  1. Thank you for starting my morning off with a smile. ☘️🙂
  2. I am going to offer a different opinion. I am platinum (almost platinum plus) on NCL and almost 3 star Mariner (started with HAL about 3 years ago). Husband and I sailed on Zuiderdam in a Neptune Suite at end of January. Sister and I just returned yesterday from a cruise on the NCL Dawn. We were in a Penthouse Suite (not Haven) with large balcony. I will not sail in any of the big ships on HAL or on NCL, so the size and layout of both ships were similar. My husband loves sailing on HAL for the salad bar in the buffet (among other things, of course). We eat there daily and bring the food
  3. Love it!!! We are going on the Dawn in a Family Suite with a balcony this coming weekend. Thanks for adding to the anticipation!!
  4. Thanks, roger001. No matter what, I am not going to let it ruin my vacation (with a nod to sunsetsoon). 😂
  5. Thanks for posting. We are in 12528 (same cabin opposite side of ship) this coming Sunday. Can you tell me which side of ship had better views at the ports when docked?
  6. Don't give up. I got one the day before sailing. It's possible!
  7. "The Escape tried to be a nonsmoking casino. That lasted only a few cruises until the smokers won out as a revenue source." This is absurd. NCL needs to try harder and stand their ground. I can remember when smoking was allowed in restaurants and on airplanes and in hotels and in cruise ship cabins, among other places. When non smoking policies were put into place, smokers threatened to boycott. Guess what? They can no longer smoke in the aforementioned places and they still frequent them because they need to travel and need places to stay and eat. If smokers really want to
  8. I agree with ValleyVillage. The Minisuites on the Sun are indeed special. Well worth the $300 IMHO.
  9. I am sorry to inform you that they do not. Our spa time pick up was always an hour earlier than ship time. We stopped doing that excursion because of it. I haven't been there for a couple of years but will be there on the Dawn the first week of March. Perhaps things have changed. Also, our first visit to Mahogany Bay was when we were cruising on the Spirit.
  10. You must also consider that there is a one hour time difference between local time in Roatan and ship time. It does not usually work out in your favor, based on our many visits there by cruise ship
  11. I have done that 10 day Southern Caribbean twice -- once with my husband, and once with my sister. Both times it was on NCL Sun, my very favorite ship. Breakfast at the Great Outdoors was absolutely delightful. I would do it again in a heartbeat, especially if I were in a suite (although the mini suites on the Sun are quite large). I prefer traveling on smaller ships so cannot compare the Sun to any of the Away ones or larger.
  12. When we had the 2 BR Family Suite on the Jade a couple of years ago, there were no loungers. What you saw in the pictures is exactly what we had. Since there were only 2 of us, it didn't matter that much. One of the reasons that my sister and her husband don't join my husband and me in the 2 BR suite is that the balcony is too small. Even the Family Suite, whose balcony is quite large, only has 2 loungers and a table with 2 chairs. If you want a large balcony with more than 2 loungers, I would suggest going with the Haven.
  13. We have stayed there 3 times, both before and after cruises. My advice is not to wait for free shuttle. When we had a late night flight into FLL we waited over an hour for the shuttle. It never came and we ended up taking an Uber. Going to the airport the day after another cruise, the shuttle was late. We ended up taking an Uber to the airport in order to get through security and check bags to make flight. Flying is stressful enough without worrying about transportation problems. The front desk personnel, however, has been wonderful each and every time we have been there. They recommen
  14. We have done both and sailed on both ships. Last spring we did the Western. Next week we are doing the tropical again, not because we liked the itinerary (we really don't) but because we got a super deal on a Neptune. I suppose it depends on what you want to do on a cruise. We are older and have done the Caribbean many times. Once you've seen one island, the others are much the same. That being said, on the tropical, we couldn't dock in HMC or Amber Cove due to high winds. Ended up going to Samana instead of AC, but it was raining and we don't do ATV's, etc so stayed on ship. Turks and
  15. We were booked through a casino offer in a cove balcony on the Dawn a couple of years ago at a great price that included drinks and specialty dining, plus Platinum and casino perks. Decided to bid the minimum ($320 pp) for an aft Penthouse. Didn't get it. So we decided to spend the $150 pp that we had planned to spend for massages in Roatan to increase our upgrade bid amount to $470 pp. We bid that amount on the Family Suite with Balcony and got it. We have had several suites, but this one was our favorite. Large cabin with all suite perks. But the BEST was the 110 square foot balcony w
