  1. Hi, can anyone help us out were Regatta would berth at Hiroshima or is that decision made by port authorities closer to the due date.

From what I understand there are at least two options.

    Many thanks.

  2. Thanks for your interesting review.

not really sure if this question was asked or answered.

What if you were a transit cruising through Tokyo…that is, we leave from LA and exit at Singapore. At the same time the same cruise starts at Tokyo and continues.

Do the transits have to to suffer the same as the ones just beginning the cruise at Tokyo.

    Hope this makes sense.

    cheers

    Okay...I'm a "local"...

I love the Doubletree...AND I have stayed there pre-cruise (We now live a little over an hour from the port, so, often, we extend our holiday and stay nearby for a night pre-cruise.

Thanks Steve, just what we were looking for. We did wonder about how safe the area was for walking but that could be said anywhere. We have been to LA a couple of times and must say it wasn’t our favourite city. We will spend the second day out and about and you have shared some great information.

    Thanks so much

     Cheers

For me, staying at the Torrance DoubleTree is about the variety of dining options in the area.

Any longer than the 2 nights I think that would be the option.

After 16 hours on a plane, not sure whether we would be looking for too much the first night which only leaves one more day.

    Appreciate your comment.

  5. Thanks for your thoughts.

We will stick with Doubletree in San Pedro who offers a free shuttle.

Shopping malls don’t appeal especially with our exchange rates.

We just need to buy some scotch for the cruise and probably walk the area and perhaps a bus to Long Beach

    thanks all

  6. Hi folks, we are flying into LAX from Sydney on Oct 1st and sailing out late on the 3rd.

As Hilton diamond members we have this stage we have booked the Doubletree in San Pedro. Having found this forum I’m wondering if this was the wisest choice.

Just wanted to ensure this was a safe area as far as being safe in LA is.

It would seem from past posts there is not much to do during the one and a half days we are there. We do apparently get a free shuttle to the cruise terminal.

The other option we have read is to stay in Torrance where this also a Doubletree and perhaps more to do to spend the short time we have here.

    Would appreciate any thoughts.

    Cheers

  7. Hi from Australia.

Previous cruises have been with Oceania.

We are looking at our first SS cruise 28 days Sept 5th 2024 Copenhagen -Copenhagen.

Initially we were looking at previous cruises that included Geiranger fjords but dates aren’t quite right for us and prefer a longer trip.

For any cruisers that have sailed a similar itinerary, could you give us an idea if we are going to experience some fjord sailing and thoughts on this trip.

    Appreciate any replies.

    Cheers

  8. We boarded Regatta last week. Took the Olife house package and upgraded to the $20/day premium, which had actually expected to be $30.

Wine at all lunch venues including the Terrace flows very freely regardless of any package. Can’t fault the service and everyone is offered another glass as soon as it’s empty.

I believe we are getting value for our money.

  9. We are currently on the Regatta and boarded this week.

    The upgrade was surprisingly $20/day.

Even though we booked a 33 day cruise (actually back to back)….they would only offer the $20 upgrade for the first segment.

We are wondering if they are now going to increase the upgrade to $30 next segment, even though we booked one cruise Fjords to Atols 33 days.

the average wine price is $11USD as is the spirit prices….plus the 18% gtatuity and then bring it to Australian dollars it’s expensive drinking.

Very happy we have the upgrade.

They are very generous with drinks….not sure why you would want to walk away with one.

Most hairdryers sold in the US (just like cell phone chargers et al.) are dual voltage. Check the label on her hairdryer to see the voltage(s). If it’s only 220v, it won’t work in the US outlet.

No “dual” voltage but most appliances in Australia are labeled 220v - 240v.

  11. Guessing this is an old query but with the refits can someone help me with the power outlets now installed.

We are from Australia so one way or another we are needing something different than home.

Interested in the 220v European plug which appears there could be two options.

I don’t believe the USA outlets will run our 240v appliances….not that we would take much but my lovely wife is attached to her hair dryer and accessories knowing full well that one is supplied in the cabin 🙂🙂🤨🤨

    Any replies much appreciated.

  12. Glad you agree,

I have been torturing myself with that option and hoping the upgrade on board will go ahead without issues. I realise it has gone up but it’s still a better option especially on a 33 day cruise.

When I try to purchase a drinks package, by logging in to my booking online, I get the error message OP did: "Due to beverage restrictions you can not shop at this time" and the system flicks me back to the overview screen. My cruise is in two weeks so it's not too early to book it presumably. No worries if no one's familiar with this issue I just wondered if there might be someone here who had encountered it and perhaps either solved it or knew what the problem was. Thanks

I believe we are on the same cruise. I had the option of purchasing either drinks package on our account. I did opt out of that and took the Olife house package rather than OBC on the advice of our Oceania Sydney rep. We will upgrade on board. It was a significant saving by doing that in Australia.
