  1. Ship: Majestic Princess Class: Royal Deck: Riviera, Deck 14 Stateroom: #R537 Category: Balcony Port/Starboard/Bow/Stern: Port Connects With Cabin #: N/A Accessible: No Quiet: Yes Balcony Size: Standard View: Unobstructed. Privacy Issues: None Wind: N/A Soot: N/A Problems: Could see a dip in one of the twin bed mattresses, but the bed slept fine. The room was always cooler than the outside hallway even when the thermostat was turned all the way up. I had warm clothes for Alaska, so it was not an issue for me. Comments: You could sometimes feel the ship moving and sometimes the bed's headboard vibrated at night.
  2. Thank you RKA Cruiser! I'm just beside myself about this and your answer means a lot to me.
  3. I booked my Alaska trip late and then messed around and put off making my whale watching excursion! Which is really the whole reason I'm going to Alaska!. The only time I could get is a 3:40PM departure w/a return time at 7:30. My ship departs Juneau at 9:00PM. Do you think this is plausible. It is with Jayleen's Alaska tours. Can I get dropped off and make it back on the boat for a 9:00PM departure? I've never cruised before except for a scaled down Greek cruise on a really small, small ship. I don't know what I'm doing. Any advice will be appreciated. Have I really messed up and I should I just cancel the whale watching because of the time.
  4. I know that the Blue Bus runs every 30 minutes and maybe I'm being obtuse, but how long does it take to get to the glacier from the cruise port? Is it 30 minutes or longer? Thanks so much. I'm trying to plan a whale watching tour along w/a glacier tour and trying to figure out times.
  5. Thank you Glaciers and Disneyochem for this additional information.
  6. Thank you, Don't Use real name. This is most appreciated.
  7. I am looking at taking the train w/a late 9:15PM arrival in May. How safe is it walking from the Train Depot to the area hotels if you are a lone female? Are there plenty of people out and about at that time? Thank you.
  8. Thank you Crystal. I had gotten some emails from various Princess PVP but didn't use them because I was price comparing and came onto a good deal and decided to take it. Hopefully I get another email.
  9. Thanks Crystal and RKA! I appreciate your answers! And makes me feel better. I ended up booking online w/Princess. No PCC. Though one did contact me right after I booked. Maybe I can transfer to her. It's worth a try. Again, thank you!!!!
  10. I am about the book a room on a Holland America cruise northbound to Alaska. The adage is that you book on the right side (starboard) going Northbound, but the Cruiseline doesn't show any rooms on the right (starboard side). They are promoting a good deal right now and I want to book, but will I get an opportunity to change rooms once final payments are due and maybe some people don't end up going or am I stuck in the room I pick right now? Thanks!
  11. Thank you for the review. I am thinking of taking this cruise on this ship and was delighted to see your review of the ship and the ports.
  12. Thanks Cali. I think you are right.
  13. Northern Aurora, thank you for the description. I have no common sense and no sense of direction, so for peace of mind, a DIY tour won’t work.
  14. GTJ, thank you for the detailed answer. You have given me a lot to think about.
  15. I’m looking at the Princess 10 night Denali cruisetour leaving from Fairbanks with 2 nights at the Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge. The TripAdvisor reviews of the lodge are less than stellar. A big concern of mine, as a solo female, is no AC and having to have the window open at night. Some people have said the train ride was not that great and even being at this location in Denali wasn’t that great. But this was mixed in with the lodge reviews and didn’t go into too much detail. This is a once in a lifetime trip due to my location and cost. I’m torn on whether the land portion is worth it or if I should just do the cruise. Any and all prior experiences and opinions are welcome. Thanks.
  16. Coastcat, thank you for the additional info. I’m not confident enough to play around with cabins and pricing, yet. 🙂 NSnJW, I’m yet to see any single offerings on Princess or HAL, when I went through the pricing exercise, just the cabin type. Princess did ask how many; but HAL didn’t even do that. Which is one of the reasons I reached out for help here.
  17. Thank you! I was concerned that the cruise ships would charge me more than what two people would pay for the room. So for a 2kpp, 100% would be 2k 150% would be 3k 200% would be 4k
  18. I've been reading the boards and seeing %s such as 100%, 150% and 200% and cannot figure out what that means. If I want to book as a single a balcony cabin that is $2kpp and there is no single deal, do I just double that for 4k total. Is this considered a 100% supplement or a 200% supplement? I truly don't have a lot of common sense, so if someone could explain it in simple terms using simple math, I would appreciate it so much. I've only cruised one other time 20 years ago and it was on a very small ship in the Greek Isles through a tour agency. I've never cruised any of the Carnivals, HALs, Princess, etc. I'm looking at a CruiseTour on either Princess or HAL in Alaska. I have to a balcony due to claustophobia. Thanks so much for your help.
