As the Canadian $ tanks (again!), I am cautious with how I pay for things. I have a U.S.$ account and U.S. visa. But before I charge something to my US$ visa, does anyone know what currency Princess works in on pre-cruise order items? I've heard that Canadians can be charged for ordered items in Cdn dollars and the rate through Princess Vancouver is at a much lesser rate than the current US/Cdn exchange rate. My pre-cruise order could grow, if in Cdn dollars as opposed to U.S.$ once aboard.
Are there any Canadians who have any experience with this. Thanks.

Thanks everyone for good advice.
There will be only two ships in port April 18...so I think we will wing a taxi to FLL. If disembarking is on time, approximately what time would be last off ship? I think a direct Princess airport transfer would leave much earlier than that and we'd be there way too soon for our 1:30 p.m. flight.

Return home flight leaves Fort Lauderdale airport at 1:30 p.m. As I won't be in a super rush, from any experience, should I book the Princess airport transfer -$38 (don't know how early that might leave the ship) or should I opt to find my own taxi transport to FLL airport once off ship. I just don't want to be there bright and early and have hours to kill or searching for a taxi once off ship either.
Any advice?

Recently we were very happy that Princess 'refunded' our US$ cruise dollars to our US Visa account, then charged our Cdn$ Visa account with the same amount (par in Cdn$) and then subtracted those funds from the total cruise dollar amount owing, paid in Cdn $....saving us the exchange rate that is not in our favor at the present time. I love how Princess does business for us Canucks. :)

What a treat to follow along with you to FLL....wishing you a wonderful cruise and that you get into warm weather soon. We board May 4 FLL for Vancouver.
When you have a chance, could you please scope out if the MDR still serves eggs bennies, with lox if asked and capers. I'm salivating for just that.
Thanks again. I think I'm getting the packing somewhat under control now that so many answered me back regarding packing for the hot and humid outside!!! LOL
Cheers, have a great one :)

Alicomp or someone who has recently been on the Sapphire, can you please tell me what the cost of a day per person would be. Thanks in advance.
Canadian Dollar or U.S. Dollar when purchasing through Princess before cruise ?

Yes, I understand that, but if you don't have 'earned' funds in U.S.$, then you still have to do a dollar conversion at some point in time to pay the U.S. credit card. I am too in the U.S. 5 months each year with a U.S. credit card, but paying the U.S$ CC still requires converting Cdn$ to U.S.$ at some point which I do in lump sum exchange on a market house 'trade' basis which is at a much better rate than at a bank.
However, my question was whether Princess would charge a pre-cruise expense to a Cdn$ visa and therefore prudently save my U.S$ for other items that cannot be charged out in Cdn$.
Sounds like it worked for 'sueandkent'. I also paid for my cruise in Cdn$ as opposed to U.S.$ as I paid nearly par dollar through Princess on a Cdn visa rather than charge to my U.S. visa when the Cdn$ was already 9 cents off par and since then it has gone even further south.
