  1. I haven't cruised NCL in about 8 years, and I know  a lot has changed (No Lobster, no Prime rib, etc)

We have several nights at specialty restaurants, but I am interested in the meals in the no-cost restaurants.
What is the best meal on the menu?   Is it in one of the main dining rooms, or one of the free specialty restaurants?

    Looking for recommendations here!
    Thanks!

  2. I want to visit Volcanoes National Park while in Hilo.   The cruise pulled the two excursions that visited there by land...they seem to have kept the helicopter tours.

Is it feasible to rent a car and visit?  Tips on doing so would be helpful.  Thanks!

Tervis is a double-walled plastic cup.

My daughter has Yeti, Rtic & Ozark Trail.  She feels they are all pretty much the same & you can't beat the price on the Ozark Trail.

Tervis also comes in a double walled stainless steel.  They're spendy, but work well.  Here is an example

That said, I have both Tervis and Ozark Trail and they preform very similarly.  But the Tervis comes in cute designs, and the Ozark Trails don't come in very attractive colors any more.

That's great!! What exactly did you ask when you called?

I called and said I noticed the price drop, and what could they do for  me?
Then he offered an upgrade or OBC.

The upgrade would have been to a mini suite, which would have been great, but not necessary for just 2 people, IMO.
The OBC is a great perk!

    Good luck!

  5. Well, after reading this question, and noticing a substantial price reduction on my upcoming cruise,  I called and inquired.
I was offered either an upgrade, or OBC
Since it is just the two of us, I didn't take the upgrade, I took the OBC, which was about 25% of the difference in fare.
Since I was happy with what I paid, and my cabin, before...I'm very happy now!
It will pay for shore excursions!

  6. My husband and I are pondering booking the Hawaii to Vancouver cruise, which comes with the free drink package.
But...what exactly does this entail?  We're not big drinkers, but like to enjoy a bottle of wine with dinner occasionally, or a martini at dinner, or a beer by the pool.
And we like a soda in the afternoon.

It has been about 8 years since I've cruised with NCL, so this is new to me.
Bottles of wine? Wine by the glass? Beer? Soda? anything else?  Is there a limit?

  7. If we are in anytime dining, can the waiter save any leftover wine for the next day?  I like to have a glass or two with dinner, but I don't need the whole bottle.
Also, on another line, we could have the waiter save it, and then pick up the rest of the bottle in a bar or club later.  Can we do that on HAL?

    Thanks

I am debating between a regular balcony cabin and the Signature Suite on the Oosterdam for an Alaska cruise. It looks like while the cabin is slightly bigger it doesn't really come with too many extra perks (e.g., stationery, DVDs). For those that have traveled in the Signature Suites are they worth the extra money? The extra room isn't that important but it is nice if there are other perks. Thanks for your insights.

We're on the Oosterdam in June.  There are 3 of us in our cabin.  I called my cruise consultant and asked how much it would be to upgrade from the Verandah we had to a Signature Suite.  It was $70 per person, with the third person not being charged.  SIGN ME UP!  Just the extra room for three people is worth it. So I called my sisters and sister in law, all who have triples booked, and they upgraded, as well.

I think that if it were only my husband and I in the room, I wouldn't have bothered.

It's a cruise celebrating my younger son's college graduation. He's in the room with us. I've not told him I've upgraded.

My other son and his gf are in an interior room.  If they want to upgrade, it's on them!  HA!

  9. Thank for the photo with the couch folded out...it answered many of my little questions.

are there more than one outlet, too?

This is a "Come for the graduation, stay for the alaska cruise" family trip...we have 6 cabins, and 4 of them are Signature Suites! My younger son is graduating from UW, and we're celebrating getting him off our payroll!

  10. Thanks.  That's what I figured.
I wanted the more spacious room, because our adult son is traveling with us, and it will be nice to have the room to maneuver around.

Of course, I promptly contacted others in our group in a similar situation, and they all took the upgrade.  Woohoo!  Alaska, here we come!

  11. After the recent price drop, I was able to upgrade to a Signature Suite and still save 650 on my cruise (yay, me)
I understand there aren't a lot of perks with this, but does it include priority boarding?
This is my first HAL cruise....I am afraid I will be spoiled and not want to go back to regular balcony cabins!

  12. I know this has been asked before, but I can't seem to find the search feature any longer, so please indulge me.

Is there an app available for texting among passengers?  Can someone supply a link to more information?

    Thanks!

  13. We have a group on an Alaska cruise next summer...20 people.  We all picked the your choice dining to offer more flexibility.
Can we make a reservation if we have a table of, say, 8 people that want to dine together?  Is there a table size restriction for such a thing?

    Thanks in advance

  14. We just came off of the Westerdam last Sunday and had embarked in Vancouver. I had two bottles of wine (2 passengers) in my carry on luggage and there was never a place to declare it.

Interestingly, when we came back on ship from each stop there was a person making inquiries and a table to go to to declare.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Does that mean you could, technically, bring another bottle back for personal consumption from port? <hopefullly>

  15. Is there a page on the HAL web site where you can buy items before boarding?

Such as Beverage Cards, Bottles of alcohol for stateroom, or even bon voyage gifts?

I've been looking but I, apparently like many, am having trouble even navigating the web site.

    Thanks!:cool::ship:

  16. I have a group booked for June 2019, and I did it via the HAL Vacation planner. Each person called her directly, picked their cabin, and they all were grouped together. When we reached the 5 cabin mark, we were eligible for perks, which could include Pinnacle Grill dinner, or beverage packages, or OBC. We currently have 7 cabins, and if we get to 8, we will get a discount.

It couldn't have been easier for me to arrange. Everyone got to pick their own cabin/rate/etc.

  17. We have a small group going on the Oosterdam. Are the cabin doors made of metal so that we can use a magnet memo board to leave messages for each other?

If not, I guess I'll think of something else!

    Thanks!
