So, you are thinking she will not do her European sailings, but will come to FLL?

Thanks so much for the link. We have sailed on the Edge, but this article really points out the differences the Apex will have.

My assumption would be yes, they'll send her to FLL.

On the face of it they are of course very similar - but the artwork on board gives her a different vibe I felt. And on top of this you have things like an enlarged Grand Atrium (as they did away with the coffee station in the corner that's on Edge), Craft Social, and other bits and pieces. Most of the changes are behind the scenes such as the improvements to the main theatre.

I heard that Apex might have more shady outdoor areas based on feedback from Edge guests. Does anyone know if this happened?

Not from what I saw when I was on board. There is an additional band area which is shaded on the rooftop garden, but otherwise looks pretty much similar.  I do wonder if they will add in some umbrellas and the like.

This individual also has a blog page at www.sparx.org and I have included a link to his entry about the Apex where you can view even more pictures, both exterior and interior in all different phases.

    Enjoy!

Thanks for sharing this - My understanding remains that she'll be off of the coast of France for a few weeks and then head over to join Edge around Cococay. I've seen quite a few posts from on board that confirm that.  Slightly surprised they won't have her come to Southampton to join some of the Royal ships, but sounds like they have a financial deal with the yard for the anchoring.

And that's for sharing the post - she's a really stunning ship.  If you have any questions give me a shout!

  4. A new ship was discussed at the media event this morning on Harmony of the Seas. This would seem to indicate a quantum class of some form

On the contrary, the British public were very supportive of the Quantum Class, despite some concerns at first. Anthem was incredibly popular last year when here, so I don't see any reduced rates anytime soon!

  5. Hi all

Quick question- I'm due to sail on Reflection in a few weeks. There will be a group of us going but due to how the cruise was booked some of the group aren't in cabins with their partners - ideally we'd like to rectify this.

I spoke to Celebrity and they said that they could swap the names before the cruise (for a charge) or if we waited we could go to guest services and get it done on board for free.

We're aiming to do this when we get on board - I just wondered whether anyone has any experience of having to swap names in cabins etc?

    Thanks

  6. No ideas at all but we didn't see Jamie's coming as the deck plans already showed Giovanni's. They also added that kids climbing area recently.

Any other restaurants that are on Anthem that aren't listed for Harmony.

    La Patisserie?

Something similar to cafe 270? Does that have more offerings than Park Cafe?

The U.K. Deck plans have been showing Jamie's all year, I just assumed it was a forgone conclusion.

Some of the food in cafe 270 I'd argue is better than park cafe but I'm sure they'll merge the two products into a new park cafe ... They're trying to put as much quantum in as possible to up the product even more

  7. is the pool in the solarium going to be the same as the oasis and allure? or will they increase the size or possible copy quantum's solarium pools? that was the only thing i wish they would do, i found that pool to be on the small side especially if its busy.

I think it'll be the same setup as Oasis/Allure, perhaps with additional smaller ones on the new section (but I doubt it looking at the photos/deckplans)

  8. Found the brochure (go to "View & Request a brochure", pick "Worldwide Cruises 2016-2017). It´s in the deckplans by the end of the brochure. BTW that deckplan shows Starbucks on the Boardwalk. A couple of pages earlier there´s a list of venues of all ship classes. In the Oasis colums it says for both "Giovanni´s Table" and "Jamie´s Italian" "only on certain ships of this class".

    Actually I´d prefer Giovanni´s Table over Jamie´s.

    Thanks!

Yea I've tried to upload some photos from the physical brochure - there just seem to be a couple of minor differences.

I assumed Starbucks was being moved to allow for Royal IQ in that same location, would make sense as shore excursions hovers around the clock there, so effectively makes a hub.

Do we know whether in Central Park it's going to be Giovanni's Table or Jamie's Italian? Those deck plans show GT, but the UK brochure deck plans show/highlight Jamie's Italian.

Interesting there's no sign of Abyss in those updated plans!

  10. Thanks for the link to the commercial they did. I was one of the suckers they got to sit at the North Star bar for an hour and a half while filming that part. Now I watch the final product and the North Star bar part of the commercial was redone with all different people at the bar. That day we were in Barbados, I would have enjoyed the extra hour and a half on the beach instead.

Lol, didn't you get free drink vouchers?? We got some to stay OUT of the shots. [emoji1][emoji1][emoji1][emoji1]

Ha yes I spent a fair few hours sitting around for the shots - I'm in the pool scene at the start and Wonderland ;) we got quite a few drinks vouchers through the course of the cruise!

They cut out a lot of what they filmed as well, so I wonder if they'll do another cut at some point

  11. You're right emmy, it definitely was an 11 night sailing. And even worse was the entire show was incorrect as they missed mentioning St Marten which was the 2nd port off call right after San Juan as follows:

    Dec 1 Bayonne

    Dec 2 at sea

    Dec 3 at sea

    Dec 4 San Juan

    Dec 5 St Marten

    Dec 6 Martinique

    Dec 7 Barbados

    Dec 8 St Kitts

    Dec 9 at sea

    Dec 10 at sea

    Dec 11 at sea

I was disappointed in the show. I thought the Oasis one was done so much better. Discovery spent so much time with various sets all over the ship every day it seemed and they focused huge segments of the show on Starwater for example... zero on mama Mia, zero about Music Hall, very little about the Solarium, maybe 20sec total about Seaplex. Not showing the various restaurant venues was also a disappointment... and they didn't even get the very basics of the itinerary right.

For the amount of time and effort it seemed they made on board I consider this show a huge failure on Discovery's part compared to their shows about Oasis, Epic, Seabourn, etc...

I'm waiting to see it, but from yours and others reviews it sounds like a bit of a farce to be honest! Which you are right considering how much time and effort they seemed to take on board with all the filming at the time!

Have you also seen the Advert they were filming for on board at the same time?
