  1. Unfortunately, my last two experiences with Carnival (the Breeze in late December and the Splendor about a week ago) have been that when they say 3:30, it actually ends up not starting 'til 4:30 or later. On the Breeze, the muster drill was at least an hour later than what was printed in the Fun Times. On the Splendor, it also started at least an hour later than the printed time (I think it was closer to 75 minutes). In each case, there were no announcements or any other indication that they had pushed back the drill.

Also, unfortunately, my husband currently has a broken leg, so we went down at least 20 minutes early, just to make sure he could take the elevator before they got shut off. Once it became clear that the drill wasn't starting at the scheduled time, I couldn't find any Carnival employee that had any idea when it actually would start. They would say, "Oh, don't worry about it, there will just be an announcement when it's time." Well, when you're dealing with someone that has a broken leg that doesn't really work. So they told us to sit in the theater while we waited. Eventually, they came to kick us (and everyone else hanging around) out of the theater. They told my husband that the special needs drill would be in the Library, so he went there and I went to our assigned muster station to meet up with our daughter. It was outside, took forever to get going, and then they let the muster stations on the other side leave first, which meant we got to stand around for at least extra 10 minutes, during which time someone at our muster station threw up (nice!).

While I understand that they do not start them until they are ready to and THEN make the call and I also completely understand what your concerns were about his leg, I am a little confused.

MAYBE it is that different ports do different things, but it was my understanding that the Breeze does this like the Dream and the Magic and has the drills in the indoor common areas. Was it different for you?

Can anyone who may know a bit more about CCL Ops tell me if this is a port thing or a ship thing? Magic, when in Galveston, def does it inside. Breeze is headed there. Thoughts?

  2. With the Dive-in Movies, is the screen under the retractable roof?

There isn't a retractable roof on the Breeze. The screen is out in the open if I recall!

Correct me, please, for some of those that know the fleet better, but the only retractable roof I have seen was over the aft pool on the Triumph so on the smaller ships. I like that the aft pool is more open to the ocean on the larger ships! SO beautiful!

  3. I plan to take over the little one and let the kids fight over the big one! Lol! I just tend to organize for each of the kids by their age and how much help they need....etc. I like to know what I am going into. I can handle anything after working on small ships in close crew quarters myself but I think I tend to over coordinate due to that too! This is good news! The last one was an inside room with my mother and DD and it was too much for me!

  4. I have looked and cannot find an answer from anyone who has sailed in the 6M on the Breeze....and I know this is a stupid question.....but part of my planning with kids...lol!

Am I seeing 4 closets instead of 3 in the 360's? And how much of that is hanging and how many have the shelves that fold up? It ready might matter in what I lug on board that might be considered extra!!

    Any info is appreciated! Thanks!

    Happy Sailing!

  5. Firemanbobswife has made a VERY good point several times. I WAS a crew member. Muster is NOT only used to evacuate ship and having a necessity for the lifeboats....it is about bringing everyone together for accountability. There could be a man overboard and they may need to account for the pax....there could be any number of real scenarios not to be pointed out by me and given today's climate of disaccord in our world/country. I will be honest....it is those running for their lifeboats first that make me wonder. Why not make sure all are accounted for and helped that need it before jumping ship? As stated before....This isn't the Titanic and there are MORE than enough boats!

  6. LUCKY YOU! (And me too just three weeks later!) As former ship crew, I can tell you that they will squeeze every single ounce out of those employees in those few down days, with a crew party thrown in, to get that ship ready for its Port debut! Don't be surprised by the amount of either non sailing guests that day or Travel Agents on the cruise itself! Have GREAT time!

  7. Today is our final payment day for our group and we leave in 75 days! It has gone SO fast! Let's hope it keeps going then slows down on June 5th for just the week! LOL!

I have been on many CCL ships, including the Magic. I hope this has a new feel to it, but I will enjoy it either way! Can not wait to just RELAX (something I am not good at!)

    READY TO SAIL!!!!

  8. I have always just paid everything on my card for my DD (8) ASAbut this one I am taking her and our 16 year old neighbor. I am planning to give them a daily allowance as he is going along to help with her and knowing those two they will be hitting the theater, arcade, slides etc. I would like to make sure that I give them enough. I know my DD will be in Camp Ocean a lot but is $20 a day each enough for them if they have unlimited theater and Bottomless Bubbles? Or should it be more/less? I handle the big stuff! Thoughts????

