and welcome to day nine of LIVE from Quantum of the Seas! We are about two and a half hours away from docking at St. Kitts and I have a tour arranged through Thenford Grey Tours today with friends joining me.
Have a fun day! I was in St. Kitts for 6 days a few years ago when my niece was in school there, stayed at the Marriott resort - gorgeous. Had a great time zip lining, going to various beaches and restaurants, really got a good feeling for that island. Hope you see wonderful sights today.

Sadly, Celebrity did away with the brunch. I believe they thought too much food went to waist, which it probably did.
hahahaha go to waist ... it not only goes to waste, but to your waist, and hips, and in my case my big oil' butt. Thanks for the smile.

Port Canaveral restaurant question -
in Florida Departures
Posted
They all have a view of the ships although Grills and Fishlips have the best in my opinion. Millikins also has a view but they are closest to where most ships dock on the western end so you don't see the whole sailaway like you would at Fishlips (if their upstairs deck is repaired, then upstairs at Fishlips is best - they had hurricane damage last year).
I live near the Port and have watched quite a few sailaways from Fishlips which I think is the preferred restaurant of most cruisers and locals because of the upstairs view. Grills is a close second. You are so close to the Oasis at Grills that you can watch them push off from Terminal 1 before they leave and wave to whoever is at the back of the ship. We waved to a ton of Grills folks when we left on our November cruise on Oasis.
