We are cruising August 24 - are you on that sailing?

My hubby and I will be on the SS Antoinette August 24th sailing. I am so looking forward to the experience. I appreciate you taking the time to post your thoughts.

From the Banks Mansion - what is the best way to get to the docks. I have seen several comments about taking the tram and then walking but want to hear other's opinions. We will have four pieces of luggage and a backpack between the two of us - and I want to make the trip the most efficient and stress free as possible.

Our trip last year to Venice - we arrived on the only afternoon in two years that the Grand Canal was closed for the regatta! We had to walk for miles to get to our hotel over the canal bridges. I don't want a repeat of that ordeal.

I think this is probably not the right means to get around - especially on the first leg of our trip. I would hate to have a mishap and then be crippled before I even get to the boat.

We will be in Amsterdam for one day prior to our Uniworld cruise and are considering renting cycles. Has anyone done this?

My only concern is there adequate bicycle lanes in traffic? Is public transportation a better option? The rental is a little pricey.

We are studying the map of the city to plan out our brief visit. I will definitely order our tickets online for the Ann Franke house.

We will be staying one day pre-cruise at Banks Mansion in Amsterdam. For those that have stayed there - what is the best way to get there from the airport?

We are interested in a canal cruise, the Anne Frank House and possibly the Dutch Resistance Museum. Does anyone have anything to share about transportation from this hotel to these spots or suggestions of what is not to be missed.

We are sailing on the SS Antoinette in late August and will be doing Lucerne on our own. I am reluctant to buy our train tickets until I have a good idea of what time they allow passengers to disembark.

What was your most favorite thing that you did in Amsterdam? We will only be there a little over 24 hours so we will have to make a quick run of "things to not miss".
