  1. Hello. On embarkation day the cruise departs at 7 pm. I would like to explore the port city without dragging around my luggage. What is the earliest I can check in? Can I leave my luggage at the pier and go back to check in later? Can I check in early in the day, handing over my luggage, and then get back off the ship and explore for a couple of hours?  FYI…the ship arrives in port at 6 am.  Thank you.

  2. During my visit to Italy (pre-cruise) I will be purchasing two bottles of a specific liquor to bring home as gifts. I have no problem having them stored for me during the cruise. My flight time home on the last day is pretty tight. Does anyone know when/what time I can pick up my bottles or are they delivered to my cabin? I need to have them packed up and ready to depart asap.

We also chose Albergo Santa Chiara as our hotel based on ratings, reviews and location. We plan to walk to everything except our early morning Vatican tour. We love history and ruins so we will walk to the Colosseum, Roman Forum and a few other places on the way. We plan to go to Trevi Fountain the morning of our cruise very early in the morning. We have a golf cart tour (office is 2 min. walk) to see Appian Way and catacombs. We will go to Piazza Navonna if all the construction and plywood is done by the end of September. We will go to a couple churches to see sculptures by Bernini and Michelangelo. We will also spend a day to take the fast train to Venice.

Hi…if you haven’t booked your train ticket yet, you may want to check out flights. We usually take the train between the two because we stop in Florence for a few days, but this time we found a cheap flight that works and it’s only an hour.

Lol I'm cruising and ending in rome. Idk about carnival but I booked more than 11 months out. Cant book flight thru the cruiseline or in general until about 11 months out.

I just finally booked a flight home just yesterday. About fell over what rcl wanted, and turns out if you dont book to one of the five usa hub cities prices are crazy. I finally decided to fly non refundable air Europa into miami. It's the one thing I booked nonrefundable. I'm going to stay a extra 4 nights and do some sight seeing. Excursions in rome have also been a eye opener. I'm paying for lite, only a carry on. I could upgrade and check a bag, about $54 more. I did pay $25 to choose aisle seats. Changing planes in madrid. The day I get in royal wanted $1090 to fly me home. Sticking around their cheapest fare to orlando was $1510 and no way I was paying over $1500 for a flight.

If you book ahead you cant book flights or have any idea how much they will be until approx 11 months before. I'm flying back memorial weekend here and a jubilee weekend in rome. Who knew? I was told expect about $800ish.. $1510 ..sorry omg. No.

I’ve been to Rome a number of times and never have done an excursion. Everything is really easy to get to if you stay down by the Piazza Navona area. You can walk to most things. Have a great time!

  5. Hi…our ship arrives back into port at Civitivecchia at 6 am. We are in the process of booking flights home. What is the earliest we can get off the ship? We were looking for a return flight at 2 pm and wondering if we are cutting it too closely.

  6. Are getting your guaranteed room assignment and winning a bid a two step process? Ie. you receive your room and then a different room populates on the app if your bid is successful

  7. Hi…I have a guarantee room booked, and have also placed a bid on a higher cabin. What is the most likely process for getting our room…ie…do they give the guarantee first, and then sometime closer to sailing they decide whether or not to accept my bid for the upgrade…so two parts? Also, has anyone bid on a room category and been given a higher category? I guess same question with the guarantee.

  9. Hi…we ended up having to cancel and rebook. When I go to the medallion app, it doesn’t show my new booking number. When I try to link it, it says the new one is already taken. I can see the old booking cancelled on the app. I did go online and rebook excursions and such, so it’s only the app giving grief. Any hints on how to fix this? Does it take a few days to catch up to the website?
