Here is the gift bag. It also had a water bottle and apple I had to throw away at airport security.

We took our own shuttle to the Fort Lauderdale airport so I can't comment on the free shuttles.

Disembarkation was a disaster. They gave us stickers and we were supposed to be the 3rd group to get off and they held us in the theater. After a couple hours and they started the process. 45 minutes later our number had not been called so we went back up to deck 4 and they were just letting anyone and everyone off. Very poor communication and organization but we made our flight so I am happy!

CBP was super fast- the line kept moving and only took about 10 minutes from walking off the ship to walking out of the terminal.

  2. They announced last night the entire ship is clearing customs/immigration in Miami. We look to be about an hour away now according to the maps on the stateroom tv. Those disembarking will clear off the ship. Those continuing on back to Galveston will clear onboard and get a wrist band. Once they have 100% clearance they will let people off. They have a complimentary bus running to go to a nearby mall (can't remember the name) and said all aboard will be around midnight Miami time.

They are having 2 comedians and 2 headliners come on in miami for new shows. They did In the Air again last night. We are receiving new cruise compasses each day since the extended part of our cruise. The staff on board is really doing a good job with what they have been given.

My group of 6 is getting off today and flying home to PHX. I will try to update again once we make port.

  3. As for the medical emergencies I am not sure if the Coastguard came. I never saw a boat or helicopter but could only see off the balcony on the starboard side. We waited for close to 2 hours then the captain came on and announced that the medical emergencies had been stabilized and that we would be underway. We left shortly after that.

About 10:30 this evening the cruise director made an announcement that drinks, drink packages, internet and specialty restaurant packages were 50% off. Our internet had stopped working but about the same time as the announcement, a card came under our door stating that our internet package would be extended for the duration of our stay with a new code given.

The cruise director also said we could disembark in Miami and that RCCL would be providing complimentary shuttles to both MIA and FLL. But he strongly urged all to stay on board and go back with them to Galveston as flights in the Florida area are limited. I booked flights home right after the captain announced that we were going to Miami so as long as we get there in time on Tuesday I hope to catch a plane home.

The ship is really rocking right now and the wind is howling at the balcony door. Hoping for a smoother ride tomorrow. But the upside of getting woken up by the wind is everyone else is off the wifi and it works again.

  4. They made an announcement earlier today about the cost per day of the various drink packages if you would like to sign up for them for the remainder of the cruise. Perhaps people complained and they are just continuing those that have the packages and not charging. I don't drink so I don't know. As for the question about the kids club it is opened. They have activities scheduled through the rest of the day. The pool and slides are open. I have a wifi package that I purchased prior to the cruise and it is still working but is really slow. We have had great internet on the ship until today- I think everyone is on it changing flights and talking to loved ones at home.

  5. The MDR and Windjammer close for breakfast depending on if it is a port or sea day so best to check your cruise compass. From memory the MDR was closed for breakfast at 9/9:30 and windjammer was 10:30/11 depending on port/sea days.

We found the rooms temperature to be nice and cool. The a/c worked well.

We thought the mattresses were very firm. I brought 2 inexpensive eggcrate mattress pads that rolled up small and packed easily in my suitcase and put them on the bed and it made the bed much better for us. Our room steward noticed and said he was glad we brought our own because there are not any egg-crate mattress pads on the Harmony to put on guests beds (as many have already reported). So bring your own if you don't sleep well on a very firm mattress.

  6. We just got off of Harmony yesterday and stayed in boardwalk balcony 10319. It was so loud!! I expected a little noise from the boardwalk but didn't expect to still hear noise even with ear plugs. I had them come fix my door 2 times because it sounded like the door was open. There was definitely a problem with the seal on the slider door. After the last fix it was much more quiet but still quite loud during the aqua shows, the dance party and when they had movies. From midnight until about 8am it was quiet. I was happy we didn't have my kids this trip because I am not sure they would have gotten much sleep. The room was beautiful and spacious- loved the layout. We could see quite a bit of the aqua theater but the slide blocked off the movie screen. We could see the ocean really well. But due to noise I won't ever book a boardwalk balcony again. Fun location but for us too noisy.

  7. i just got off of Indy yesterday and the internet was $25 a day if you bought the 3 day package and $40 for one 24 hour package. It was not Voom. I was really surprised at how expensive it was, especially with the current advertising of Voom which is cheaper! I remember reading a post where someone said they tried to buy the internet online for Indy for our 3 day cruise and the total came to $75 and no one could make sense of it. Well after getting on the ship it made sense. No idea why their slow internet had different pricing then the other ships.

  8. We were on the Star princess in November and it was great- very relaxing. We find the food good, the pizza is our favorite of the cruise lines, and it has a slower paced vibe than Royal. The international cafe is great and quite similar to the cafe promenade. On the Star we were in a balcony on deck 14 and the rooms are small- only room for the bed and a small chair but all of their closets are fantastic- almost walk in size. We took the Crown Princess on a quick 3 night in January and were in a balcony on deck 10 (caribe) and while the room was the same size the balcony was big. Twice the size with half covered and the other half open. The Magic to Do show on the Crown was very entertaining- best cruise entertainment show I have seen in quite a while. We stayed in a mini suite a couple years ago on the golden and found the room to be similar to Royal's junior suites. I would agree that Royal and Princess are more similar than not and wouldn't hesitate to sail either.

  9. We just got of the Star this morning and were beyond lucky to made our early flight out of LAX. We were in the walk off group #3. We met in the Vista Lounge and were supposed to start disembarking at 8:05 but it was closer to 8:15 when we got off the ship. We stood outside waiting for customs in a long line that didn't move. Finally they separated all the US passport holders to the right and people with passports from other countries on the left. They handed out additional paperwork for those in the non-US citizens line to fill out and those poor people stood in a line that did not move. Our line (US passports) moved very slowly but it did move. Many people in both lines were very upset and yelling at the poor Princess reps. My husband and I got to a customs agent and handed him our passports and declaration card and he looked at them, punched something onto his keyboard, looked at our passports again and then said "have a nice day." We quickly walked out to the taxi stand and were on our way to LAX at 9:35am. LAX was of course a zoo with security and we made it to our gate right when boarding started for our 10:50 flight. And yes I know that a 10:50 flight is a major gamble (at LAX no less) but was willing to re-book on a later flight if we missed the 10:50. I had some Southwest flight points to burn so to speak so it was definitely no loss on our end to try for the early flight. I feel terrible for the other passengers that spent all day waiting to get through customs. Not a fun way to end a nice relaxing cruise. Here's to hoping those that missed flights are able to quickly find alternative flights.
