  1. Yes.

I have found most insurance policies allow either high blood pressure medication OR cholesterol medication to be taken without penalty, but not both.

1 Cover insurance will cover these conditions with the following provisor.......

    22) *Hypercholesterolaemia (High Cholesterol) - provided you do not also suffer from a known cardiovascular disease and/or diabetes

    23) *Hyperlipidaemia (High Blood Lipids) - provided you do not also suffer from a known cardiovascular disease and/or diabetes

    24) *Hypertension (High Blood Pressure) - provided you do not also suffer from a known cardiovascular disease and/or diabetes

There are others that are covered as well.

  2. Smart casual is what I class as minimal dress standard for all restaurants except Windjammers.

This would be a collared shirt with either pants or clean jeans with shoes. Sand shoes/runners can be worn. I usually have one suit with two shirts and two ties, and about four or five casual shirts with two pair of jeans.

If it is warm I will have dinner and then go and change for the rest of the evening, hanging up the clothes for another night.

Minimum for Windjammers is beach wear with thongs and a shirt of any description.

Formal nights are covered in the other thread.

  3. Signature shows Rhapsody 28 December so I guess that's the one! :)

    Doesn't show with Tapatalk. :(

If it is the Rhapsody there is only one line for C&A people and you will be able to all go there together. Have not had them check deck number, just that you are a member. We were the first two people to board on our last cruise.

  4. Cabin 3079 on the Rhapsody of the seas is a large interior cabin on deck 3. The layout is the same as for all other large interior cabins.

Comparable cabin pictures can be found here.

The cabin is what I class as conveniently located on the port side of the ship, 5 cabins down from the main elevators.

Beware that you will get noise through the ceiling from the R Bar. This noise will included muffled music by the bands that play in the Centrum, but the main noise is from the movement of the bar stools on the tiled section of floor in front of the R Bar. The worse part of this is when the cleaners do they thing in the early hours of the morning and move the stools around.

My recommendations would be to pick a starboard side cabin in the same class, possibly further forward to not be affected by this. We have stayed in cabin 3565 and did not have this problem.

  5. Hi Taffy,

The book was called Cuisine de nouvelle Caledonie,

the only reason i remebered to look as someonelse on here asked the same question but I was unable to find the thread to post the reply, the book was priced around $40 from memory

    Hope that helps Maree

Pretty sure I saw this book at the market on top of the Noumea port side shops last week. Thought it was odd that they were selling a book, actually several, that weren't in English when they would have known what ship was there.

Maybe someone could look there as well for you.

  6. Saw an example of someone who did their own thing in Vila a few days go, and possibly forgot all aboard was 2:00pm for a sail away at 2:30 pm.. Captain waited till 3:10pm until they left the dock.

The blast on the ships horn had the people running down the street, only to see the ship keep going.

They made it to Noumea and rejoined the plane, but it is an example of what can happen.

  7. You missed the whole point!

The cruise is paid for in USA Dollars by the purchaser regardless of which card they use or weather the card charges exchange fees or not but you cannot purchase the cruise in US Dollars only Au Dollars:confused:

You may think its a hassle converting currency but I dont!

Do you allow RCI to convert your onboard account into AU Dollars from US Dollars?

I would much prefer to purchase an RCI cruise in US Dollars but I am not allowed to by RCI.

The cruise costs what the cruise costs in US Dollars same as all RCI onboard accounts.

I take US$ in cash with me and put that in to my sea pass card. I bought a heap when the AU$ was very high.

Even if the prices for people in Oz where in US$, and you paid US$ with a credit card, you will have currency conversion fees on your card unless you have a card from a US bank.

Try buying something from the US direct and use your Visa card, there will still be fees for it.

  8. What is totally wrong "In My Opinion" is RCI Australia advertises in Au Dollars but when you pay by credit card it is paid to RCI USA and converted back to American Dollars and you then have to pay exchange fees from AU to US Dollars:confused:

You cannot buy the cruise in US Dollars if you live in Australia but if the final payment is in US Dollars then there is no reason not to advertise in US Dollars or at least have the option of purchasing the cruise in US Dollars if you so choose. Well actually there is a reason! if you could purchase in US Dollars there would be no need for an Australian RCI and then we would all get exactly what the cruise costs, no more no less.

The fee is not charged by RCI, but by the bank. 28 Degrees MasterCard does not charge this fee when you pay. It shows up as the amount you pay and nothing more.

I would hate to be having to look up the exchange rate each time I looked at a cruise if the pride was in US$.

  9. Question:

I looked at the australian post website and noticed you can buy US currency online.

How does this work? Do they send the money to you?

You put in an order and the go and pick it up from the designated post office of your choice.

Download the AP App and it will show you exactly how much it will cost, as well as being able to do the purchase. (Internet connection required.)

  10. I always feel that when I book a cruise, it has the characteristics that I want.

    The date is right.

The length of the cruise is right.

    The price is right.

Once it is booked I don't worry about it much more. The reason is this. When I booked it, I was happy with it.

I do not look at what I could get it for, just what I can get it for.

It can create too much stress to save $100 on a 9 night cruise.

If it easy to get a discount like it was for our March cruise, then yes I will try to get it, but it is not worth the stress worrying about what another country can get the same cruise for.

  11. I'm just now getting a quick chance to read through all your Compass scans. Thanks for doing that, it's very nice to be able to see what to expect.

I'm wondering if you and other passengers (if you know) got amounts of the local cash before leaving on your cruise, or if you were able to use just Aussie $. We were advised by our bank that Aussie $ in the Pacific Islands would be fine and American $ in The Samoas was all that we'd need, but I'm reading in Compass that perhaps we would be wise to have some local currency. We have looked into a multi currency 'travel card' but I'm sure that we'd be better off having cash for villages in the Pacific.

If that's the case I'd rather be able to scare some up locally here rather than have to chase down some on the ship.

Again, any advice is welcome. Thanks, Helen :)

I have used AUD at most places without a worry. Saying that, in noumea I did, but got francs back as change. The lady gave me 50 francs as a 50 cent piece, so you need to be careful there.

The people on the small island stops will take AU$.

Suva - they like you to have Fiji money at a lot of shops, but some take either. I got some from the hole in the wall and paid $7 for it.

I have heard that you can get local $ from guest services, but I have never done it.
