  1.

Please can you help with Athens - which is the best way to go about it - on your own or with Thomson? Is the Acropolis close to the changing of the guard? Is it best to get a taxi? Does anyone know approximately how much a taxi is? Any ideas or information you have will be greatly appreciated! Getting excited and still got 3 months to go!!! :D:cool:

  2. Awwww thanks everyone for all the info/suggestions.

I think we'll definitely try the taxi, it's got to be cheaper than 4 x £37, just hope there aren't too many trying to do the same!

Cruisin' Linda it's part of the Ancient Wonders on Celebration in September then Holy Land week 2.

Any more tips/info just keep them coming! I love reading this forum it keeps the excitement up!!!

    ;)

  3. Hi everyone

Anyone got any advice about seeing Oia, I've noticed the excursion is £37pp, is it worth this cost or better to do it on your own, has anyone ever done it by taxi? There are 4 of us so this may be an option? Can you only get to the top of the cliff-face by cable car at Thira or do the coaches for the excursions take you up?

Any tips/help very much appreciated ;)

  4. Hi All. It's been a while since I was last on here, but having booked the Ancient wonders cruise on the Celebration, I need to ask an opinion.

As we don't spend a huge amount of time in our cabin, we've decided to "slum it" on an inside cabin on deck one. During a courtesy call from Thomson, trying to get us to upgrade, we were told we have a 4 berth cabin, even though there's only 2 of us traveling. So, anyone stayed as low as the ships cat? And if so, what did you think? Thanks in advance:)

We are doing Ancient Wonders too this year. What date do you go?

  5. Hi have seen some really bad reviews of this ship recently and as this is our first cruise I'm getting a little worried. Are people just expecting too much? Also my biggest concern is the formal night. How many men actually wear a Tux these days? My husband doesn't want to feel over dressed..

tbh most men do wear a dinner suit and it's really lovely to see everyone dressed up. I'd say if he's got one wear it!

  6. Hello we have just booked a highlights of the med cruise on 28th June 2014 as part of my husbands 50th birthday celebration.Got home and read some reviews and are worried that we have made a bad choice. Was seriously thinking of cancelling last night but think we might be overreacting as some of the reviews were very good particularly relating to the crew and their attentiveness towards the passengers. The main problems seem to be related to the food quality. We so want to keep an open mind and realise opinions will be different. However I don't want to have a holiday we paid a lot for ruined. Any feedback would be appreciated cheers

Please stop worrying, we were the same when we first booked 4 years ago! Have been on Dream 3 times now and we love it! You have picked a lovely cruise and a lovely time to go and I'm sure you'll love it.......and relax!

  7. Hello everyone

Anyone got any tips for Ancient Wonders cruise in September.

The things I'm wondering about are whether it is easy to get into Istanbul and Athens on your own or is it better to book an excursion?

Are any of the ports of call e.g. Thira, Mytilene, Kusadasi just nice to wander off the ship and just have a look round or go to the beach?

Any pros and cons will be very much appreciated.

    Cheers :)

  8. Here are a couple of links for the Ancient Wonders - we have done this twice now; once in 2012 & again in 2013 & managed to see different places both times - it's a great itinerary & a lovely ship; not as big as the Dream but I am told a very similar atmosphere to the Dream:- we have booked for the Dream for next year!
