No, you haven't been reading my posts.  We always have an inside!  And not on Ventura. I can't remember the name of the Headliners show back in April, but my friend who travels with us and she is an ex professional singer/dancer, said it was West End level.  It was superb.  That was on Aurora.

Oh I'm sorry Jean I have mixed you up with someone else...apologies.

I am afraid I just couldn't believe they were still singing WWII songs and waving flags.    More my mother's era than mine and I'm 72!!  They need to get a bit more modern in my opinion.  I find them embarrassing, especially when moored next to another ship!

It's been the same with the final Headliners show where they are doing the same thing. I love the Headliners when they do a good show.  Not sure they still do it and hope they don't.  Last couple of shows in April were really excellent.

I agree Jean. We're happy to sit on our balcony until it's over. We had the best Headliners we've ever had in April on Ventura. Hoping for the same on the "ferry" on the transatlantic in October :). Booked a guaranteed suite (on select fare) and have been reading your posts on the forward facing one's. We had an aft last year and loved it so wondering if we'll get a forward one this year 🙂

Personally I find the British Sailaways awful and steer well clear, but I've never heard of any bad behaviour at them.

I am of the same view Jean. Never attend them but I know a lot of people love them; just not my scene.

    Hi,

Hope someone can help as I have just had an Indy of the Seas cruise cancelled for Oct 2020 and now I am looking at re-booking on Iona but I am a bit confused about cabins.

We would want either a balcony, deluxe balcony or conservatory mini-suite. We often book guarantee but I see that there are cabins on the promenade deck. I presume that means no proper balcony but instead we could have people walking passed our patio door?

Also do the deluxe / conservatory mini-suites have a bath?

Is there any good source of photos for the different balcony cabins i.e. standard/deluxe as the photo on the P&O site that I found is the same for both cabin grades.

Has anyone got any other tips on cabin location deck wise if we go with a Select fare?

Hi, the only cabins that have baths are suites on Iona. Deck 9 is probably the best deck for a conservatory mini suite :)

Very odd isn’t it. I assume that you were in your cabin during live performances? As I said, it was only a problem then, so those who don’t return to their cabin until late wouldn’t notice it, but we tend to go to bed earlier than many. I notice that G733 is on the starboard side whereas we were on the port side. I know that on some of the other P&O ships the noise is only heard on one side. For example, on Azura. If you are directly above the aft lounge on the port side it’s loud whereas if you are on the starboard side you can’t hear it - presumably due to speaker placement. Positioning of ventilation shafts is also a factor. We found that the sound wasn’t coming up through the floor but through a ventilation shaft that was on one side of our suite. The main issue for us was that, large balcony aside, there were just too many negative issues with the aft suite on Britannia whereas with the forward suites we had none of these problems - just a rubbish balcony!

It is very odd. Maybe we weren't in there when there was a live performance. We have booked E739 (not a suite) for this year so perhaps we will notice noise then (hoping not too though). We will miss the huge balcony that G733 has this year though 😕

We had multiple problems with an F deck aft corner suite on Britannia, including noise from the Live Lounge which, as stated previously by another poster, was transmitted up through ventilation shafts. To be fair, it was only a problem when live bands were playing (loud enough that you could hear every song clearly) but OK when it was recorded music. I suspect that those who don’t hear it are up late and retire to their cabins when the live music has ended. We did comment that G deck aft must only be suitable for those who are hard of hearing or don’t go to bed until the early hours!

We were also bothered by soot (which could never be fully removed by the poor cabin steward even after hosing down), vibration when at sea (and the associated rattles in the cabin that it caused) and, worst of all, noise from the plumbing room that was stupidly sited within our suite and serviced several other cabins.

The sole advantage of the suite was the size of the huge wrap around balcony, particularly when we had pole position for a firework display in Monaco. However, we would never book an aft suite on Britannia again as there were just too many irritants. By contrast, we have had aft corner suites on Arcadia and Ventura, as well as a forward suite on Britannia (twice) and would book any of those again in a heartbeat.

We had an aft on G deck - G733 and didn't hear a thing 🙂

  7. Well, I got the email to pre register & had a look & thought mmm!

A friend has just been to the Fjords & I just loved looking at all the scenic photos that she posted. Even though I did a Britannia cruise in her maiden season to the Fjords but I always thought I would do another Cruise so yep doing it again far sooner than I thought I would but it will be so worth it!

And the price was actually very reasonable, I have booked the same cabin category, a deluxe balcony & I am sure the price is near enough the same as it was on the Britannia. And past guests get 10% off too plus some on board credit.

