  1. Getting back to the original question from the OP.............

Britannia - 26 March @ Southampton Ocean Terminal.

Allocated boarding time - 1530 (C deck cabin).

Arrived at terminal - 1230 (no choice - at mercy of parents who gave us a lift down).

Given red embarkation card - I summise that this is for early arrivals and they will get to you as and when.

    Called for embarkation at 1430.

I make no comment for or against the system. This is the information OP asked for !!!

  2. That was the last time I went on her - July 4th to the Norwegian Fjords for 7 blissful nights !

I'll be honest.....I've since been exclusively on P&O but have now been tempted back to try a 14 night Norwegian Fjords and North Cape cruise in August 2017.

So, in that time, what can I expect to have changed, both Princess in general and the ship itself ? The good, the bad and the ugly please. If it makes any difference, I'm now a Platinum Princess cruiser.

    Many thanks in advance.

  3. P&O seem to ignore the impact of their decisions on their customers. Most of us would not find this a particular problem because we know that P&O's IT is pretty poor so we know to call P&O when we can't get the booking system to give us what we want but potentially new business could be impacted because if a new passenger to P&O may accept that none of the cabins that that they were interested in were unavailable and would go to another line to look for a cruise.

I could not agree more with you there Josy. Thanks to all on this issue - I'm not alone it would seem. I feel a phone call coming on but, oh, the business P&0 potentially loses from this system defect !

  4. Hi all,

Over the past 24 hours, at several different times, I have had the following problem while trying to book an Azura May 2017 departure on the P&O U.K. website :

I try to book the Select price, pick my grade of balcony cabin then get to the pick cabin number section. The site offers several cabins or I enter a cabin to pick another of my choosing. The problem is that every single cabin number for HD grade balcony returns back as 'Does Not Exist' - I have tried tens of cabins all with the same response. Surely they can't be booked up this early so why this response ? It will accept the choice if I pick the options that P&O recommend but, in my opinion, these are frequently in poor positions on board so I always pick one of my choosing.

First time with this issue and I'm stumped. I've tried countless cabins in multiple grades, other dates in May just in case cruise A712 was the problem, even tried in Internet Explorer in case Google Chrome was the issue - all to the same result.

Anyone else had the issue or am I to resort to phoning reservations instead, on a premium number ?

  5. Most, but not the 4 most forward, inside cabins on Lido Deck are directly underneath the tiled kitchens for the The Plaza buffet on the deck above - be prepared for noise at various times of the day from early morning to late in the evening - of course noise is subjective and what annoys one may be perfectly acceptable to another. On the plus side, all the inside cabins are but a 'hop, skip and jump' to the pool areas/bars amidships.

As an aside, all the balcony cabins on L deck are directly underneath the carpeted areas of the passenger area of the Plaza buffet and pose no noise problems in my humble opinion.

  6. Any craft that relies on a screw (traditional propeller or Azipod) will 'cavitate' the faster it rotates - some vessels more than others due to screw/hull design. Cavitation is the effect of creating bubbles in the propelled water where the screws are. The feeling is akin to being in a spa with bubbles all round your body ! It's generally more noticeable in calmer conditions - the choppier the sea surface, the more this condition is masked, to people onboard, by general pitch/yaw of the vessel.

  7. I have to admit -- I am really confused about this!! I am sure we will close the curtains completely anyway, because I actually have a preference for an Inside cabin over Oceanview due to the light coming in (I rise with the sun, so the chances of me sleeping in during a cruise are greatly increased if we are in an Inside, but this cabin is too fabulous to worry about that!). Anyway -- my confusion is, how does the light affect their view?? The bridge appears to be a smidgen above it and set back a tiny bit, but ... seriously?? Surely they KNOW that the front of the ship is a lot further forward than a tiny sliver of light coming from DIRECTLY BELOW...? Hahahaha. That could be very very interesting.

Thanks again for all of the positive comments everyone, we are just SO excited. What a fantastic find! There's still a few other Family rooms available on my cruise, I wonder if anyone will snag them from the forums! Not as fabulous as ours but even a standard one is a steal for all the extra cabin space!

In very dark places, as it always is at night in open water, the human eye will gain a small degree of night vision. Even small amounts of light will ruin that night vision and make it much harder to scan the waters by naked eye.

  8. I'm booked on AOTS for May 2014 out of Southampton - the first time on RCI, let alone this ship. As the search feature is currently AWOL, you fine people may be able to answer the following :

    1. What is, generally, the earliest time I can embark at the City terminal ? Can it be a time of my choosing or am I limited to a time that RCI specify ?

    2. I have a D2 grade (superior balcony) stateroom booked. Does it have a fridge/cooler ?

    3. What toiletries are supplied/replenished ?

    4. I have $200 stateroom OBC. Can this be used to offset/pay for the gratuities, or is just limited to other onboard revenue streams ?

    5. If I remember correctly that I read this somewhere - is the Windjammer open for dinner on the final evening or not ?

    6. Is there a section of the Windjammer that gets partitioned off in the evening for a casual dress waiter-served menu, or is it all continually self-serve buffet ?

    7. Roughly what time do you get "chucked off" if you choose to self-help disembark ?

Many, many thanks in advance for any, and all, helpful replies.:D
