  1. Btw if your cruise is in the late summer next year then the new Pier E at the airport has opened.

It is designed to take care of long haul flights, so it will take some pressure of Pier C (and some D gates) where all non Schengen flights takes off today.

I don't know if it's only long haul flights that will take off from pier E or if some of the routes to Great Britain will take off from here as well.

Btw I should add that if your flight to London is with Easyjet or Ryan Air it will be from the low cost terminal (CPH Go/F gates)

SAS, British Airways and Norwegian uses Pier C and those D gates that are located after immigration.

Great info Danish Viking. We are flying SAS late next month.

  2. I just got off the cruise shuttle 100 Danish Kroner, 15 euros or $18. I couldn’t believe there were only 8 people on the 800 Bus. I think they run at 730, 800, 830 and 900, there may also be more. 40 minutes and at the airport. Cash and credit cards accepted. 1/2 of cost of Princess transfer. The only downside is you have to find your luggage and take it to bus about 20 meters, they were just outside door. I think they also offer a transfer into town, hold luggage and transfer to airport later in the day. Highly recommend

Thanks. That's what we will be doing too.

Did it take long to check in and then go through immigration/customs at the airport?

We will be flying to Heathrow.

  3. Besides the obvious bigger size, we have two chairs and a small table on the balcony, two TVs, fridge, tub, safe, bathrobes, sofa bed, welcome champagne and hairdryer.

It makes sense for us since we r traveling with kids. :)

Thanks. Extra space and larger lounge are always a great thing and champagne!

  4. Miami,

Took your advice and looked into booking the Les Suites Orient and found out hey were totally booked for the entire month of February, 2019.

Looks like a very nice hotel.

    Thanks:)

We stayed at Les Suites Orient 6 years ago. Fabulous hotel in a perfect location on the Bund esp in a room that overlooks the river

  5. Thought I would take advantage of you seasoned cruisers. I was wondering how far in advance you have booked your air fares for domestic flights. Traveling from the Gold Coast to Sydney in the past, I have always booked about 6 / 7 months in advance, mainly because after the excitement of booking on a cruise I feel the need to be getting things organised. This is probably not the best way to get best prices for airfares, so all thoughts on this subject would be much appreciated. :D
If you like to travel on Virgin, keep an eye on their happy hour sale 4pm to 11pm AEDT every Thursday. And Jetstar have a sale on Fridays too. It's never too early to book if you come across a bargain.

  6. We did a small group tour with Zoom a few years ago and organised not to do the laquerware and silk factory. It was still a comprehensive tour and we were happy to have extra time at the War Remnants museum.

  7. As has been said, MyKi does not work outside Victoria.

However, if you have a Victorian Seniors Card (or any other state), you can apply for a temporary Opal card. This gives the concession rates on all Sydney transports. Capped at $2.50 per day.

    https://www.opal.com.au/en/about-opal/opal_for_interstate_seniors/

$2.50 concession fare does not apply to the airport stations. The fare is less than $18.50 though.

  8. The airport link trains are just the normal trains that happen to go thru the Domestic and International stations and the $18 50 includes the entrance to the airport.

From Circular Quay station, it is an easy 5 minute stroll to the Overseas Passenger Terminal.

After arriving by plane follow the signs to the trains. There is a ticket booth to purchase an Opal card just before you enter the station platforms. There is a choice of lifts, escalators and stairs to get from the airport terminal to the platform.

  9. We used a guide about 5 years ago and would recommend him but not sure whether he is still doing it. He was very knowledgeable esp on history and spoke English very well. If I could private message you somehow I could give you his email address...

  10. We've generally found with Optus that you don't get reception for calls and/or internet on a coastal cruise unless very close to the coast near a coastal town/ city. Best advice to avoid a large internet bill is to turn your mobile data off and buy an internet plan and use facebook messenger or similar
