  1. I've done an Internet class on board before. I had a paper and a discussion board due that week. I used the Internet cafe to post both. I did all my research for my paper before I left and used word to draft the paper aboard. I had no problems logging on and posting multiple times.

  2. Your letter is well written and I respect your opinion. However, I don't understand it. Table cloths and self serve water aren't a big deal. My service is always impeccable and my food is almost always scrumptious. Missing a table cloth or pouring my own water doesn't spark anything in me that I would want to write a thesis size letter about it. Not trying to flame. I just can't relate putting so much thought, time, and effort into something that seems trivial to me.

  3. Hello all,

We were planning to do a quick 4 day out of Miami in July. There will be 5 travelling in 2 rooms. I've got a casino offer on the table which saves us about 50pp for the first two of us and offers some casino cash (not sure how much, will call on that tomorrow). Not a huge deal, but better than ES.

Our first room would be casino offer and our second Early Saver. The only other casino offer I've booked was a turn-around offer and didn't qualify for ES anyway.

It looks like the ship is far from full. Has anyone booked a non-ES and regretted it due to a huge price drop?

    Thanks in advance,

    Ashley

  4. We did the Legend's Glacier Bay itinerary in September. It was spectacular.

We stayed at the Sleep Inn by the airport. The shuttle was easy to use and free. They'll take you anywhere within a few miles including the light rail which is super easy to use.

Layers, lots of layers. I didn't overpack and I did a load of laundry mid-trip. It was well worth it. A waterproof jacket is a must. Columbia makes a nice shell to go over all those layers. We just packed a pair of slacks and a couple of nice shirts for elegant night. We didn't look out of place.

Not sure of your itinerary, but the best excursions for us were whale watching in Alaska and the Tongass rainforest in Ketchikan. The whale watching is pretty friendly to those who are mobility-limited but the rainforest would probably be a challenge.

    You'll have a great time!!

  5. If you had a choice, would you rather do a) whale watching tour and Menenhall Glacier ($179) or b) Tracy Arm fjord and glacier exploration ($189)... decsriptions below:

    a)

Stop at the recently renovated Glacier Center to visit with Forest Service interpreters.

Stroll the glacier-view path or take a short walk to watch salmon spawning in a nearby stream.

Take a scenic drive through the Mendenhall Valley, past Auke Lake to board a water jet-powered catamaran specially designed for wildlife viewing.

Relax in the warm, comfortable, spacious main cabin, surrounded by large windows as your captain guides you through Stephen's Passage.

Listen as the on board naturalist explains the behavior and habitat of wildlife you may encounter.

Look for humpback and killer whales, sea lions, porpoises, harbor seals, bald eagles, and Sitka black-tailed deer.

    b)

On this exclusive seasonal excursion you will:

    • Board a deluxe, waterjet-powered catamaran that has pulls alongside the Carnival Legend in the waters of Tracy Arm.
    • Discover many wonders around each bend of this serpentine, 30-mile fjord.
    • Listen to the onboard Naturalist who will inform you about the area.
    • Trace the bases of cliffs that rise 4000-feet above the jade-colored sea.
    • Enjoy an up close view of Sawyer Glacier, with frequent stops to view wildlife.
    • Hear the “white thunder” as immense spires of ice break from the Sawyer Glaciers and crash into the sea.

  6. Hello!! We are headed to Alaska in about a month. Budget-wise, we are looking for only one of the pricier excursions. The two we are looking at are both through Carnival. Would you recommend Tracy Arm or Mendenhall?

  7. Hi Mumtopugs - Is that Galveston Limousine Services you used. I just got a great quote from them for a party of 20 going from the port to IAH, but I've been reading the bad reviews too and was a little concerned.

Yep, that's them. I had a little mix up with my credit card but they resolved it quickly. I would use them again in the future

  8. Hello!

I am booked to Alaska in September. I paid more for this cruise than I have any other, so I'm hoping to snag a casino offer or even a price drop. Optimistic? Probably. However, my question is: Do prices change within the day or just from one day to the next?

    Thanks in advance!

  9. Hello! Our cruise to Alaska is in August. We are looking for any recommendations on excursions. Specifically, which port should we try whale watching? Also, the cruise is for my sister's 50th birthday and she's very interested in anything to do with ghosts. Anyone have a good ghost tour story? Our ports are Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan, Victoria BC. Thanks in advance :)

  10. Thanks!! I'm getting more excited reading these posts.

I will def be doing some cool excursions!

I looked around at prices and everyone was kind of the same. Then I asked for time off from work. By the time they got back to me, the price had gone up. I have an exact set of days I can sail. Couldn't really have worked it any other way but this cruise :/ I am already asking off for my cruise next year so this doesn't happen. Lol
