  1. Some people don't have a choice. They save up all year and the inside cabin is all they can afford.

It would seem you're in Florida. You might not have to worry about airfare as much as those of us who have some distance to travel do.

I'd personally rather spend the extra few hundred bucks on drinks and excursions then a balcony.

Pretty good post Constable, makes sense to me.

  2. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE the balcony. I quite often sleep on it too as I love to hear the ocean and see the stars at night. And it does offer privacy at the end of the day. Yes, you have neighbours but they want their privacy too and I don't tend to look over into their balcony. ;)

From a money point of view, of course it is expensive and someone being fortunate enough to be able to get a lovely cabin, it is wonderful. We go cruising to relax and chill and find we can do this on the balcony as we don't want to socialise every day.

If I could not afford it I doubt very much I would do cruising but this comment is not intended to sound rude. I just could not put up with a cabin without a window as I would feel like lying in a coffin. But if people love cruising and don't mind being in an inside cabin and love to go travelling no one should put this down as travelling is wonderful. So everyone going on cruises I wish you a wonderful time just like we have every time we go.

Not sure if you have sold me on your last couple of lines

    :(

Each to their own and what suits them and their preference and budget.

  3. Thank you so much:)

Being able to put the 2 teenage girls in their own cabin and DH and I in ours is extremely attractive to me. Anyone with teenagers will agree, I'm sure.

    It makes sense to me.

Its what you make it like most things in life.

We only look at outside or better when there is a deal that makes them close to an inside price.

The cabins are the same and you have a full day on or off the Ship and just go back to the cabin for a Shower and Bed.

  4. Ha ha, that's funny. Oh well, I've booked what I've booked, and I'll be damned if I'm gonna let a cabin stop me from enjoying my cruise.

If there's one thing I've learned from CC, it's that there are a million cruisers out there with a million different opinions, and that the attitude you take on the ship determines the quality of the cruise you will have.

You will not have to worry about engine noise mate :-)

We have had Insides, Outsides, Balconies and Suites, it depends on the pricing, sometimes is better to cruise twice or in your case have two rooms than pay the price of a Balcony.

Like most, I prefer a Suite, Junior Suite......... Outside, then Inside but it all come down to price and the occasion.

We just came back from an inside Cabin it was fine but we had to use our iphone as a clock to see what time it was early in the morning as its easy to loose idea of time at Night.

We were on VOS last year and our outside was a similar size to our Kids inside.

The Trick is, if you have a flash Cabin with a Balcony sit on it and enjoy it (but you miss enjoying the rest of the Ship)

If you have an inside just get dressed and sleep there and get out and about. Its simple and obvious and works.

  5. Going past the Cape of Good Hope in 1975 SS Australis, I was only a young boy but the seas were huge and they placed ropes and cordons across public areas to hold on to, several people were injured and one passenger died.

Pretty rough seas on this one, thankfully I was not there.

  6. Thank you Pam - what a brilliant summing up - you are so right, reviews, as you say, often attract those who have something derrogatory to say, it is par for the course.

Thanks to everyone else, too, for their comments. Hope you both have wonderful cruises on Diamond.

    I feel reassured!

    :)

We have had quite a few cruises in the last three years on several different Ships.

Not had a bad one yet.

Life is what you make it and a Cruise holiday is no different.

    Happy 65th Birthday Mate.
