  1. Ah. Well, 9101 is obviously under the pool area, which may be noisy. The one entry in M class cabin thread (above) for 9101 mentioned a little noise on one occasion. 1101 is under the basketball court. We stayed in 1141 when Celebrity had just started showing movies up there. We didn't hear any noise from the movie, but I don't know about 1101. I do know that people wandering on Deck 11 can peek around and see the Veranda of 1101.

    Thank you! Thats really helpful

  2. We had the fizz on Eclipse in June, as stated by others, we waited a couple of nights and then asked the Sommelier in Blu if we could swap it.

    No problem.

We also didnt care for the cold tea, so our room attendant brought us a jug of water each day instead. This was very welcome as the daily comp water has gone.

    Enjoy your cruise!

  3. I have looked closely again at the email I received last week and its only billed as LCV 2016 voyage.

No mention of a special offer, unless Im missing something.

I just find it strange that the 4 free days have been emailed from the LCV office as has the 2016 cruise but the rwo dont marry.

Our reason for being tempted by this cruise is that our son lives in Dubai and it would have been the icing on the cake to see him!

  4. Im completely confused.

I received an email from LCV offering a balcony on this sailing for £1999. No flights.

In March I received an email telling me I qualify for 4 free nights due to moving up a tier. These must be taken within 12 months.

Ive now been told that as this is a special offer my free nights cant be used with the booking.

The email I received this week did not mention any special offer.

I cant believe Azamara would offer something and then make it impossible for you to redeem it.

  5. Thanks Jen

Still undecided between the larger Eclipse and Riviera. Not much difference in price Eclipse just slightly cheaper but a longer cruise. Riviera does look lovely and this cruise docks in St Barts where I really would like to see.

    Thanks again for your help.

Im sure youll have a lovely time!

    Enjoy your cruise!

  6. Hi Freckles 49

We are at the moment deciding between Oceania Riviera and Eclipse. Balcony cabins. If you would be so good could you tell me about the stability on Riviera as it is a much smaller ship and the entertainment we like some but what I have seen in reviews seems very highbrow. Also! fellow passengers, don't want to feel out of my depth but are they very posh. dress code concerns me:eek:

    Thank you so much.

Our Oceania sailings were on Insignia, around 600 passengers and Marina, around 1200 passengers. I think Riviera is of a similar size to Marina.

Neither my husband or I suffer from motion sickness but rough seas can happen on any sailing. We had very rough seas one December in the Carribean on Azamara another rough sea in Cinque Terra on Insignia.

We book a balcony cabin, often last minute, sometimes guaranteed but thankfully the position of the cabin has never been a problem for us.

The advice Ive read from others is to book mid ship and lower down if youre a bit queasy.

Re shows. Definitely not highbrow. Just your usual run of the mill cruise shows.

My husband doesnt like them so our evening meal tends to be our entertainment!

The restaurants on Oceania Marina were all really lovely, no extra charge for the speciality.

Dress code was not formal. We wore exactly what we would wear to a nice restaurant.

    Hope that helps.

  7. This gives even more information for those people going on the same cruise during the summer.

Sorry we didnt meet you. We did meet Maisiecat and thanked her for her wonderfully informative website.

  8. Just off Eclipse and we were offered this on the first night.

We were on a Baltic cruise inc St Petersburg and I went to a chefs demo...free..

and the chef said to mention his name in any of the specialities for the next 2 nights for 2 for 1. These were the 2 St Petersburg nights.

Many other passengers who ate in the Qsine first night with the special offer were told they would get the same offer if they rebooked.

I wouldnt book a dining package now but would just go with the flow!!'

  9. I've noticed that the canapés have greatly improved. No longer a couple of stale chips and some guacamole dip. They are getting more creative. We asked that they be delivered every afternoon, and in most cases ate them all.

So happy with these each afternoon. They were so much better than the very meager offerings given to us on Millenium 18 months ago.

    Yum!!!

  10. We are thinking of booking this cruise next for next June, very surprised by the charge for the bus ride in the container ports.

Our last cruise was to Norway and we were at a container port for one of the stops and the bus ride to town was free. Were you able to walk at all?

Not overly bothered about the fee, maybe just the principle!

You could easily walk in Tallin.

The problem is you cant be sure where the ship is to be docked.

For instance last August Eclipse docked walking distance from the Little Mermaid statue in Copenhagen. This June nowhere near.

We didnt take the ships shuttle...see my review re service buses dockside.

Stockholm the only choices were Celebrity shuttle or hop on hop off bus.

It was about a 30 min ride.

  11. We are booked with SPB tours for a 2 day tour, not a private one for 2 as you did but good to hear you liked the company so much.

We had a 2 day tour with SPB 16 of us in mini bus with free wifi.

    Cant praise this company enough.

Our guide Daria and our driver Valera were wonderful.

By the way second day through immigration was instant, first day about 20 mins.

  12. My advice is...dont do it until you are onboard.

    We left Eclipse last weekend.

We had a 50% offer on night one off Qsine.

I went to a chefs 'fish cookery' demo and he said to mention his name on the next 2 nights for 50% off any of the speciality restaurants. The demo was free.

Most people who ate in Qsine on nght 1 were offered 2 for 1 any other night of the cruise.

We were in Blu so didnt venture any further afield than Moonlight Sonata, where we had a most delicious meal with excellent company.

  13. We have done 2 Oceania cruises, one on their small ship Insignia the other on Marina, about 1200 passengers.

When we sailed drinks were not included but now sometimes you can get onboard spend a drinks package or excursions included.

Oceania in my opinion is very similar to Azamara but it has the edge re the food.

Also none of the speciality restaurants have an additional fee.

  14. We bought a 7 bottle wine package costing £210 for our Baltic cruise on Eclipse last month.

When onboard they were offering wines at $25 which could be sent to our restaurant.

    We should have waited.

We also bought vodka in Russia and had to hand it over, whilst we were doing that friends skipped by with their stash!!! So it seems to be luck of the draw!!!

    Jen

  15. Thanks for taking the time to fill us in!

We are Elite, and have yet to sail on Azamara, it is on the radar.

It reads that they are closer to alike than totally different, yes?

    Thanks again,

    EW

Azamara is a much smaller ship, almost a quarter the size and so the ship can get very close into ports. Shuttles, if needed have always been free. Not so on Celebrity.

There are no formal nights on Azamara but most people dress for dinner.

The entertainment both during the day and in the evening on Azamara is not as comprehensive.

We enjoyed all our meals in the buffet on Azamara, there was no shortage of tables and it had more of a restaurant feel than the Eclipse buffet. Fewer passengers though.

    Hope this helps.

    Jen
