We always trade the little liquor bottles for all Vodka and the sodas for diet coke. Can we swap the beer for liquor too? DH used to drink an occasional beer but he's kind of off that now. I lost my taste for beer years ago.

The wine tasting, as opposed to the wine bar, is an event that will be listed in the Princess Patter. The date and time will be shown, but chances are your waiter will inform you of it well before you see it in the Patter. It will be in one of the two dining rooms on the Island, in the afternoon, usually about 3ish, but that could vary depending upon itinerary.
Thanks for the info.

Not too early at all
if your flight is for the next day
Good one.
9am is way to early.

We got an upsell offer a few years back. We booked a mini suite and the upsell price for the suite was $700/pp but it was for 15 days. We took it because it was the Hawaiian cruise with a lot of sea days.
Beware of the upsell to suites you may get hooked. We did.

Where do they have the wine tasting on the Island Princess? In looking at the deck plans I don't see a Vines.
-
Ice, Ice and more ice. We usually order a pint of booze soon after board and request ice from room service. It's a big buck 3 times the size of the little silver one. For the rest of the cruise our steward fills the big ice bucket plus the little one which we store in the frig.

Thanks for the quick reply. That's cheaper than what we pay per even by the carton. Since you can't get the carton you by duty free until last night of the cruise. It's nice to know there is this option.

Can someone please detail where smoking is allowed on the Island Princess.
Thanks.

I would be interested in the answer to this too. Also, does anyone know the price per pack in the bars?

I'm mid 50s and order off the kids menu sometimes.
I have a small appetite and hate to waste food. Never thought of the kids menu. What is usually on it?
-
I wasn't aware that you could get the MDR menu delivered to our suite the night before. That is very helpful to know. Thanks.
This is my favorite suite perk. In my opinion eating in the MDR takes too long.

Wow, 500 pp is a LOT
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
No it's 250/pp. When I say we get 500, I mean me! DH doesn't get online during cruises.
-
Thanks for the link! Looks like we get 500 minutes. I'll never use that many but good to have.
-
Refresh my memory. Are the free internet minutes for per cabin or per person? Also, how many would we get for a 15 day cruise.
BTW I never used them all up on any cruise.
-
I would never try SHARE. I don't like the menu. May consider Salty Dog on our Crown cruise next year.

Going to the casino to get my lanyard and card punch is one of the first things I do when we board. Sometimes there is someone there at embarkation and sometimes not. You may have to wait for the casino to open which is about an hour after sail away. Also when I play the slots I hook the lanyard to a belt loop so I don't forget and leave it in the slot.
Have fun on your first Princess cruise.

Making Crown Grill reservations is the first thing we do after boarding. Even before eating lunch.
-
Just pizza. I'm pretty sure that only Regal and Royal have the expanded menu. When we ate at the dedicated Alfredo's on Grand they only had pizza.
That's disappointing. I was hoping to try the veal pasta dish.
-
Thanks for all the great responses! It was very helpful. Does anyone know what time they open the doors and let you in? If we got there around 11:30 do you think they will be open by then?
-
When they have Alfredo's lunch in Sabatini's is it just pizza or the full menu?
-
Thanks for the replies. I guess I was just confused (no big surprise there) due to my last two cruises being on the Coral and Island respectively.
Tony: Are you still making your margaritas with salt water instead of just putting salt on the rim of the glass?
We will be on the Island soon. I've only been on Regal once and didn't try Alfredo's. I would like to try it this time. Is the Island still doing Alfredo's for lunch on the Island?

Assuming you are at Terminal 2 there is often one seating area set aside for Elite/Suite passengers (with refreshments) and another for Platinum (not necessarily with refreshments). But it is possible Island Princess will be at a different berth even if the only ship in port that day if she is returning from a round-trip sailing that departed from say Terminal 19 or 21.
It's the Nov 1st sailing one way to LA. Do you think we will be at Pier 2? My only concern is having to stand for a long period of time. Is the lounge at Pier 2 similar to the one in
San Pedro were it's a separate room?
-
Isn't the lounge at FFL just for Elites and Suites ??
It was the last time I sailed from there , has it change to now include Platinums too ??
Srpilo
We are Elite and in a suite but I can understand your confusion because I said "since becoming Platinum". I only mentioned that because that is when you get priority boarding and we've haven't arrived at the pier early since.
-
Since becoming platinum we have never gotten to the port early enough to have to wait to board. We're within driving distance to the port and arrive that day around 12:30. This time we are going over a day early. Since check out is 11am we will probably arrive before we are allow to board. The Island Princess is the only ship in port that day.

I keep reading that the steward will do the move. This was not my experience. When I asked my steward when they were doing the move he seemed clueless and said he doesn't do that. There seemed to be no coordination about this. I wanted to be moved before we had to do the turn around. I called the front desk for a luggage cart and was told they only had a few and they were in use. A supervisor ended up doing the move and it happened before the turn around. My advise would be that you need to proactive.
