  1. It's kind of like a trundle. The couch part stays the same but another bed pulls out from underneath. My 14 and 18 year old said they were quite comfortable. You can separate them so they are not right next to each other....

Thank you so much!!! This is exactly what I was hoping the bed situation was. My mind can rest easy now knowing that Mum is going to sleep as comfortably as us. Thanks again!!! [emoji16]

  2. Hello there! Thanks for your great description of the cabin. I'm interested in the sofa bed as my 75 year old mother will be travelling with us.

On a previous cruise she had a couch that flipped over into a single bed and she loved it. In the same cabin we had a pull out sofa bed that wasn't too comfy at all - even with the eggshell topper.

From photos that I have seen and reviews that I have read... I'm thinking that these sofa beds are just big foam pillows that make a couch or 1/2 single beds. Can anyone confirm?

Also, what is on the deck above these rooms? In this photo it looks like just a sunbaking area. Has anyone that has stayed in these rooms noticed any noise from above?

  3. I'm not quite in a wheel chair but because of severe back issues I have a walker and cane. Also CPap machine and diabetic medicine. The cruise line has you fill out a special needs form to list your full or partial disabilities. My Doctor also provides me with a letter stating my issues too, just in case it's needed. Hope this helps a bit.

    Thanks Dave

It's good to know that they police these things. Imagine how quickly all the accessible cabins would disappear if they didn't!

  4. Just booked accessible cabin 1814 on NAVIGATOR that is larger and has even more windows than standard Panoramic cabin. Can't wait.

I'm just wondering about the accessible cabins...

I assume you are in a wheelchair... so what proof do you have to give to be able to book one of these rooms?

I'm curious... as my sister is in a wheelchair 70% of the time when she's on holidays... and I know she will be interested in one of these rooms when she hears we are staying in one.

    Thanks :)

  5. My husband, my Mother and I are ready to book 22 nights from Sydney to Seattle in April 2018.

It's my husband's idea to spend 22 nights in close confines with his mother-in-law (he says she's the coolest MIL ever).

Anyway... I really like the Promenade cabins and wonder if they sleep more than just 2 people? Does the couch flip to a single bed?

I'm sure I've seen a photo of just that... but do you think I can find it now??

So I thought I would throw the question out there... just in case someone else might be wondering the same thing.

    Thanks in advance!!! :)

  6. Hello... I was wondering if anyone could confirm if you can sleep 3 people in a promenade cabin???

We will be cruising with my 75 year old Mum (my husband's idea - he loves her to bits) so I'm hoping to get a decent bed for her... a sofa that flips to a single bed or something.

I'm sure I've seen photos with exactly that... but it says that cabin sleeps 2 people.

    Thanks in advance :)

  7. We queried the tipping in the casino once. There was one dealer in particular that was really friendly, chatting to us, helping people who were new to Blackjack.

We often tipped him as we really enjoyed his company.

He explained that all the tips they put down the whole in the table were pooled and shared between all the dealers.

We thought that was bad because some of the dealers were steely faced grumpy pants.

So maybe tipping at the bar is done the same way???

Who knows how much of the gratuities we pay up front go to bar staff. I will have to ask how it works next time we befriend a barman in the sunset bar!!

  8. It's just that we were pricing this up individually for some friends in the UK that we even noticed it.

Our first cruise was booked through a travel agent... and our last one was done online but we didn't notice it at all.

I'm happy for them to list the cabin at the lowest price... not including anything else... but when you look at your actual reservation with individual prices listed... it needs to say:

    Cabin - $4,467.74

    Port Charges - $520.00

    Taxes and Fees - $377.38

    Gratuities - $253.52

    TOTAL - $5,618.64

When they roll the port charges into the cabin cost with nothing to explain it, it causes unnecessary confusion.:confused:

  9. OK we now have an explanation!!!

We spent 40 minutes talking to person A and then asked for a supervisor as he was getting quite heated and not really hearing us (he's in Guatemala so we were probably on different wave lengths) :D

When I explained the situation to the supervisor I said we are aware of the taxes and gratuities but the base price of the cabin varied from the website to our reservation pricing.

He finally explained that port charges were added to the cabin price.

So simple and yet it's not listed anywhere to explain the difference in pricing at the end of the process.

He said they deal with this sort of query all the time and I suggested that maybe they need to get their webmaster to mention these troublesome port charges.

Then again, why aren't the bloody port charges included in the damn cabin price in the first place... then no-one gets confused or left feeling ripped off.

All good now... we are having a drink to celebrate booking our next cruise!!!!!

    Yippee :D:):D:):D

  10. All prices are Australian $

We have just booked a cabin for 2016 on Solstice.

The base price online, without taxes or gratuities, was $4,467.74

We initially rang to get a quote and talk to them about the various 123GO specials that are on at the moment. In the end we decided to book it while we were on the phone. We were given a total price and we asked what the gratuities were worth because we couldn't see that amount online. After we got off the phone we worked all the figures down to price each to tell our UK friends so they could consider booking through us as it's cheaper. Imagine our surprise to see the cabin only price was $4,987.74 - exactly $520 more than the online price.

When we called to ask about it, what sounded like a young girl, very uncertain of herself, said "That's the best price we could get at the time"

The original person i spoke to is at lunch so I will be calling him back shortly.

Has this happened to anyone else?

We were looking at a site with Australian pricing and we rang Sydney to book.

  11. Yes they will ask for the country of issue of the passport. This when you fill out the cruise personalizer . They will ask for country of issue and the Passport Number.

Thank you... that was the bit I couldn't remember!

Oh and when I said I was hoping for a quick response... I meant from Celebrity... not Cruise Critic! :D

  12. I've emailed Celebrity but they are taking their time in replying... so I thought I'd ask the question here in case someone has already done it.

Can I book a cruise in Australia for my husband and I + 2 friends of ours from the UK?

It's cheaper for them to pay us back than it is to book it from the UK.

If anyone has done this I would love to hear from you.

    Merry Christmas everyone!

    Carol :)
