  1. Thanks! I'll have my smart phone because I love to use the GPS app while sailing. The MSC app looks pretty cool and useful!

Catdid,,,you'll be connecting to MSC's local intranet,,not the internet,,so be careful when using other apps that need either internet or LTE, 4G, 3G,, whatever your phone uses for data

  2. Thank you!

So, I'm assuming then that you must subscribe to the internet package in order to download the app... Thanks again for your reply!

Catydid,,you just need to connect to MSC's network to use the app,,no internet package is necessary. We had trouble getting it to work the first time, we went to guest relations and they helped us out.:)

  3. MSC will be back nov. 2015. Msc is much nicer in every aspect than Princess. IMO. We have done many 6 cruises with MSC we like it so much.

We'll be catching up to you soon Riclop. We have 5 sailings booked including a 10 day in November 2015, the first sailing from Miami when she returns from Europe. Now if I can find a way to get on the waiting list for the inaugural sailing of one of the new ships:D:D

  4. We are a family of 5 and are long time Princess cruisers. In the summer of 2015 we are looking for something different (a non-Princess cruise) and MSC intrigues us. However when I look for 2015 Caribbean sailings nothing is available. Does anyone know if MSC will be back next year or was this year a one time shot?

Has anyone done a Princess cruise and an MSC cruise. I would be interested in how the 2 cruise lines compare.

    Paul

Divina will be sailing to the Caribbean from Miami beginning in November of 2015.

  5. We are looking into booking a yacht club cabin. Many info anyone can provide would be helpful.

  6. My husband and I are booked on the Divina in sept 6th so I'm trying to learn as my as I can about it.

    So, my questions

Soft serve ice cream, where is it served and what hours is it available? (I love my ice cream)

Self serve ice cream is available at the Auqua Park (deck 14) between 2:00pm and 5:00pm.

Theme nights, how involved are people in this? Do you dress up in a theme for dinner or is it just after dinner parties on the pool deck?

I can't really say how many people get involved with the theme night parties. I suppose attendance fluctuates from cruise to cruise. We will be attending at least 2 of the theme night parties. I don't see us wearing an all white outfit for the "White Party" to dinner so we will change later that evening.

Dinner, other than formal night how dressed up do you need to be? I usually wear capris and a nice blouse hubby wears khaki pants and a polo shirt, will this be ok?

You both will be fine. No shorts are allowed in the dining rooms after 6:00pm.

And any other helpful tips would be appreciated . I've asides carnival and royal Caribbean but I feel like I'm a newbie on this ship.

Get to the cruise terminal early, between 10:00 - 11:00 to avoid long check-in lines unless you are sailing in the Yacht Club.

  7. My husband has tried a couple but he said it would give him a headache after. Does anyone have any good suggestions on one that we can try out before we sail next year? Also, he used the ones that doesn't have the liquid catridges. He said he didn't want to have to mess with pouring stuff. But if those are better than I will tell him he just has to get over it lol

Nickel,,I tried the Blu e-cig,,it was terrible. I switched to a refillable e-cig with a rechargeable battery and variable voltage. I haven't smoked a regular cigarette since and I smoked for over 30 years.

  8. Thanks. That's the answer I was afraid of! We have 20 nights on board next April. No laundry might be OK for 7-10 days, but nearly 3 weeks!

Crewe,,they do run laundry specials throughout the week.

  9. Mike if you get there about 10:30-11:00 the check in process gets done very quickly because they have lots of open windows.

We may have to do that Riclop. We are in the Yacht Club and luckily avoid those lines, but our cousins are going along with us who are not.

  10. We are sailing the Divina in August. I just did my online check in with passport numbers etc. Did I miss something or are you not able to set up your ships account on line also?. I know when I sail other cruise lines we can enter a credit card number and have the account all ready to go before we go on board. We are also ready to print out our boarding passes and luggage tags. All they told me to print out was the sort of confirmation of the passport numbers. Is THAT all that is needed for boarding? Did I miss another step to set up the ships account on line?

    Cheers

    Len

Giant,,your boarding passes and luggage tags will be e-mailed to you 30 days prior to the embarkation date. You will also set-up your sign and sail account with your credit card info during the check-in process. I think they need to tweak that process a little bit though. Our cousins told us they stood in line for almost an hour before they were able to check in.

