  1. That one took 6 days roughly to be allocated. We saw it by checking online a couple of times a day. They then sent an email next day with a "notice of change of reservation" about the cabin number. Another we had booked took a few days longer for the number and then next day we just got another version of the invoice with the new cabin number. So it can vary as to when they do these mysterious allocations.

I am now checking a few times a day to see if we have a cabin allocated yet.... Was so excited yesterday when I saw we had gone from 'cruise on hold' to 'cruise purchased'. :D

If we don't find out till just before we sail it is going to be a long 18 months!!

  2. We have just booked 4 balcony guarantee cabins with friends on Radiance 25th Feb 2017 Aus & NZ cruise. It was 4 separate bookings over a couple of days so will be interesting to see where we all end up :D:D

    cheers,

    G&G:)

G&G we have done the same, we booked first on Monday, my parents the next morning, my best friend and hubby that afternoon and then my in-laws yesterday.... The availability seems to be fluctuating a bit, but so far in my obsessive checking we are coming out ahead with our guaranteed balcony on Radiance...

I have laughingly said, that being it my 40th birthday cruise, what is the guarentee the other three couples get midship somewhere and we will be as far forward as possible!!! I have tried to pull rank and tell them since it was all my idea, and it was my sale find and my birthday cruise, who ever is midship will have to swap.... they have all declined and laughed at me at the same time :p

I also think it would be a good thing to be spread out a bit... bit more privacy and not so much in each others pockets.

We have paid our deposit but have no allocation for cabin yet... I am almost a bit worried we will get allocation and then it will change as cabins get selected by others for full price.... might be better not to know....

  3. Hi All :)

Have just put on hold a cabin on the 'guaranteed balcony' for 14 nights to NZ. The cost was about $2000 less than the next available cabin, so it seems to make sense...

We did it on Carnival Spirit and ended up with an aft facing large balcony room - I was a little worried as had only cruised midship but found it fine. Slight rumble and vibration from the engine and a bit noisier with the wake of the ship but fine all the same.

We don't use our balcony heaps, but I do like to have it.

I looked at Radiance and there don't seem to be any really bad balcony rooms, some have small balconies or partially obstructed view, again this won't worry me. My only slight concern is that we end up in a really forward cabin, and I think this is only because we have never cruised forward before. But I guess for $2000 saving we are willing to give it a go.... I will just keep swallowing all the drugs I can find :)

My travel agent said that our cruise was heavily booked which surprised me given it isn't till March 2017...

I was trying to book last night on RCCL website and it crashed for a few hours, then when I logged back on the price had gone up by almost $2500, I almost cried... then I was a bit cranky and emailed them.... waiting for a reponse... but in the meantime I just thought at the last minute to call into a travel agent on the way past and she pretty much gave me the same deal - so I was pretty happy (and slightly nervous about the lottery of the balcony guarentee)

Goodycruising - did you pay for your cruise in full and then get your room allocation? I will only pay the deposit for now.

I am worried if they give me a great cabin and then take it away again I will be really sad!!!! :)

Anyway... that has been my experience thus far!!!!
