    Hello Community,

our 80+ year old parents are boarding the Noordam in a few month to sail from New Zealand to Vancouver Canada.
One of the requirements to even board the ship is to still show a COVID Test no older than 24 hours at embarkation.

They are not very good with technology and so far HAL is just telling them to call their hotel (they are staying in Auckland 3 days prior boarding) and ask "Where is the closest COVID test station?".

Obviously we live in 2023 now and those test stations are far an between, unlike in 2021 or early 2022 when you were able to find this service anywhere.

Anyone here that lives in Auckland that can give us some pointers how to navigate around this to find them a test station?

Any tips are appreciated as we want to ensure this embarkation is as painless as possible.
They are 4 Star Mariners, so travelled a bit however this requirement gives them and us anxiety.

    Thank you

PS: We are actually wondering how this will pan out if they for some reason test positive before the cruise.
    Stuck in Auckland....bye bye ship....

You said the cruise is in a few months. Are the protocols even published yet? I only see first quarter cruises listed.

    Steve the OP here.

We would like to arrive 2 days prior to the cruise's departure yet when the cruise ship returns and the cruise is complete, we'd like to fly out that same day.

Can this be arranged using the HAL's website flight feature?

Yes, you pick the days, the times, the cities, airports, everything.

  3. They must have changed the $1 deposit offer this time.  In August we booked our 14 night April Transatlantic with $1 deposit inside cabin Private Fare, no HIA.  The rates were very low in conjunction with the $1 deposit so it was a no-brainer.  We then moved the reservation to a TA and got further discount and OBC.  Once we got reasonable airfare through Flightease and a few other $ saving perks, we made final payment.

Sorry it didn't work out for some this time.

I always tell people to ticket as soon as possible. Prices can go up and Flight Ease can even forget to ticket your flights if you don't ask them!

My flights were cancelled a couple weeks ago by United presumably for non-payment.

Just for reference if you have a casino or past cruiser fare category cruise you will not get the on board credit for owing the stock.

How do I know if I have a Past Cruiser Fare Category?  I have not been denied the stockholder OBC.

  6. I think I read that you can now use FCCs for deposits.  My question is then, if you use the FCC for deposit and the booking is a Non-refundable deposit, then you lose the FCC if you cancel before Final Payment?  I haven't been on the Royal boards much lately, so pardon if this has been clarified before.  My search didn't find the exact answer.

Also, have there been any promotions lately where FCC's are given a boost?

  7. When I do the car rental searches, only Budget and Avis come up with dropoffs at and shuttles to Port Everglades.  In the past you could drop a car at FLL and Alamo would shuttle you over to Port Everglades by bus, but they don't appear to do that anymore.  Are there any other agencies that you can drop a car near the port and get shuttled to the ships?

Yes, I know you can drop the car at FLL and get an Uber to the port.  Just looking at all options.

You should be able to see this on the American Airlines app since part of the flights are with AA. It will also show if it has been ticketed. I am not aware of how you can see it on HAL.

Thanks. I can see ticketed on AA, but not on Iberia, the codeshare who is operating the transatlantic leg. It still says confirmed hold.

You SHOULD be able to see your flights on the HAL site under pre-cruise travel.  However, I always have a hard  time pulling up my reservations in Flight Ease and out of 20 times I try I can pull it up one time.  The number to call them is 1800- 628-4771 - I'm on with them now.  It's prompt 3 once you get the recording.  Good luck!

Yes, I can see flights, but not enough detail to see my fare class.  I can call FE.

  10. My flights have been a fiasco, but new ones have been reserved which include an American flight from MAD to MIA Operated by Iberia Airlines then American to TPA .  I requested Early TIcketing, and can see on the American site the status shows ticketed.  However my record on the Iberia site says Holding Confirmed.  Will this stay like this or should it change to ticketed?  I'm trying to determine my fare class on the Iberia flight to see what's included.  Is there somewhere to actually view the tickets?

  11. I've had a lot of problems with my Flightease reservations that have finally been sorted.  However, now when I go into my booking under Pre/Post cruise travel, I get this error.  I thought it might resolve overnight since they had to make pricing adjustments yesterday, but it hasn't.  Who could I contact?  I can't see my reservations although I can through the airlines website.

Just be careful the dryers on a cruise ship get hotter than yours.

Yes, we did the laundry bag on our Princess Transatlantic and the clothes lost so much life with their process.  Everything came out looking so worn.
