I'm sorry to hear about your parents, but cruises for most people are expensive and most only do them once a year, sometimes once every two years. Just because people are asking doesn't mean they don't care.
I think that was in reply to my deleted post. Thank you - I wasn't saying that people don't care about those affected. Just trying to stress that no one here knows what is going to happen.

For the life of me I can't figure out why people post these. Do you hit up your facebook feed everytime an ambulance goes by?
For what it's worth, today I saw two. Code 3 both times, and yesterday I saw the medievac 'copter going over the city. He was flying fast and low, friends tell me that means a kid with serious injuries otherwise they don't do that.
And one time at band camp.........
Code Alpha! Over & Out!
Amen!! It is no ones business but the people involved!

Are you going to change your trip now? ;) You'll find out tomorrow!! Be excited for the surprise!

Can they worry about the ships/crew/passengers that they currently have on board before they have to deal with next week and the aftermath? All of these complaints about cancelling a cruise when people are dead and lives are completely uprooted.
Make a decision for yourself that is best for you and your safety. Don't wait for a corporation to do it. Some are already calling them greedy and self-serving - then why would you wait for them to make a decision?I If you booked a cruise in hurricane season you have to be ready to change plans. Put on your big girl pants and figure out what you need to do.
Posts have been removed from this thread and those were the ones to which my post was directed.

So right.
Better get me an unlisted USERID.
Personally, I have yet to figure out how people have a clue on what and where they want to eat 6 months from now. LOL!
(nobody in my house knows what they want TONIGHT)
Amen!! I just went on Breakaway - 8/20 - full sailing. We had 3 cabins with 5 people all platinum & all with SDP with no reservations booked before sailing. Our thinking is who knows what we want that day - we are on vacation & don't have to cook! Onboard on the app we booked Le Bistro for first night & Ocean Blue for 3rd night. Day 2 we decided on La Cucina. We hit La Cucina on another night as well. Table for 5 reserved that day.

If anyone has cooked in the kitchen of their own home, they know sometimes things change. In the case of a cruiseline, the decision is impacted by how much they have onboard at any given time. They have to serve a thousand plus meals.....
Oh absolutely. I was just trying to show that there could be differences. You know someone will come back here & say "GaryCarla told me they were serving XYZ on Day 2 so I booked my specialties around it and then they changed it!" ;)

I see this thread is a year old but wanted to add that on the Breakaway recently my mother was provided an extension cord for her cpap. She was in a Spa Mini - no outlets by the bed.
-
I believe OP means the 50% deal for those whose cruises were cancelled. You should read the terms but it is most likely 50% of what you paid - not 50% off any cruise.
-
The Day 6 menu GaryCarla posted was used on Day 5 of the August 20 Breakaway sailing.
By the way, the Dover Sole in Le Bistro was the best thing I ate all week.

Funny(odd) I just called a PCC at NCL to check the price.
We will be on the Bliss next April.
She said since the Bliss is a new ship, they have not yet set the prices.
She also said, I would not be able to book the Spa until 90 days prior to the cruise.:)
However, she said based on the Breakaway, it usually comes out
to about $25.00 a day per person.
How much per-day did it cost you?
Breakaway Spa pass was $199 to prebook for last week's sailing. Onboard price was higher.

Every sailing will be different as people said.
Last year I was on the Breakaway and travelled solo. I met some awesome people! The age range was from like 25 to 75. I think there were only 2 or 3 dinners where the entire group went together to Savor or Taste or The Manhattan Room. But smaller groups would dine together the other nights. We got together for shows and evening activities. People went into port together. Really great time. At the very first group meeting, the group coordinator had sign up sheets for various activities. We didn't do any specialty restaurants as a group.
Just off the Breakaway and stayed in a studio. I did not participate in any of the solo meetings or events as I was traveling with family. In my cabin on arrival there was a sort of checklist of various activities for each day of the cruise. (Sorry I didn't bring it home or take a picture.) I think it was to see how many people were interested in each thing so they could reserve for the week.