  11. 😓i thought it was all included

  13. I'm taking a couple of smokers on a Divina cruise next month. As far as I'm concerned, I'd be happy if the only designated smoking area was on a barge being towed behind the ship, but they might feel differently. So, I'm trying to gather information to tell them what to prepare for.

I know smoking's only allowed in the Cigar Lounge and the "port side of designated outdoor decks". We're in the Yacht Club, so I'm wondering if the One Pool area is a "designated outdoor deck", or if they have to leave the Yacht Club to smoke. I'm sure they'd prefer to just pop up one deck instead of having to walk down to the regular pool (and mingle with the Hoi Polloi - Horrors!)

Anyone have an answer of which decks are the "designated outdoor decks"?

Smoking is allowed on the port side of the ship on the One Bar Deck(deck 18).:)

I am in 16006 for the crossing in April 2015, have been in YC on splendida twice, looking forward to this cruise, and hoping the forward location is not a problem as we have always been on the starboard side.

We love the forward location,,I swear we both have never had a better nights sleep, must be the subtle rocking motion.:)

  15. WOW!!! Just read about MSC's new plans for the Divina. .

I think I dodged a bullet here.;) I had b2b cruises booked on the Divina in late September/October, 2014. I recently cancelled both of them and rebooked on Carnival bc Carnival's is currently not charging solo cruisers double. I am platinum on Carnival and, to be honest, I anticipated being rather bored on the Divina (nothing wrong with Divina at all) but booked the b2b because the Divina price was so low. Carnival's rah-rah, fun-fun atmosphere is more to my liking to be honest.

I am happily anticipating my Carnival B2B ($500 more in total) and, IMPO, do not believe that the staff on the Divina will be all that attentive to the taste and norms of their Miami passengers now that it has become known that Divina will be based out of Europe for most of the year.

I think I dodge a big bullet. Sorry things didn't work out for MSC as they had hoped tho. :(

Divina is going to Europe in April of 2015 and will return to Miami in November. We are booked ion the final two voyages in April as well as the first 10 day sailing in November 2015.

  16. AmericanBear,,Thank You again for the info. Our favorite stateroom, 16008 in the Yacht Club wasn't available so we reserved 16009 for the 10 day November 11,2015 sailing. This was the stateroom we had on our first sailing on Divina back in May and we loved it!! Thanks Again AmericanBear!!!:D

  17. MSC Divina has a production show each night:

Day 1: Frank Forever--> Musical tribute to Frank Sinatra

    Day2: Wonderland--> A wonderful World of Imagination

Day3: Simply Italian--> The Most Beloved Italian Songs

Day4 The Witches Of Paris--> French Variety At Its Best

    Day5: Pirates--> Pirate Stories

    Day6: Starwalker--> Michael Jackson Tribute

Day7: The Tribute--> A Modern Representation Od Some Of The Most Famous Opera Arias

Obviously some of these shows we skip because they do not fit our taste but there is always a production show each night in the 1600 seat theatre as well as live music in almost every club and lounge.

Here's an example of their Starwalker show:

  18.

Thanks. Our Bermuda roll call is slow! Early though. The travel cons. told me they will have a sale in Jan. for that cruise - whatever that means!

That would be good I think. I have a few family members that are still on the fence, hopefully they'll come out with a great promotion!!:)

  19. riclop, Thanks for the info, and hopefully you're right, one of the new ships will come to Miami!:D

Mike, as of 7/5, one of the TA sites we use shows 10 days, 11/12-11/22, 3 YC deluxe cabins available on Dk 16, so you might want to check some other sites if your still interested, and that's the right date! If its the wrong date, ignore!

That's the correct date American. I'll have to call my PVC today. Thanks so much for the info!!!:)

  20. Does anyone know about the windows in the captains suite? I'm referring to the two cabins above the ends of the bridge on the valor or similar class ships. I've heard something about because these windows when open (meaning without shades drawn), sometimes the bridge will require and control the shades be drawn? Or am I totally off?

We were in the Captains Suite on the Valor back in March. The blinds were closed every night by our cabin attendant. The balcony light is disabled as well.