We have pre registered too for Iona's maiden voyage......in a conservatory mini suite so fingers crossed we get it :)

  8. This morning we received another surprise from P&O they reimbursed us into our account the £120 that we had previously paid to book our two seats on the aircraft. I had actually written this one off because we were originally informed that this was definitely lost and I accepted it. I would now like to thank P&O for their generosity towards us and for all the help and assistance they have provided over the last few weeks. Thank you

Hi Pat. So pleased everything has been sorted out to your satisfaction. I am sorry we wont be seeing you in November in the Caribbean but have lovely memories of our first Caribbean cruise with the Pink Roses Group in 2014 and your organisational skills in getting us all to the beaches and back safely. I hope you and Scott can enjoy some other kind of holiday in the future if you can't cruise. Sending lots of love Nicola x

  9. Must have been a saver fare, otherwise she could have selected an exact cabin location, not just the Port side.

She has been asked 4 or 5 times why she wants to be on this side of the ship, but despite coming back to shout at us, she has still not given a reason.

Wowzz this is not always the case. I have booked select fare before but the cabin has been on a guaranteed basis so this could be the OP's case.

  10. And here I thought it was a friendly site.

    NOT

THIS IS MY VERY LAST CRUISE ( REASONS WHICH ARE VERY PERSONAL)

    Wanted it to be special.

    Now upset by comments.

Not all made of money took a lot to safe for one last cruise

Pippa ignore the negative comments. Ring up who you booked with and see if you can change. There's no harm in trying. Enjoy your last cruise :)

  11. Pat, I am so sorry to hear that you have to cancel your cruise, it sounds as if the messing around trying to defray costs is causing added stress too :( I hope that things improve such that future cruises become possible again.

Nicola/netchells, I am very sorry for your loss.

    Thank you 💗💗

  12. So so sorry to hear about your Dad netchells believe me my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this sad time. I paid by Debit Card so no hope of recooperating anything apart if someone wishes to purchase our cruise. Hope you enjoy the Caribbean in November. Pat xx

Thank you Pat. It's worth a try even if you paid by debit card. The bank refunded my daughter when she paid with hers :) Sending my love to you xx

  13. I was just going to mention about the credit card. If you paid for it on a credit card the insurance company will sometimes look to recovering part of the cost from the credit card company. I know this as sadly my dad passed away on Thursday and we should have been on a cruise at this moment in time but we cancelled last week. It's worth a try if you booked on a credit card Pat xx

  14. Help please,Can anyone advise me on how to try and sell our cruise

on Azura Caribbean Nov 2018 flying from Glasgow We require to sell due to sudden ill health and because insurance company refuse to pay out. Can’t put further details down or telephone contact number in case breaking rules on CC. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you[/quote

Hi Pat I am so sorry to hear this as we were so looking forward to meeting up with you (we are on Britannia). I feel your pain as we should be on Azura at this moment but have cancelled as my dad was very poorly and then passed away on Thursday. We are hoping the insurance will pay out too. I hope you can get this sorted and in the future cruise again as I know how much you both love it. Sending you lots of love

    Nicola x

  15. We have stayed in an aft suite on Britannia on F deck. If you search the forum you will find countless comments regarding noise, vibration and mostly soot on balconies from those who have had aft balcony cabins on Britannia.

As for the specific question regarding noise from the Live Lounge, we found it to be an issue even on F deck. Live music was loud enough that we could hear every song clearly from inside the suite. When it was recorded music, such as the disco, we could still hear it but it was more distant and not loud enough to keep us awake. We did, however, comment on several occasions, that it must have been deafening on G deck.

We love Britannia as she has the best Select dining restaurants, most modern cabins and facilities, but we would never book an aft cabin again

We are going armed with earplugs :)

  16. We heard nothing in G733, although this is further back than G719. As we climbed the stair and entered the hallway back towards the rooms the music could not be heard anymore. I hope it is acceptable, but if the band are playing I would recommend being in the lounge.

We have G733 in October and heard conflicting reports of noise and soot issues :)

  17. Sorry if this has been asked before!

The P&O website states that flight seats can be booked approx 14 weeks prior to departure. We are booked on the Britannia TA in October, fliying back 2 weeks later.

My question is, does "departure" refer to the start of the cruise or the date of the flight? I'm aware that seats can get booked quickly, with people staying up late to catch the 'release' date, and I don't want to be left with the ones nobody else wants!

    Thanks

    Hi Mark

It refers to the date you fly back so should be available on Saturday 4 August I think :)
