  1. My two cruises out of Baltimore, both on Carnival Pride, had long slow car line to get to porters. Then long slow line to park. Then long slow line through security. Then sat in rows and rows if chairs waiting for boarding. Both times we arrived around 11 and was close to 1 by the time we got on the ship. Boarding for zones 1 and 2 started around 12:30. My cruise last week on Royal, out of PC, we arrived at noon and was on the ship by 12:30 (3 other times we cruised out of PC was pretty good too). Cruised out of Miami, Jaxport twice and NY as well and all those were better than B- more. Just my experience only.

And debarkation off Pride, one of my cruises, was some hold up and we couldn't get off until like 10am. Sat in lounge waiting for our zone to be called for two hours or so. Only cruise, out of 10, we had such a delay in debarkation.

Then, it is Carnival's fault. I have cruise over close to 30 times from Baltimore with Royal and we have had trouble only 1 or 2 times with embarkation or debarkation. Maybe, Carnival doesn't run it as smoothly as Royal.

I hope they, meaning Royal, keeps a ship in Baltimore.

  2. When we took our whole family on a cruise, 9 people total, they would not allow them to board with us in the D+ line. We just went with them, since it was their first cruise. But, when it was just our son and grandson cruising with us, they left them board with us.

  3. on that guys page? Yea it isn't offered. the RCCL shore excursion says it has shopping stops and a visit here. wondering if we should do this with the little

We did it through a Royal ship several yrs ago. We enjoyed it and it was very interesting. We did stop on the French side for a little while to shop. It was nice. I probably wouldn't do it again. I would take a different tour, but I think you would enjoy it.

  4. I don't recall them serving jack[emoji90] on Grandeur, this past February. Honestly, the M&M was quite disappointing. I don't think we'll attend another.

We were on the Grandeur in February too. I think the M&M has really gone down since I first started going to them. We even missed a couple of them because we had things we would have rather done.

No more little gifts when you got there. Of course, who needs another little note pad that they had been giving away for years. Now, they give nothing. The raffle gifts have really gone down hill too. It is nice meeting the cruisers you were talking to on CC though. But, not much time to actually M&M. I used to really like the cabin crawls, slot pulls and luncheons that they arrange before hand.

Maybe they will make a comeback and be strong again, but I won't hold my breath. I guess it also depends on the ship too.

  5. Ok so at 52 I'm blessed enough to be able to take early retirement....sold a biz I built from scratch...I'm a diamond member and I'm thinking of getting on a ship in October and sailing for a few months....I've called RCCL and they have no "specials" it really doesn't matter to me if its the Majesty or Harmony......or any In between...has anyone booked for 2,3 or 4 months in a row? When I call RCCL they talk to me like I have bananas growing out of my forehead. Lol

We have several friends that do that. It sounds wonderful, but, I also think that it might get to be the norm and going home would be the vacation......I'm afraid I would lose interest or get so used to cruising that it might get boring to me. I love the excitement of getting ready to go on a cruise. Also, I would probably weigh 500 lbs. if I did that.

But, if it was a choice between cruising full time or going to a nursing home....I'd definitely take the cruise.

I wouldn't mind trying it for a month or two. We will be going on our very first B2B next April after 40+ cruises. It will be 21 days. I sure hope I like it......don't get me wrong, I love cruising and we cruise at least 3-4 times a year and I look forward to each one of them. Just not sure of being on a ship all the time. I love my home, family and friends. I would miss that. If I were alone, then, that is another story....

  6. He's going to school to become a physical therapist. I thought he graduated, but he still has about 2 yrs to go, so I imagine he's pretty busy now. I'm a friend of his on Facebook, but, haven't really heard much from him on there either.

  7. Just note it may take several days to 2 weeks to see the credit back on your credit/debit card for the cancelled package. Good advice on booking first THEN cancelling!

It only took about 2-3 days to see the credit on my CC, after I cancelled mine, then booked it at a lesser price.