  9. If you have late seating you are hardly done with dinner at 10. I do not recall the clubs really doing much before 1030 or 11. There is SO much for those kids to do and they have their own club and you probably won't be able to drag them away from that! much more age appropriate. Usually there is a deck party or movie at that time as well where many of the kids can be found.

  10. I was on an NCL cruise about 15 years ago. It was a little rough and my friend had a patch on. We met some guys on the ship (lifelong friends now). One is a doctor who reached over and took my friends patch off of her without warning. He told her that was why she was so sleepy and asked her if she was feeling temper mental at all. She said a little shorter than normal. Later we then went to his room (a few doors down) and he gave her a few Non-drowsy Dramamine and some ginger capsules. Did the trick! And that is what I now give my kids/friends starting the day before we sail. I only keep up the ginger daily unless it starts to get rough. His suggestion. I have never had one of the people in my large groups get super sick since! Ginger is available at Walmart!

  11. This is why I don't like messaging or text. No context sometimes....sorry! What I was referring to WERE shots and B52s are my fave! Just didn't know if the multi liquor shots were considered as two. Some bad info out on CC and I was trying to make sure. Thanks! You guys were big help!

  12. WAIT! That doesn't REALLY make sense because a shot is often a mixture of different liquors in one and the same size as say...a shot of whisky. They don't charge you 4 drinks and make you wait for each layer in the mixed drinks. Anyone with any real time experience with this?

  13. I understand the 15 per day...frankly...my friends and I are shot drinkers that stay out pretty late sometimes. If I have had a few across the day at the pool, casino etc. then the wine will be nice to have at dinner to save those other....or not..for later. Not sure if two alcohol shots are counted as one or two either. Just want few surprises. It shocks me I am considering Cheers! as I have skipped it a few times.

  14. I am an old school cruiser and have had those $1200 bills!

I was told by Carnival that I can indeed purchase a 5 bottle wine package as well as Cheers! (About $500 total for the week for me!) For me it is not about saving the money, but feeling like I can share wine at dinner and having all of the enhancements to the program like coffee, etc.

Here is my question. And I have searched far and wide and have not seen it addressed....

How late into the cruise could I purchase the wine package? Does it make more sense to just purchase per bottle if it looks like my Cheers! is getting low? Far from a lush but am with a party crowd and I am known to drink half of most things and not much more when they get warm!

Anybody bought wine PACKAGES later in the cruise or do you go for the per bottle at that point?

    Thanks in advance!

  15. Question regarding departures from Texas: If you buy Cheers, you can't have alcohol until Day 2. Does that mean you can't get non-alcoholic drinks day 1?

IvyChat....you CAN purchase alcohol day one, but Texas law does not allow us to use Cheers! that day. So the way it works is that you are only charged for 6 days and that starts at 6 a.m. the morning after departure. So just budget for drinks for the first afternoon and night or drink the wine you can carry on and you should be OK. Even wine packages can not be used until the second day.

    Hope that helps!

  16. one thing to add........make sure the Stevedores (fancy, look at me, I know everything word for dock porter...lol) know you have FTTF and add a prority orange sticker to your bags......that will get them to your cabin as you board

BAHAHAHAHA!!!! I was reading and had just put my glasses on....the blind 40's stink.....and saw that stinking bug on your signature and in my small phone screen! I forgot about this and it freaked me out!!!!!.........OP....one thing I can tell you other than the feminine items being key and a light sweater is to each take a water bottle....and an extra to fill with the juice for later....and something to hold your sign and sail card. If you can handle lanyards....then great....otherwise get the same hole put in them at GS and put them in one of those twirled up badge wrist holders. Makes life MUCH easier! Have a wonderful trip! You will soon be as crazy as the rest of us!!!!!

  17. It amazes me how quick people are to not only attack the OP for her cultures practice but to put our practices in the Western world as being so superior and the only right way. I am as red blooded American as they come but I have traveled all over the world. Instead of being critical I find these different practices extremely interesting. I think THIS is exactly the entitlement that Americans posses that make us laughable to the rest of the world. If you guys only knew how some of our beloved cruise staff REALLY feels about us you would not be so quick to make such silly demands. This is not about potty training anymore.... BTW OP.....take that baby in the pool with pride.....and it might be an age difference of opinions...I am right in the middle....but people...her question was no reason to attack. MINE might be!! I don't use the hottubs not because of the STERILE pee of babies...but adults!