I always give the same advice. Before you bid, ask your TA how much it would be if you wanted to pay to upgrade and pick your cabin. See what that price is in relation to the minimum bid per person (and where you just get assigned a cabin).
If you are interested in getting a spa pass it would be another $200 per person so consider that in the price per person difference to just upgrade to a spa balcony - port side spa balconies have cabins above and below.
-
Not only that, but since they are past final payment they will likely experience some sort of cancellation fee on one of the staterooms.
I've read accounts of people being able to combine reservations after final payment without penalty. NCL will take some extra money to put the 2 balconies into 1 suite and then they can sell the 2 balconies - or upsell/up-bid people in insides to balconies and sell the insides. The more people they get on the ship, the more money they make.
-
What is the minimum bid? I'm just curious.
-
The difference is a lot between two balcony cabins and one SJ for four. More than $3,000. Even with the promo.
Not sure what you are looking at but the price for 2 BDs is $4,116 and 2 B3s is $4,796. And the price for an SJ for 4 is $5304. That's $500 between B3 & SJ & $1200 between BD & SJ. Of course the real difference would be based on what the OP paid for their cabins but they did mention picking promos so I'm assuming they didn't pay the guarantee rate.
-
I don't know how much you are willing to bid but why not just call and see what the price difference would be to change? Are you booked under the free taxes promo that is happening right now?
-
I think the rule on most Haven suites is that the bed cannot be separated. If you look at any videos they show a king size bad and those usually cannot be separated.

I may be wrong but I think it looks like this based on a 7day sailing:
Option 1 - Keep reservation as is, add 3 night SDP for sister and have her pay for drinks as you go = $81.42 more ($69 SDP + 18%)
Option 2 - Switch Sis & a parent on reservation to make Sis Passenger #1 & parent Passenger #3, pick perks as UBP & SDP & buy an extra SDP: Pay 18% on UBP for 2 ($99.54x2) + extra SDP ($81.42) = $280.50
Option 3 - Move Sis & kids to 1 room & move parents to 3rd&4th in other room: Pay 18% on 1 UBP ($99.54) + 18% on Child soda package ($6.93) + $81.42 each for 2 SDPs for mom & dad = $269.31
If you think Sis will drink more than $200 worth in 7 days, I'd go with Option 2 - Mom & Dad don't drink soda or alcohol. If one would order a juice or a virgin pina colada or daiquiri, you make that person the 2nd passenger.

I've had PCCs get annoyed with me when I booked through the site instead of through them. I explained that "my" PCC has changed so many times over the years and I simply cannot be bothered to keep track. I am happy to do it all myself. Sadly, a few things cannot be done through the website (changes, cancels) so when that happens, I'm forced to call. I even try just handling whatever through whoever answers the phone, but they insist I talk to "my" PCC.
It's all very silly. PCCs can't do anything for me. The days of a PCC looking out for you in terms of upgrades and price drops are long, long gone. Everyone at NCL is there to maximize revenue and handing out discounts when nobody is asking is not in alignment with that. Even posts here about "my fabulous PCC" are starting to be fewer and farther between.
I book on my own or through CAS so never use a PCC. Awhile back I told them I did not want a PCC assigned to me and now I just call and speak to whoever answers the phone.
-
Almost another year later and it help us. please stop the snark!
What you are calling "snark" was my trying to be helpful to those who were potentially reading outdated information or wasting their time answering a question from someone who had long since moved on.
-
He didn't help with the booking at first but he did extend the hold for my cousin for a day and he is looking for upgrades for us (thought I don't think he'll find any but we can hope)
So no, he didn't do much but someone has to get the credit for the booking so I don't mind it being him. He's a nice guy who has helped me a lot in the past and if this makes him look out for me in the future, I'm cool with that.
Then absolutely! :)
-
Sorry but why should your PCC get credit for a booking they didn't make? It would be a different story if you called him and got info and pricing on the cruise before booking and maybe you left that part out but for him to call you if he didn't help with the booking in any way is pushy.
