  1. Well if your familiar with casino buffets then I'm sure y'll be more than happy with ship buffet. Enjoy!
  2. I thought the buffet area's on all the ships were clothing optional by the way some dress or should I say lack of.
  3. I didn't see any chairs or umbrella's but there are lots and lots of trees for shade that you don't have to worry and just pull in and out of the sun/shade as you need to, your only a hop skip and jump from the water. Yes you can use hotel washrooms, there is a set located in their lobby next to the sandwich/coffee bar on the right side of hotel as your stand with your back to the ocean. On the left side of the large hotel pool y'll see a water fall behind the water fall are washrooms, these ones will be closer to the beach. There are also a set located on the left side of beach when your facing ocean but I think the ones behind waterfall are much closer. When on the beach take a stroll through the treed area along the ocean it's quite nice with hotel/condo homes. Don't know when your going but we have been there twice, once in October and once in Jan. and neither time has the hotel been anywhere near busy. And the beach seems to be used more by NCL and Roberts than hotel guest's because their grounds and pool area are so nice. This to me is a very high end Marriott and quite nice. Would not hesitate to go back to this beach.

  5. Hilo - Akaka Falls, Nani Mau Gardens & Macadamia Nut Farm Akaka Falls and nut farm are great to see but the Nani Mau Gardens is a disgrace! You can read recent reiews at tripadvisor, here is the link http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g60583-d131370-Reviews-Nani_Mau_Gardens-Hilo_Island_of_Hawaii_Hawaii.html the 2nd review down is mine "January 17Th" We even complained to the tour operator and they have since dropped it and replaced with Akatsuka Orchid Nursery.
  6. Do a search as there are a million threads on this subject to the point it's been beaten to death. You need to do your own homework on this cruise as to whether you want to fly to Hawaii and board ship or sail out of LA and deal with all the sea days and then the cost factor.
  7. Sorry my mistake it was the Marriott Waikoloa Beach Resort Spa for Kona the NCL and Roberts goes to. The beach at the pier is fine to swim as well, the water is exceptionally crystal clear and its where the Iron Man swim takes off from. We have also seen turtles at King Kamehameha Hotel area.
  8. I totally agree! They don't need chocolate and food stuff any more than we do when cruising and over indulging. Give them extra money so that they can take care of their family. Your cards and things are just going to go in the garbage. So don't wwaste your time. Trust me I have spoken to ship staff about this when I tried to give steward unopened bottles of wine.
  9. We have done both but with Roberts (gorabbitgo) but the Kona beach break is at the same spot that NCL goes to but of course much cheaper. It's the King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel its a very nice spot small beach with lagoon area lots of lounges and shade and have seen turtles at the end of beach. Across the street is a small high end mall with some nice shops, including a nice small Macy's outside restauarnts, cafes and lots of benches around to sit. If you do Roberts that's were they'll pick you up. If you do NCL they have a booth on the beach for renting snorkel equipment and towels and not sure what else. They will also have food for sale but not cheap. You could also splurge and have lunch at the hotel. The only problem with this excursion is that the beach is about 30 to 45 min. drive and its not the greatest drive for scenery unless you like looking at lava fields. We like this spot because it's not busy. As for Maui we have done one with Roberts it was South Maui beach transfer beach in any event it wasn't that great of a spot and we had to rent chairs from across the street from a variety store and there was no shade, it was fricken hot. I wouldn't recommend the Roberts tour for family as its a very small rather tiny beach. As for the one NCL offers I know nothing about it.

  11. I would take the soot issue, you can always clean it off but you can't make the wind go away.
  12. They use to use Elemis products in all cabins but now its only in the suites. This is an expensive product but often folks didn't like it because they are not accustomed to high end shampoos. They are also back to using the no name NCL hand lotion which is very greasy in all the cabins except suites were they still use Elemis lotion which is really good stuff. So now if we are not in a suite we bring along a bar of Dove.