  8. There was a post on a social network where someone posted about the smaller ships. A lot of us were saying we like the smaller ships but, all they are building was the mega ships. Michael Bayley posted and hinted that they might be building a smaller ship in the future. Not sure how small, but I sure hope it is true. We need a new one in Baltimore.

  9. I see a small price drop for my cruise on Grandeur. I have a guarantee ocean view room on deck 2. it is only about 2 rooms from the port hole cabins (not all that crazy about it). I could get a mid ship deck 3 cabin for just $66 more for the two of us. I went through a TA. of course she is closed until Tuesday. Should I just try for a better guarantee room or go for the room on deck 3. Is the windows on deck 3 better?

Is there any way at all to get hold of your TA? Those cabins might not be available by Tuesday. That is the one reason I book through Royal. They are available 24/7. The only difference in windows is that on deck 2, they have the bar going down the middle of the window and on decks 3&4 are just one window, no bar down the middle. We had an outside cabin with the 2 portholes and I loved it. It was like looking through binoculars.

You can change cabins anytime as long as it is in the same category. I've done it many times.

  10. The thing that bugs me, is when someone lays the tongs in the food. I will either tell a food server to change the tongs, if they are close by, or just bypass that food.

I think all in all, that things are not that bad. Very few times have I heard of people being sickened from eating in the Windjammer. I love the Windjammer, especially in the evening. I almost always see the Captain and senior officers eating their dinner there. If it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me.

  11. We got a piece of cake with a candle from the Diamond Concierge on the Grandeur for our 50th Anniversary a couple years ago. Was a nice surprise. I'm sure our friends had something to do with it. One time on the Explorer, our cabin steward had the towel swans, champagne, a nice Anniversary card from our cabin steward and a nice certificate from the Hotel Director and Guest Services Manager congratulating us on our Anniversary.

  12. Cruzinlady1947, it looks like I'm on the Grandeur the week after you. I met you on my first cruise ever on the Grandeur. I love that ship. It feels like I am coming home.

Yes, I remember meeting you. Was it at the Veteran's get together? Or am I thinking of someone else. I remember they had no one to run the meeting, so they ask my husband to do it.

I knew your screen name was familiar, but, doing so many cruises, I forget who I met and where I met them, unless I cruise with them on a regular basis.

Enjoy your upcoming cruise. I'll take good care of the ship for you.....

That was on the Explorer out of NJ on November 4, 2012, Member Cruise to the Southern Caribbean. We had several friends on the cruise, so I was following their CC thread. Then one day someone posted that they had interior cabins for $399 pp. I couldn't believe it, so checked it out and just had to book it.

Probably will be the only time we will be able to cruise on a Member's cruise. It was great. Free excursion for D on up, free gifts delivered to your cabin several times during the cruise. All kinds of free classes, jewelry making, yard art, plus others. Definitely one of our better cruises.

  14. We are at the 90-day mark...sailing 10/28/17. So there will be more docs needed to be printed?

    MARAPRINCE

I'm on that cruise and the luggage tags will not be ready to print until about 49 days out from sail date, like Bob said. You should get an email telling you the documents are released.....then you can print the luggage tags. You won't have to print the actual documents, unless you want to. You only need the set sail pass and your luggage tags. You really don't have to print the luggage tags either. They can have the porters do that when they take your luggage.

  15. We usually book 3 or 4 cruises a year. The most was 7 in one year, but, the prices were so good, we couldn't "not" do them. We got a Member's Cruise on the Explorer that year, about a month before the cruise for $399 pp for an 11 night cruise, interior. No way would we have passed that up. As far as too many cruises......never!

  16. I will make Emerald status on my next cruise. I have made my final payment on the cruise after that. Will I need to print new luggage tags that show my new status? I cruise in August & again in November.

You won't be able to print your luggage tags until at least 49 days out from your cruise. If you are making your Emerald status on your next cruise, you won't be Emerald until the following cruise and till you get the documents released, your new status should be updated and your new status of Emerald should be on them.
