  1. We just returned from a 7 day carnival cruise with a 12 year old girl. The 12 and up crowd sign themselves in and out. There is no other option!. I will say that most of the activities are from 8 pm till about midnight or later. "party at sea till 3" on one sea night. I made sure my daughter was always with a group. Absolutely do not go in anyone else's cabin for any reason. We brought sticky notes and she would check in hourly and if we weren't in the cabin she would leave us a note. I know my daughter and if anything she is a early cautious. The one thing I will share is when the ship was docked, I made her stay with me. My imagination started going wild and I imagined someone leaving the ship with her, but at sea I let her roam. I did notice lots of parents with Wilkie talkies and this is a great idea.

The first bolded part is why I don't cruise Carnival as this attitude seems to prevail among all the parents on board.

THIS is an incredibly BAD idea. What makes you think those of us trying to relax want to listen to the squealing and squawking of those infernal things while you try and find a signal, yell at your kid(s) to answer, ignore your kid(s) trying to get you to answer, and stop the feedback noise from interference? More often than not the steel decks keep them from transmitting any meaningful signal not to mention the interference from the other passengers and crew on the same frequency. Waste of time and just a rapid way to annoy all the other passengers.

  2. We were on the Equinox Dec 12th. We had no recogizable problems. When you get up in the morning do you immediately make your bed? Tired of reading how bad everything is on Celebrity. Maybe some people should get a life and look at a half full glass. If you don't like it don't go.

I was on the same cruise as the Bees and also had no issues. My room steward figured out my typical schedule and always had my room cleaned by the time I got back to relax a bit before lunch. I never had to tell him what my schedule would be so he could attend to the room. Of course I also made sure to leave the room as tidy as possible so he did not have much to do and that could have something to do with it.

On one day I was there when they wanted to clean and I am not sure who argued more about who was going to leave. I kept insisting I was going to be in and out and the poor housekeeper kept insisting he would come back. We fought over who would get to leave not stay. :D I won.

I have to question whether it was the Equinox as a whole versus a few people who got new and inexperienced or less than stellar cabin attendants. I had not major issues in my entire 11 days on the ship.

  3. What did you like about the ship? I'll be taking it soon and would lke to know.

I just cruised on the Equinox and LOVED everything. I had one small issue and the cabin steward was ALL over it. My luggage had not arrived by 8 pm. I called and he tracked it down and it had been held in the naughty room for no reason. It was in my room within 10 minutes of my inquiry. Other than that: the waiter was perfect, loved my table mates (made permanent friends to cruise with again), enjoyed sleeping by the pool in the solarium, food was fantastic, would cruise on Celebrity and the Equinox again.

  4. Excuses are negligible.

    1) My wife and I went on that day for lunch and dinner. That did not allow staff time to penetrate into the cabin twice?

    2) If the cruise line has rules, it must inform their customers before paying the cruise. And not once dropped them off the ship.

    Is not it? :-)))

The staff and cabin stewards are responsible for other cabins and passengers besides yours. Even though you left for lunch it does not mean the staff was aware and were available to enter the cabin at that specific time. By dinner time the staff to clean the cabin are typically already done for the day. They do get time off even if the cruise is under way. To expect them to come back on the limited schedule as you dictate is not reasonable with all the responsibilities they have.

As someone else said you did get a copy of the rules. It is the same one I got in my cruise documents and what you agree to when you book passage. Perhaps Celebrity is not the line for you but based on the information you have provided. It sounds like the expectations you had were far different than what their line provides. That does not mean the company is bad but that you need to choose a cruise line that is more in line with your expectations.

  5. There is no language barrier was not there. I do not know English and do not speak with anyone. At the time of the conflict with the "Celebrity" we said through an interpreter.

I understand that the captain has the right to expel any passenger from the ship. But for my previous 10 cruises with various cruise companies to me no one has ever threatened.

If employees "Сelebrity" do their work so that the client goes to a competitor - it is bad!

If you do not speak English then that IS a language barrier since the staff on Celebrity ships communicate in English primarily. Having to work through and interpreter also creates a barrier both of which commonly lead to misinterpreting what one party is trying to say or HOW they want it said. It can lead to emotions getting out of hand.

Even though you have cruised before and never been threatened to be disembarked early it does not mean that it can't happen. Circumstances on each ship and each trip are entirely different.

I am sorry you did not have a good time. I sailed on the Equinox recently and encountered no problems like you experienced. You are certainly free to take your business elsewhere but your having an isolated problem does not automatically mean that the company over all is bad.

  6. "I was accused of insulting the staff. Evidence was found. Even the injured was not found."

I can't speak for your country but in the business world a staff member only need report that a customer was rude and the employer (in this case Celebrity) can investigate but they are not required to produce the person who made the complaint for questioning by the customer. Have you considered that due to your language barrier the staff may have misinterpreted what you were trying to say and the way you said it?

"Threatens to drive the ship ashore."

Do you mean they threatened to remove you from the ship and put you ashore requiring that you return to your home country from that port? If this is what the staff told you might happen this is accurate. Passengers who interfere with the crew doing their jobs and create major issues are forced to disembark at the next port and return home at their own expense.

"They said that we do not let the cleaner into the cabin. But they do not admit when he has a cabin key?"

Staying on a ship is the equivalent to staying in a hotel. The cabin staff do have a key in order to enter the room not only for cleaning buy your safety. Posting a sign on the door demanding they not enter in addition to the "do not disturb" sign is rude. At some point the staff DOES have to go into your cabin to clean and assess the situation. You cannot refuse to allow them to do that.

"One might ask, do not threaten us to keep us in Honduras."

If you are refusing to cooperate with the required cleaning tasks of the ship's crew and being rude the Captain can put you ashore in the next port and not let you back on. There are cleaning duties on board that MUST be carried out to ensure that all the passengers stay as healthy as possible. If the personnel believe they need to check on your wife and her health and safety you cannot refuse.

"By the way, on our credit card after the cruise blocked amount is greater than it was in the long run. The reason, of course, are not reported."

This is also standard practice in the cruise industry as well as travel industry. A hold of a minimum amount per person in the cabin PER DAY is placed on your card. That amount is released when the actual charge is put through at the end of the cruise. That is why it is important to check the amount of available credit you have. You will not be charged more than what you owe.
